It seems odd the Wales, Scotland, and England each get a separate song. That would be like the USA having 50 separate anthems. My state has one, "Georgia on my mind," but i don't expect it at a sporting event.

As usual, South Africa, Scotland, Wales and France stood out for me,... but the Tongan anthem was a revelation for me. Brought tears to my eyes, though I didn't understand it. First time actually listening to it. Really beautiful. Peace to all the Tongans and Polynesians.

Hail to all these brave men representing their respective nations and not ashamed to show their patriotism by singing their holy national anthems aloud with so much passion! It doesn’t matter whether You are white, black, yellow, red or whatfuckingever as long as You represent Your country in the international competition You are the chosen one and deserve respect from everybody that has even the slightest interest in any sport and understands what kind of commitment it takes to make an appearance on the international scene!

I love the fact that almost all national anthems sing about the military or dying with glory, but the south Africa national anthem doesn't, It strives for freedom and willing to live. That's how all national anthems should be

Just a point of order: Unless the World Cup is IN IRELAND, you will not hear Amhrán na bhFiann, as it is sung exclusively on Irish Territory. Specifically to signify an ALL-Irish team the hymn "Ireland's call" was written.

For me my favorites :South Africa,Tonga,Russia,France,Namibia,NewZealand,Italy in that order. But all the anthems are unique and the pride and patriotism can be felt

For any of ye that ask why does Ireland have 2 anthems, Amhrán Na Bhfiann is for the Republic of Ireland and only played during home matches, where as Ireland's Call is for the whole of Ireland North and South.

I'm Japanese who speak Afrikaans, Zulu and Xhosa but I can say it's impossible to write pronunciation of these South African languages in Japanese. If South Africans hear what is written in Japanese, I am sure they don't understand anything.

As an Irishman I can’t stand it! My favourites? Russia ( now THAT’S an anthem!) South Africa, and the Welsh one is pretty special; I wish I could sing it. Honourable mention for New Zealand and of course The Marseillaise. Sorry England, yours is a total dirge, nothing personal.
