He doesn't do pop music, he's really a guy who plays his own genre, so it's not surprising most people have never heard him. He doesn't seem to court fame; he just sings his stuff.

@@squirrelbutler2119 he is really just so good. The music just stops me in my tracks. The back story of his father and his family is truly Mesmerizing. Not many people can say that Elton John called them to guide them through detox and recovery.

@@HigherLove70 I always found it funny that Loudon was put in the cast of MASH for the third season just so they could work in a couple of his songs. Not so amusing is how he treated his family, especially daughter Martha, who is a really good musician herself. I usually don't cite Wiki as a reference but in this case they have the story correct: see Inspiration for Songs at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loudon_Wainwright_III Dad really was kind of an asshole to his kids when they were growing up... Mom, Kate McGarrigle, was traditional folk music royalty in Canada, along with sister Anna, I saw them a few times in the 70s at various folk festivals, and they were quirky and unique. Great harmonies..
His voice sounds like it's from another time in history and his stage presence is magical.
Rufus is a great singer and soooo cute. Love my Billy Joel
Billy Joel himself looks delighted! 😊
This is an exquisite performance. Rufus is a gem of a singer! Bravo, bravo, bravo!
Rufous Wainwright steals the show. He is a singer in full!
Underrated singer 🥲
Love when the crowd is singing and Snoop is jamming out :P

This guy is amazing. So underrated IMO
Rufus is so perfect.
What a wonderful tribute to the genius of Billy Joel! Rufus Wainwright’s performance was heart warming and brilliant. Whew!
The man can sing.
I love his voice of course, but the way he has such stage presence and throws his head back and gets such an intense look in his eyes is just mesmerizing.

If you ever wondered what someone with perfect pitch would sound like singing, here it is.
Rufus, gotta love him, bringing the heart to everyone else's music. And his own genius creations. He's a true gem, one of the most talented singers ever born on this planet. Wish I could meet him someday. ❤️
This man has an amazing voice!
One of the greats, performing one of the greats, for one of the greats.
Absolutely perfect rendition. I so love Rufus. ❤️
I keep watching this amazing performance! ❤ Again and …
Not by me. He has been my favorite musician since 2016 and I have seen him perform live more than 100 times.
One of my fave singers.
I love his voice! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Saw Rufus live in 2010. He's an amazing talent.

Wow 😳 Rufus you rock!!! Special place in my heart 💚💚💚 xxx
Rufus’ version of this song is better than any other version. Of course the original is first.
Excellent!
ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! My favorite song. Thanks from a fellow alum, '74. Non sibi sed cunctis.
Perfect
RW!!! You are like the light trying it’s best to bust through my groggy, crusty eyelids. But once I smush away the crust and realize I am a lucky human being. So thank you for being who you are and doing what you do. I also can totally identify w/ Snoop just feeling into himself and rocking out introvert style.

I think that was Snoop curling up into a ball knowing he cannot sing or write original melodies, watching a stone cold stellar voice singing well-crafted melodies. Don't get me wrong, Snoop Dogg is a brilliant salesman and is smart enough to know how to 'borrow' other's musical talents and melodies to make himself a millionaire. But he knows he's not anywhere close to being a part of the musical universe inhabited by Rufus Wainwright and Billy Joel.
I cry every god dame time i see his face after the performece
I can keep watching this
Thrilled to see and hear Rufus singing these songs. Love Rufus and Billy. Wonder if Billy knows of Rufus?

Wow. Nine years late. 😢

I feel sorry for Billy Joel here because Rufus sings it far better.
His Aunt was Doris Day. She had a wonderful voice as well.

Hi mother and aunt are the great Kate and Anna McGarrigle from Montreal. Edit: not too sure about the Doris Day relation, though
Was that steve winwood?
Rufus sings Billy Joel's songs better than Billy Joel...
Very handsome great voice but gets to serious

You've written that 'too serious' comment twice now on this thread. And it's not getting any more traction here than it did the first time...
Love his voice but his music is too serious sometimes he's handsome as well

Have no idea what "too serious" means, but thanks for writing the same comment twice
He looks like a bobblehead and I didn't much like his rendition. He really comes off as nervous to me. He needs to button up his shirt too.

thank you for being that guy! always one in a heralded performance clip, and you don't have to like his professional vocal quality, of course, but really, he needs to button up his shirt??? a thin sliver of his chest shows and you're bothered... of course, if it was a woman with 10x as much of her chest showing in a beautiful evening dress, your eyes wouldn't move.
