Presumably Rufford near Ollerton - ford is or was usually just a couple of inches deep. I had been through it many times while visiting the park. That was in the days before the Black Walk was redeveloped, because my mother liked to visit the place of her birth. One very dark and rainy night in 1971 while cruising around with a girlfriend in my ancient Minivan, we went through the ford discovering too late it was in flood. I had expected it to be a bit deeper and had taken the precaution of proceeding slowly and keeping the engine revs high but floating like a boat and drifting sideways was a complete surprise. Fortunately, just a second before it would have been too late the front wheels gripped and we shot forward like a cork from a pop-gun. The engine developed a worsening misfire and we staggered into the car park just as the engine died. Finding something to do while the ignition system dried itself out wasn't a problem...

The mountings of the engine and transmission unit of a front wheel drive car are pretty robust. To tow the car out (provided that it is in neutral) without a 'snatch' and at low speed should not be a problem, provided that the attachment point on the engine is solid. Having said this, I've just looked under the bonnet of my mk.6 Golf and I can't see anything solid enough either in front or behind the plastic cover over the engine.

I'm glad they fixed the escort. I had one of these, a MKVI, I loved that car.
This is not only mechanical torture to anyone who knows what they're doing, but also probably why everyone's insurance keeps going up

The insurer might refuse payment. The owner/driver used a car in a way that exceeds its capacity as it is declared by the car manufacturer.
I hate how other KZreadrs (cough cough Adamc) are now copying and making the exact same videos as Tom. Tom you started it and you deserve the most views.
Love how he rather tryed to signal than to dodge the car
Great video Tom, Poor Ben though nearly losing his phone after going in to help someone
This is mast an unrealistically cool video! Such a high concentration of madness, just lovely!
I love how everyone's first thought it "let me check if I can turn her over on the starter.. If that connecting rod ain't bent already, she sure as hell will be now!"
0:20 WOW….Nice VW😮😮
One of the best episodes ever 😅😅👍🏻
Ben is a good lad. The real star of the show.

@@anusername8350 it’s a mk6 escort - there’ll be plenty of holes for water to drain out through!
There should be a sign there that says if u get stuck or car turns off don't turn it back on. When people try helping don't let them turn their engine over with the spark plugs still on the engine cause it will just damage it more. You want to get as much water out without the engine being on and just turn it over with the plugs off and the engine should spit most of the water out wait a couple hours then put plugs back in and turn it over and hope for the best.

no you don't want to remove spark plugs to relese water. You want this clown to try and start stalled car so he can bend rods and pay mechanic overhaul or new engine. Stupidity should cost money.
I've added this to my UK trip itinerary.
Please advise, if I reverse the car into the water, the water will not easily cover the height of the engine and cause inhalation. Is my idea testable?
J'adore le défis , alors aujourd'hui vais je déglingué ma voiture 😂
