@geoffers35 Firstly, it was another female she was grappling with. And it was a simple collar choke, very effective in Gi grappling. If you watch you can see her apply the collar choke and use it to sweep to a side position and then if you watch the white belts hand she goes a few seconds before the stop.

Sportsmanship at its finest as the other girl elevates her legs to get blood flowing back to the brain. Not even sure if that is the correct action to take, but her concern for the competitor's safety is awesome!

Notice her hand that is right below the ear. She is holding the lapel of the gi, basically choking her with her own shirt. The legs are just there to control her body so she can't escape.

Yes suffocating using the GI itself is one of the standard tricks in GI matches. While impossible in No Gi. There you must lay on a real triangle.

Bow and Arrow choke...Ruffhouse Classic! You hold the far side lapel which restricts the blood flow on that side then the forearm closes off the carotid artery on the side opposite the lapel.

Too all you fools who think that was a boy getting choked out, the poster clearly states “BOTH COMPETITORS ARE FEMALES. One just has short hair.”.

It's called a Bow & Arrow Choke. Her arm is on one side of her neck, and the other girls lapel is on the other side, which cuts blood to the brain and puts her to sleep. Once you have that grip, you push away with your legs which puts more pressure on the arteries and cuts off the blood.

Certainly the judge seems to me could stop a duel earlier. It completely supervised the opponent and he didn't do attempts to leave from удушениея. And it was visible as it began to be lost. Good fellow lady.

This girl is awesome! She actually chokes the poor boy out for real. So many other clips have "choke out" in the title, but nobody actually gets choked out. Because they are both wearing black it's difficult to make out which hold she is actually using to choke him - it's pretty effective whatever it is.

They are the same belt rank, both blue by the level of the winner. They both had the same colour gi on, the different belt is just to differentiate the competitors for the judges.

The referee clearly did not handle the situation well. The girl in the white belt passed out way before he stopped the submission and it looks like he didn't even know how to resuscitate. Kudos to the blue belt who won and knew how to resus

I know in bjj tourneys people get put to sleep all the time so no big deal. But it does kind of suck for the girl that got choked since it looked like she went out at around 1:30 but didn't have it released until like 1:38. If the guy on the side wouldn't have said anything that ref would of let the other girl keep choking her longer.

What kind event was this? The ref was looking right at the girl who was out and let the choke go way too long. As mentioned it seemed he was prompted to step-in only after the spectators told him too. (plus he was wearing jeans, not the most professional image to portray) A blue belt matched with a white belt is pretty irregular too.

You can the people that know nothing about the martial arts because they are the ones that keep saying "a girl couldn't tap me out" or "the boy (who according to the description isn't a boy) is a total punk" ect. It's 2012 people it was established more then a few years ago that gender doesn't mean anything, specially in the martial arts. All the matters is skill, determination, and practice!

Guess it depends on who set up the tournament. I was asked if I wanted to compete in a tournament when I was a white belt, it would be a way they could get my money.

Nice match, good strategy for blue. White did have a couple of openings but wasn't fast enough. First I've heard of belt color not signifying accomplished level. If it had of been boy/girl and those that said it would be shameful loss, come on.
