Rubber Wheel Preparation for Jewelry Making

Rubber Wheel Preparation for Jewelry Making and Repair:
This is how I prepare my square shaped rubber wheels for jewelry making and jewelry repair.
Once this wheel is "trued" it is much easier to work with and control, and gives a much better result in polishing and defect repair.

I just use a Heatless Missy wheel to grind away all that stuff.

Curious question: Why not go straight to the sanding?

Catherine, sometimes that works, but there are times they are so out of round that it is hard to get it true by sanding.

Do you protect your lungs from all that dust? Silicone is in many ‘rubber’ wheels -very bad for you I blow fresh air towards my face from a little fan that directs the dust away from me, across my work space towards a dust collector operated by a foot pedal. That way the dust never travels towards my face and gets sucked up before it can scatter throughout my shop room. Where is your respirator or mask?
