​@@hankstorm3135 Once you have designed the workflow in ComfyUI, it's all just clicking go. The learning curve isn't all that steep to do basic stuff like is shown here, all you need is a basic understanding of the way StableDiffusion works. All you need to do basic stuff are modules to load the base image and model you want to work with, two prompt boxes for positive and negative text strings you want, a sampler to actually generate the new image, an upscaler module to refine and resize it, and an output module to view and/or save the final output. Comfy has a basic workflow built in that does most of this without needing to do anything, and you can find other workflows that you can learn from to figure out the rest pretty easily. Starting from basically no knowledge, I taught myself how to use it in a weekend. It's not really hard once you learn the terminology to search for. The most difficult part really is learning the best way to prompt the sampler to get the kind of output you want consistently rather than giving you a bunch of semi-randomness (for example, if you just tell it "woman sitting on a park bench", it will give you a completely different looking woman on a different looking bench from a different angle every time you hit go out of the box - you need to learn how to be specific in a way that the model understands while keeping the seed the same for consistent results), but if all you want to do is resample a texture that already exists into something slightly different like they are doing in this video, even that's easy.

who even writes those comments, this looks amazing. I mostly play old 10 - 20 year old games and it would be amazing to slightly boost the visuals. The fact that nvidia even cares about old games that they are not gonna make any money on is mindboggling. The GPUs are overpriced, I admit, but with so many software features i can maaaybe get along with the prices. I'm still gonna get probably the midrange rtx 5070 or 4070 if there wont be any cool software feature to get the next gen

the original resident evil is pre rendered, using ai on the entire pre rendered image is different than individual textures, it makes it look worse.

Resident Evil already had a full remake on GameCube, and you can play it in 4K on PC. Capcom are currently remaking it for a second time.

To anyone saying this sucks. You now have more options than ever to enjoy older games. Giving you the ability to avoid the modern market and punish those greedy publishers for their ways of monetization and complete lack of innovation. Making the modern market crash is the best thing that can happen for gamers to get good games again, simply because publishers will have to adapt or ceize to exist if they don't innovate and go back to fair monetization (like Baldurs Gate 3 for example). And if there is one thing we all know for sure is that publishers will do anything to get your money, so make them work for it again like they did in the past! Instead of the CEO and board of directors buying their 5th yacht they'll have to reinvest more of the money into making games good again.

PBR is Physically Based Rendering, so Materials and Shaders will react Physically correct to the Environment, Lighting and other Rendering related factors. Biggest benefit of this Workflow is a vastly enhanced Rendering of Materials and their physical properties. Like Reflection, Roughness, Bump, Distortion, Transmission and Transparency ect

It'll only really be useful for rapid prototyping, but if a steampunk texture pack is released with those melted gears you're gonna have a lot of feedback asking for it to be fixed... And the pack creator will have no idea how to as they're not an artist. Also, be prepared for a LOT of slop flooding the mod galleries. If you think this'll fast-track you to exposure and getting fame, no, you'll simply be pushed aside by the deluge of other equally low-effort AI generated slop and spam.

I will say, I honestly think this is AMAZING and a step in the right direction. This is what AI should be used for. I really appreciated seeing the idea that a large chunk of this workflow is tweaking and modifying the AI result to your liking. In 2024, we wait 7-10 years for games to be developed - this can help get us good quality games quicker.

Fans have already used these kinds of tools to remaster Resident Evil 3. As with all AI upscales, it looks awful.

For worse gaming has become moreso about the graphical fidelity as opposed to the world building and gameplay that the players have come to love over the years. you can do handmade textures there Or upscaling already existing ones its really about who does the project, HL2 RTX cares about the original art direction for example the tools exist, either use it properly or abuse it

Upscaling and PBR looks amazing but adding new features to textures with AI looks horrible lol. Let real professionals and artists do their job. No remix is better than horrible, ugly looking and out of artstyle remix.

You say like that's a negative but it's much more positive than you think. Publishers have become so greedy with zero care given for innovation that at this point the only thing that can save the market is indie and playing older games that are actually good so that the current market can crash and fix itself. With this there is even less reason to invest into the modern market and putting even more pressure on publishers to make good games again without microtransactions, artificially seperated dlc and no innovation. All of us desire the same thing as you but we can only get there by boycotting the modern market and put those greedy publishers back in line where they belong. After all without us customers they are worthless.
