Crysis (The original) is not optimised. It’s super cpu bottlenecked on modern hardware. I think digital foundry have a video on it.

Ray tracing without RT cores? This is like that time Valve managed to implement HDR into Half Life 2 before Shader Model 3.0 was released

@@shiskeyoffles CryEngine is still in use for quite some games, but sadly not AAA style games like Crysis anymore. More recent examples are games like Hunt:Showdown, Arkane's Prey or the Sniper Ghost Warrior Games. But nnone of those reach the jaw dropping quality the Crysis series was able to achieve... and Crytek themselves seem to mostly have settled on VR "Experiences" these days.

I just finished Crysis (original) in 1080p on max settings with an 940MX (integrated laptop) and i5 6200U and it was flawless... Still a very beautiful game! The last part on the ship it's perfect.

Shit i want the 3060ti or 3070. $800 is a bit much for a GPU.. that only has 2 more GB of VRAM. than the 500$- and less options.

Actually, Crysis was optimised (in 2007) for dobble core CPU with 8GHz (... in 2007). Game is unable to use "multi-core power". It is muti-core aware to a certain extent, it's useing 4 threads max. So, you need more GHz to see 60 FPS.

The Can it Run Crysis settings ran exactly how I remember playing it on low settings on my laptop back then. 😂

its not even just texture res being maxed out.. the lod culling has been completely removed. basically everything is being rendered completely. the fact that the 3080 can hit 30fps plus at all is a testament to what a powerhouse this card is.

Yes I also upgraded my Old Pentium 4 to an AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+ with XFX GeForce 7600GT 256MB card in 2007, I could run all the games at High settings at that time except Crysis...

The GTX 200’s had up to 3GB of VRAM. They were the first cards truly able to run it.

Watching Linus make sure all the graphics settings are set to ultra high, but the motion blur is turned off, that tells me that Linus is a TRUE gamer. Really though I've literally never seen motion blur make a game look better, only run worse and hide visual fidelity.

Don't know why games even have motion blur, in reality people don't even notice motion blur unless you're looking for it. In a game you notice it even when you're not looking for it... it's distraction more than anything.

Yes and no. For me the site crashed around 5 seconds before launch and when i finally got it a few minutes later it said "sold out". However around 1 hour later the cards were available again until they sould out again lol. Might have to keep an eye on that because the notifications dont work😂

6:57 Back in the day the fact that you COULD destroy trees by shooting them was mind boggling. And it still is! Very rare for a game nowadays to have that kind of attention to detail.

Ι remember trying to play Crysis on my old computer. What was it 486? Can't remember. All i could see was a slideshow really! Since then no other game made my jaw drop like that. Yes graphics have progressed but at the time Crysis was simply out of this world.

You should start to use capture cards for these type of tests, would help to avoid the recording software from eating up your performance

I couldn't stop staring at the "ray traced reflections" of the windows on his glossy TV.

Notice at 7:00 when he shoots the trees, instead of it just uprooting the whole tree and knocking the whole thing over, it cuts it off at where he shot it and makes the higher portion fall off. A lot of games don't pay attention to that stuff, even nowadays.

@@vladus88 its not nvidia's fault. Crysis remastered is just plain unoptimized and doesn't use cores well, just like the original crysis. The 3090 does give 4k ultra at 60+fps in many other games. even MS Flight Sim 2020 runs at 45+fps (even though that also doesn't use more than 4 cores due to only dx11)

Scraping every site, and pressing a button automatically isnt that hard, but not performant. On the other side theres thousands of tutorials how to write bots to buy stuff and/or just plain scripts to buy stuff, whatever. You dont need a high competent written code aswell, depends on your targets. Even grabbing 1 would be a great deal. Aswell you dont need to put hunders of hours effort into, probably 5-10hours to write a atleast functioning bot, or in this case then more a buyscript. Maybe its not everyones thing, but atleast trying it and grabbing new experiences and tricks over your system especially as a Gamer is always worth a shot. - bad english lol sry

@@campkira EDIT: Apparently i misread something. dlss is indeed available on all rtx cards. But the point of this comment is still accurate. higher powered cards are most definitely capable of running almost every game at 4k ultra at or slightly above 60fps. i run 4k ultra on all games and my 2080ti can push 80-90fps. so higher 3000 series will most definitely be able to push a solid 120. 4k gaming has been available on high end gaming pc's for years.

That's what this feels like. Like optimized the game super poorly on purpose just for the sake of the meme. Games like BFV or DMC5 look and run 10 times better than this.

@Shreshta Jaiswal Lol, why are you comparing this to MSF? If a mountain that far back is as detailed as those in the near view, that means the game is not optimized. 5:10 what's the point of having 8K textures, when they look like that?

When I got Crysis I had a AMD Athlon 2 ..3.2ghz 4 gigs of ram , an Nvidia 1080ti overcloaked to 836mgz and a soundblaster platinum card..My best setting was few thing in high other in medium or low and 1080 resolution.

My system specs at the time were more than the "typcal" and I could run it, but it still wasn't the pushing the 60 frames I wanted. Phenom x4 940 overclocked, 8gb ddr2, gtx 285. I had to wait for my i5 3570k and gtx 680 4gb to finally play it in all its glory.

Oh the memories of playing crysis in 22 fps..... Fun times

@Wuanslm back when I was a total noob I didnt even know what fps meant in fact I played without the fps counter . I used to play lots of HL2DM and actually I was really good and months later I relaized I was playing at 25 fps thx to a friend lmao you could imagine how it felt when I got a new PC and played the game at 200 fps but even when I played at 25 fps to me it felt "normal"

More like the cpu doesn't feel so good, it's only a single core, no multi core support

Graphics API's eat up a lot of video memory as they allocate a big amount of static uniform buffers upon initialization

Missing the good old times... back then when me and my best friends tried to run crysis on of our toasters while skiving school

Gee, it is sooo true. Back in the day we've been running Crysis multiplayer and even the thickest machines had trouble with max settings lol :)

HDR having no sliders means you gotta turn on dynamic tone mapping because you will not get correctly tone mapped data.

I first thought the remastered looked mediocre by today's standards before I realized it was the original and had my mind blown

The color grading is way off, some textures don't fit and some other details. So in many ways it's actually worse from an artistic standpoint. At least the new tech is cool.

Can't wait for 2030 when the new Crysis Remastered II will ensure that even the highest-end GPUs stay under 100fps! :D

The throwback to the original was great. I played the original on a 7950GT 512MB with a mere 3.2gb (XP software limitation) of Dominator DDR2 and used an FX62 as a CPU. Played great on a 19" 1440x900 🤷‍♂️, liquid cooling helped but this was 2007 before liquid cooling was commonplace.

8:17 22fps... Okay, now it brings back memories! This is the crysis I remember!

Long post sorry in advanced but...I remember as a teenager when I wanted to build my first PC. I was so hyped to build something worthy of Crysis I got a job on a farm catching hay bails out of a bailer and stacking them...once in the trailer and again in the barn. I worked all summer to buy the parts and my parents wanted to make sure I wouldn't ruin it so they made me wait until i started school because I was starting the tech center a year early for computer technology ( I was a 14 year old). I finished the build in the class with my teacher and on demo day he had me bring it in and talk to the other prospective students about the class, it was kind of a way to get kids to see the tech center and which class is right for them. I got a ton of people interested in the class and the teacher ended up bringing me in as the teacher assistant to the class that had tons of students by then. To this day I work in IT, and as a man in my 30's I remember the butterfly effect this game started in me. I even recall watching Linus on NCIX Tech Tips when i was shopping for parts! God he couldn't have been much older than me!

First thing to do: turning motion blur off. My man Linus!

I can still remember like 12 years ago as a wee console boy going with my older brother over to his friends house because my brother wanted to show me this amazing game the guy had. I don't remember much, just that my brothers friend had *Built his own computer* and it was this big black box (probably a haf x in hindsight) with these knobs on the front to control the fans and I remember getting so hyped when he slowly dialed up every fan in the machine before he started the game like it was some goddamn spaceship getting ready to take off. Sitting beside my RGB'd 011D XL I think the PC had more of an effect on me than the game did. Its gonna be strangely cathartic to find out... Can my build run crisis?

12 years ago my cousin showed me his Alienware Aurora and it looked like Alien technology to me, I was stuck with a gamecube and a $200 acer to game on at the time so whenever I went over to his house I would just stare at his computer for hours. Eventually his pc caught on fire and he gave it to me so I fixed it up and put a gtx 770 in it and became addicted to pc gaming and buying pc parts. My current build is in a 011D case and it has a ryzen 7 3700x and a 2080Ti but the looks of the 12 year old alienware still give me chills.

Right? Old PC build were just plain exciting compared to today. I look at a new PC it's so clean and plain looking it's almost... Boring. I mean I remember getting an ATX full tower, and filling every one of the included 12 3.5 bays with HDD's hearing the scream of the 20x 92mm fans and plugging in my 2nd twin GPU AMD cards (forget the model I think it was like 4980 or something like that, AMD still called them ATI cards). Like hot damn I miss that wiry mess at times. I'm just happy I have a homelab I can mess around with and have a hot mess of wires going everywhere.

@@nevoyu I couldn't give up my old alienware because of how awesome it was and I recently put a 1660ti in it and I use it for vr now. It came with dual ati cards in crossfire and it was pretty great
