@@erwinamanciosilva7693 well i agree with you about having so much power pair with little ram. but we're talking about 4 and 6 GB of vram here. since 3050 is a fairly low end graphic card i dont expect it to run the game over 1440P or at ultra graphic setting (include texture). and Vram used to allowcate assets to GPU to have quick access. so, even if u have 8GB of Vram the GPU wont be any faster or it will utilize better. its only mean that you can set the texture quality higher. so for a lower or mid range GPU like this, just turn down the texture.

@@saricubra2867 you’re forgetting the fact that RTX 3050 series also have the option of DLSS which might reduce memory footprint allowing for usage of Higher quality textures at a lower resolution. I know 4GB isn’t enough but it’s still really sufficient for 1080p Medium gaming, and that’s how the 3050 is being marketed as. You don’t need more than 4GB for 1080p Medium. If you do, buy an RTX 2060, because I’m pretty sure that’s how Nvidia will market the 2060 re-release as. That card can still deliver amazing performance at 1080p High/Ultra settings.

@@palaashatri Oh also, the 1050 4gb was able to at least max out textures on launch. And given laptops are kept for longer, how will this card fare in 3-4 years? Even low settings might not be enough.

I'm looking at these cards because I just purchased the Flow X13 with a 3050Ti, which is a big improvement over the launch version with the 1650. In terms of esports and development workflows, which is what I need it for when I work remote, because I got a gaming PC besides, this is a perfect card. Everyone is complaining about the vram. I would say, if you consider this a card to play older titles and esports it's actually a great card. Especially compared to the previous generation alternatives.

I just ordered a Lenovo Gaming Pad 3 with a 3050ti and Ryzen 6600H...It will be fine for me since I have an Xbox as well so anything that it doesn't play (new games) I can play on there. I get it though if you only had one machine.

Those 4gb of vram is seriously limiting. These gpus seem like they have a bit more under the hood, but just choke because of the 4gb of vram.

A GPU does not choke from lack of VRAM, as long as VRAM is not fully saturated. In the games presented, that only seems to apply to AC Valhalla. In other words: the amount of VRAM has no impact on FPS as long as the games assets fit into the given VRAM capacity. Generally, textures and output resolution have the most impact on VRAM. If a game exceeds your VRAM limitation, you can lower the texture settings step by step until it fits. For example: AC Valhalla runs fine on Medium according to Jarrod's testing. Additionally, if you're gaming on an external monitor, it is recommended to stick to 1080p. In future titles you might also be able to render them at 720p and upscale them to 1080p with DLSS 2.0 - although I'm not sure about how much VRAM impact DLSS has. // Tom

@@xmg_gg Look, if I'm spending $900 to $1000 just to play games at low to medium settings, why would I buy this card? Just get a igpu or some cheap mx card at this point since its much cheaper and if you're gonna do 720p to 1080p gaming, it'll do it. Amd's fsr will help with upscaling. And dlss doesn't work too great for 720p or even 1080p. Or, if I am gonna get a laptop why wouldn't I grab at least a 1660ti laptop which costs similar or less, has more vram, AND performs better? On top of that it will support amd's fsr so there's your dlss like competitor. Even my 4gb 1050 doesn't have to drop to 720p or even 900p. It can still do 1080p in most titles and more importantly it didn't run out of vram on release. Mate, this is a shit card for a shot price. No point defending it or justifying its use.

Yikes, that's such a huge disappointment. 4GB just inst enough in 2021. I think if AMD releases RX6500M it would mostly have 6GB vram that would be a much better budget option I guess.

If you want a 6GB RDNA2 GPU, you can only get 96bit of memory bus. That narrow memory bus will hurt performance real bad. It is always tied to the memory controller of the GPU.

1660 ti and 2060 is about 10 to 15 percent faster but the 1650 and ti are weaker by about 30-50 percent

6:05 it’s not worth hundreds of dollars for 8% more framerates. Just get 3050.

4GBs of memory is just stupid, it could make it that the rtx 2060 laptops still sell for the same pricing as of today.Will be looking forward for the desktop version of these GPUs, and diffinitely AMD's response.

When these things go on sale with 6 core cpus for $500-600 around black Friday, these will be great values. Of course they'll probably get junk screens. Great results for medium settings in most games.

Tbh, I wouldn't be as triggered for 4gb vram. Many laptops now have 144 and 165 hz screens, so people would rather set settings at medium and use DLSS performance to get as many frames as possible on an okay graphics preset. I think these 2 cards are aiming at that, and rtx like a bonus for minecraft ig, bc ppl aren't gonna use it in any other game. But DLSS 2.0 and 3.0 support is what makes this gpu way better than gtx 1660.

In Malaysia, the G14 with the 3050 TI cost 1500$ and the 3050 cost 1300$. Kinda insane paying 200$ more for barely a performance boost. Both models come with a Ryzen R7

The issue is that since it's a laptop and you can't normally replace the gpu, and just now it's struggling with just 4gb vram. Imagine next year playing on low-lowest and getting stuttering and then in 2023 being forced to play at 900p or 720p due to vram limitations. Considering the cpu will be more than likely fine even in a few years, you'll buy another laptop or pc just because of planned obsolescence on the gpu.

@@GLDragon93 But that wont be the case - developers KNOW where the graphics floor is and account for that, all they have to do is look at what the most popular GPU's are on Steam hardware surveys (GTX 1060, 1050Ti and 1650 this year). They WILL NOT make games that can't be played on low settings for the majority of the market. The fact that RTX has filtered all the way down to the 3050 series will also give them DLSS support, mitigating some of the hardware limitations (just look at the Control numbers!).

DLSS is not widely supported and it's only supported in Nvidia sponsored titles, as of late AMD has been sponsoring a lot of title which won't support DLSS and most importantly there's a huge portion of players who aren't on Steam and play f2p titles and titles which relies on regular updates. And here's the kickers, those titles get more and more demanding. Besides if developers were really focused on optimization and publisher's didn't push unfinished mess you won't have disasters like cyberpunk and minor examples like AC Valhalla. Moreover the 3050ti falls behind the ps5 and xbox series x gpu, which is what developers will really optimize games for.

The thing is 4gb not future proof at all. It may do ok at the moment, however in the next 2-3 years it might can't even run some new games in low setting.

Both are a total disgrace with zero longevity. 4 Gigs of memory just isn't enough anymore.

They are acting like Nvidia did nothing wrong, even though a 4 year old 1050 ti ran games of it's time much better and had the same amount of vRAM. Some may say "but these GPU-s for older, less demanding games!" but then again older games neither support ray tracing or DLSS these new GPU-s offer 🤷‍♂️

@@kaarthuisplus it was exactly the same in the memory department and it didn't bottleneck on memory so much 2 years ago when it was released like 3050 ti does now. And 1050 ti ran ANY game of the time it came out on ultra settings decently. So yeah I expected the same thing from this new GPU.

The last big difference in this segment was between 1050 and 1050ti around 25% after that not so much

Hey Jarrod's, been looking to snag a 2nd hand laptop with RTX 3050/3050 ti, and it seems it would be fine playing on RTX 3050 considering both are heavily crippled by 4GB vram anyway. 8% is just not worth the $100 (in my country) increase in price to be honest.

i actually saw an asus tuf selling with a 5800h and a 3050 ti. Only a 512mb drive though. For 1099. Not that bad i guess for the other 1660ti options that sold at that price point in 2019. Granted many of those as well as 4800h 1660ti options have fallen under 1000$ with 16gb ram. Doesnt seem bad with the price of some 165hz FHD monitors the whole package equates to less than a 3060 system.

So 3050 vs 3050 with 35 to 50 Watt TGP in Vivobook will not make a huge difference.

Why bother with the 3050ti when the 3060 or even 2060 one's OR even 1660ti one's cost similar and would perform same or better.

Yeah, if I have expectations like yours, I'd just get a apu or a much cheaper mx card. Why would you spend $900 to $1000 on this card? Infact. I'd take a 1660ti laptop over this at that point. For even a entry level card, 1080p high to ultra settings 60fps is the standard now. This pathetic excuse for a gpu cannot even muster that.

@Doom Wraith I mean it depends on standards. But like come on man. 60fps is the standard nowadays even with entry level cards pulling off 60fps at high to ulta. Look at the 1650 super and rx5500xt. Also, the consoles this generation are targetting 60fps at 1080p high to ultra settings. I mean yeah, I can play 30-40fps but at that point just get a cheap mx card or a cheap apu.

@Doom Wraith I agree. I was just illustrating how shit the rtx 3050 and rtx 3050ti are. For starters they're quite close to 1660ti and rtx 3060 laptop prices. Both of which are better options than the rtx 3050 and rtx 3050ti. And secondly, you're gonna be forced to reduce visuals anyways just to play upcoming games because of how insufficient the 4gb of vram is on the 3050ti. My point was, if I'm gonna play with reduced visuals anyways, why not just play on a apu and use fsr?

Seeing this makes me realize AMD just release their mid range laptop gpu with 8gb VRAM (6600m)

RTX 3050ti's real performance is capped by it's 4gb vram limit, more worth buying seems to be the RTX 3050 as that's a direct successor to 1650ti's and also in the same price slot, maybe it's 4gb vram is justified as it will keep it's price low! But the 3050ti's definitely not much worth buying untill you are getting it for low bucks, or else get the 3060's in that price segment

I'm fine with the 3050 having 4Gb, because it's a 1650TI with RT cores and Ampere's doubled SU's. I genuinely don't understand why they bothered releasing the 3050TI, which is more of a 1660/TI replacement, but with only 4Gb of VRAM. Assuming Nvidia isn't releasing their next generation within the next year, I think the TI would have been better as a refresh of the 3050 with more VRAM (preferably somewhere in the 6-8Gb range, more than likely 8).

Ive been plahing RDR2 on the 3050ti, and if you play around with the settings, youll be able to have most on ultra with DLSS enabled. It looks beautiful and plays at over 60fps

Can you show results for 3050 limited to 35W? This version will be put inside new Lenovo Ideapad 5 Pro. There will also be 1650 version.

Limited to 35W the RTX 3050 performance will be really bad. If you want to game, buy a gaming laptop. The IdeaPad is just an Ultrabook with GPU.

@@Ghostsonplanets It's not that bad. My Asus Flow X13 with GTX1650 Max-Q 35w could play most AAA titles on 1080p low-mid settings at 50fps.

I feel that to be a 3000 series, those FPS are extremeley low

Can't wait to see what the razer blade stealth 13" includes. Holding off until you benchmark it- probably gotta wait a lil. I'd assume the 3050- but if it's a 3050ti I'll definitely be sold if they don't change much else apart from a slightly better keyboard

Same, the news about 3050 popped up a few days after I picked up the omen with 1660Ti and I'm glad I did, 3050 laptops are going to be pretty bad esp. if the manufacturer decides to lock it at 35w and cheap out on the cooling

Many months ago, when we made the decision to build these samples, we were still considering to offer either 3050 or 3050 Ti in XMG CORE series. But due to recent component price increases we figured that it just wasn't an attractive package anymore. But hope is not lost. We will have RTX 3050 Ti in a new entry-level product family under our XMG brand in the near future. It will have a slightly lower barebone cost than current XMG CORE series and will be built around only having the essentials and no bling-bling. For example: plastic chassis instead of metal, 1080p screen only (no 1440p option), no Thunderbolt, no PCIe Gen4 SSD slot (only Gen3) and it will still have space for an old-school 2.5" SSD or hard drive. It's going to have a new name, which I am not allowed to reveal yet. Coming this summer! :-) // Tom

looks like the 3050/3050ti is a little bit faster than a 2060 mobile but the only downsides are the ram. they should atleast give the TI 6GB of RAM

They really should stop producing 4gb graphic cards Almost every new game needs either a bit more or a lot more than 4gb 6gb should be the minimum imo

I paid less for RTX 3050 ti with Ryzen 5 6600h RTX 3050 with Intel Core i5 12500h. Was it worth it? I'm having a great time with fps and graphic just wanted to know your thoughts. The difference was only like 8 dollars. But we can get a decent gaming mouse in where I live.

here to save you time they're both pretty even in terms of performance and the ti is only worth it if the price difference isn't that high

Are you really sure MUX is not present? I mean, the same laptop, named ELIMINA PRO by PCSpecialist, when had the 10th gen + 3060 (as like the previous XMG Core incarnation) did ship with a borked BIOS but could be flashed to newer one and MUX appered back. It was hidden because of lack of QC (XMG's TOM said), but the hardware was there. Did you check the BIOS to really be sure there is anything to turn this on in this 11th gen machines (I wonder they must ship with even newer BIOS).

There's no option in the software and Tom confirmed the 3050 models don't have it, 3060 one does though.

Can confirm, based on Intel Core 11th Gen: RTX 3060 and higher have official MUX switch. RTX 3050 Ti and lower will not. And please tell me more about this unofficial BIOS update to bring MUX online on the 10th Gen + RTX 3060. As far as I understood, it was not a lack of QC (quality control) but a lack of validation has lead to some MUX-related SMT components not being included in those boards. Though I have to admit, I don't know all the facts on this topic because the Comet Lake + Ampere generation was a bit of a "hush-hush" transitional generation anyway. // Tom

@@xmg_gg Bios 1.07 had the MUX disabled. BIOS 1.09 brought it back. That happened to several E21 models of Tongang, basically any model with P/N GMxMGxx. I've seen PCSpecialist Elimina Pro (aka XMG Core Intel variant likes) got the MUX enabled back upon flashing.

Being monopoly for too long does that to you, same shit happens to intel. Luckily we have AMD to stir up the competition. If Nvidia doesn't get their shits together soon enough, AMD might just take over the laptop market (at least from mid to low-end range due to better prices and performance)

These need to be priced around the same as 1650/1650 ti laptops around launch, else it's a pointless release

In my country GTX 1660ti is very costly, so I've to chose between rtx 3050ti and rtx 3050 which one should I go? Noting that both have exactly same spec just altered gpu, the rtx 3050 sells for $890 and the rtx 3050ti sells for $1040 so is it worth paying $150 more just for the ti version?

Still very respectable numbers. Hopefully the hardware is priced accordingly though. For another $150-200 you generally get a 3060 with two more GB and a 1440p screen

The difference is bigger if you choose the TI with 95W because at this moment, there are no 3050's with higher power than 80W

I would love to get a RTX 3050Ti on the Razer Blade 13 or even on an eventual 14 inch version of it. I'm more into portable gaming.

Since it's for laptops, I think content creation matters more. I'm more interested in being able to edit in Premiere Pro and render something in After Effects. Beats integrated graphics by a long shot so lol.

Thanks for the comparisons, but I don't get why are you commenting on the difference in the top settings (Ray-tracing, ultra) when absolutely nobody that owns a 3050 or a 3050ti will play on those. The High and Medium stats are very useful tho. My conclusion is that yeah, only a 5% difference on Ultra settings but 25-50% difference on the settings you're actually gonna play.

Everyone is saying that VRAM is so important that it's the bottleneck of these cards. Would that mean that paying 400 dollars more for a 3070 compared to a 3060 is worth it just for the extra VRAM?

Nope, the 3060 has 6gb vram so it's kind of better for longevity than these puny 4gb cards. Also the performance difference between 3060 and 3070 is just 10-15% at comparable TDPs. So imo it's not worth it to spend money on the 3070. 3060 laptop is the best value out there in the current GPU crisis.
