Tabs are for the pelvic soft armor "dangler" it was a mil issue item circa '05-'07ish. More of a groin protector used to stop ied shrapnel

Glad you said it cause I was just about to post a comment saying that. But yeah those ied's fucked up a lot of guys over in Iraq and in Afghanistan. I know the military also explored other options like kevlar woven boxer shorts before settling on the ol groin guard.

I bought this exact armor 18 months ago, minus the speed pouch. I've been pretty happy with it so far and looking forward to this armor test!

Tabs are to hang crouch padding to help catch shrapnel from explosions, that way it doesn't rip into your groin

I got a set of these. Very thick but the weight is great and they really cover a lot. Impressed with that carrier. Might pick up a full set soon to have as a backup.

I've had my rts rog for a year or so now. Train every week in it. It has held up so far. Good proce for what you get

Smashed up compromised ceramic and it held up very well. I think I'll be replacing my AR500 lvl 3+ plates with these. 2 pound lighter per plate and more protection. Great video.

Same armor setup I bought. I never shot at it so good to know it lives up to its rating. Definitely good quality.

Glad to see this video, bought mine about 6 months ago with a different carrier. RTS took about 2 months to complete order BTW.

Just got my RTS Lvl IV and am impressed for such a cost effective price point!

The tabs inside are for hooking up a belly protector plate set up. At least that is what they are for on my plate carrier, and they look the same.

I purchased one earlier this year.. no side plates but wish I had them now so go ahead and spend the extra and get them they are a great advantage when in combat. I've never been in any but from tons of research like he said in the video lots of guys eas shot thru the side. Over all the carrier fits great. I'm a medium shirt and ordered the same in the carriers and it fits absolutely perfect! Lots of room for adjustments to be made for wearing without shirt or with a big winter jacket. Don't hesitate to get one. EDIT: after one hit from any of these rounds I don't think your going to want to keep standing around waiting for another one to come. Just a note to remember.

The tabs are there so you can hook on Kevlar like groin protection or the base of your spine. Looks like a similar layout in comparison to the IOTV and the Solder Plate Carrier System.

@@Machi74005 Good luck. I was charged less than a week after I ordered and it has been two months. Called and dude said "yeah you'll get them in a couple weeks. STILL WAITING. RTS website says "delivered". UPS tracker has changed THREE times on when they will arrive.

Just ordered mine. Official level IV or no; you beat the snot out of it and it held up. Respectable price and almost most importantly in stock! Says 30 day lead time with COVID but even if that’s worse case it’s sooner than anywhere else I’ve seen

Mr. G&G. When I think about my needs for armor, I always consider 5.56 and 7.62×39. But, this makes me consider my needs may also look like 6.5, .243, .270, 7mm rem mag and so on. Great video, and certainly things to consider for me and what my needs might actually be.

Agree. There are who knows now many 7mag bolt guns out there in addition to the others . I have two "AR-10" in 243win , in my area 243win ammo is still available and reasonable price in addition to my reloads.

Thanks for the well thought out and executed test on this kit. I was hoping someone would do exactly what you did. From my research I thought RTS Tactical won the best value proposition for body armor so I placed my order. So glad I did but from my experience, expect the wait and with no updates or shipping notifications which I can live with. 6/11 I ordered this kit. 7/27 30-business days since order. 8/1 Package arrived UPS ground. LUV IT! RTS Tactical - Shut up and take my stimulus check!

Looks like a decent quality carrier and plate setup within in my price range. I’ll be checking this out for sure

The two inner loops are for adding a groin Kevlar to protect your nuts from shrapnel. I believe they have full pelvic girdles you can attach as well. Looks something like EOD technician gear.

I ordered and received mine within 2 weeks or less. No problem at all. I'm pretty sure around the time you ordered the carriers (fedx,ups) was way behind. Not the company.

I've been waiting for you to review the rts line.. I thought it was too cheap to be good. Buying now!

Out of the budget plates you've tested which ones do you prefer? You have the most comprehensive list of tested armor so far on KZread.

The thought of rifles just reminded me to buy SWBI (Smith and Wesson) stock this month. A stay in Miller V. Becerra will instantly sell thousands of M&P15s in California!

I love how you keep busting out all these cool guns/rifles. You make it so nonchalant but for a guy who doesn't have much it's cool to see you just whip out different rifles.

Just FYI there's still a .75" foam strip that goes to the edge of the RTS plate. The ceramic doesn't extend to the edge of the plate :D

Just FYI....armor is supposed to protect vital organs, so if you're shoot you don't die instantly, or within a specific time period.

Those tabs are for nut protection and lower spinal protection. You hook them in there and they dangle down.

The loops on the inside are probably for attaching a groin protector. The Marines call them Ladder Locks.

Got mine with the steel plates. They delivered in 3 weeks.

Those tabs on the underside of the plate carrier is for the groin protection insert

Maybe those tabs on rear or for a pouch like a joey pouch that hangs but would have to be propietary to that specific carrier J.S who knows great vid!!!

I noticed it too. Malfunctioned right after say “it’s still doing ok” haha.

I see the gold chain big pimpin! But on a real note I’d like to see a test where you leave some armor in the trunk of a car in the heat for a month or two and then light it up!

I was thinking about getting into building body armor as a side gig with tye demand we have. I got the Ar500 plates I can use to laminate fibers and I could very easily make atleast a level 2 or 3 equivalent.

I was about to say having a load port on the bottom of the rig is stupid. Those buttons and Velcro wear out over time. Strong or not. But seeing those straps to hold the plates in place is nice. I kinda like that.

They do look good in the reviews. And they do say to allow a 30 day lead time for orders. I ordered mine 9/14 so they might want to change that to “at least 30 days”. I don’t really blame them, demand must be ridiculous.

I just bought some RTS armor. I wish I had seen this video first. I still would have bought it, but I would have been stressing a little less while I did so. It appears I will get my money’s worth.

I got some plates in 2024. Ordered and delivered in a week.

That 30-06 was current commercial pressure loading or was it the throttled back variety for Curio firearms?(I.E Remington’s M1Garand loading) Not that I’d like to take a hit from either.

Ordered mine Nov 28th and its here today on Dec 23rd! You can't beat that with an expected 2 month wait. 1 month is a lot better than 2 months. Don't worry about their worst case scenario timeframe. Go for it!

Hey, hope you and the family are staying safe. Curious if you have heard of Skarr ceramic plates and if so do you have any opinion on their efficacy. That and would using level 3a soft body armor behind the level 4 ceramic plates as truama pads and how much added protection that would be. Old video but those tabs on the inside of the front is to affix nut armor, like i had on my mtv in the marines. On the rear its to carry an oldschool but pack like what they had in the 90s and pretty useless to have assuming the front and rear plate bags are manufactured the same prior to assembly.
