Well that has always been my understanding, which is why I cannot see the point in guys I see either here on KZread or in person who race on these eight inch tires. Immediately go to grooving and sipping a brand new tire up. Then as stated in this video they essentially are slower with all that extra grooving and sipping. Since again it was my understanding that the reason was to get more nights out of it, not to play tic-tac-toe on the tire. Moreover, most tracks that extra grooving only seems to help in hotlaps/qualifying and possibly in the heat race. Yet by feature time it is not going to do a whole lot to help with forward drive or side bit! Soooo why would I want to completely cut up a brand new tire with grooves that will only hurt me in the feature, because I can see it with guys here on KZread who run these eight inch tires. (Outside the track staying heavy all night, by feature time, I know that I don't want those excessively grooved tires. Since the tire is most normally going to be hard packed, so it will be more like a pavement track, in which you don't want the tire to be cut up like a tic-tac-toe board.)
