It be a tough choice, as I'm a fan of the CP2 engine. I've owned a MT07, but not a R7. While I test rode a RS660 before buying a RSV4 Factory. The RS660 felt like Aprilia's answer to the everyday kinda comfortable sportbike for the market. That said I think the R7 looks slightly better, but the RS660 trumps the R7 in features and a better rider triangle.

The cp2 does not belong in a sport bike. It has no power up top. I think it’s great in the mt-07 however

I love all sorts of bikes, and I absolutely love the sound of the RS660. I'm big into building old 4 cylinders and old harley's and those all have an amazing sound... although they're not as fast lol. I am just particular like that tho. I can definitely see why the RS660 is more practical for riding often.

The RS660 is better than the R7 in many different ways. I ended up buying the R7

more power, more technology, decomposed chassis, greater refinement. RS660 is another level.

Your the first person say what I’ve been saying for a year! The R7 is not aerodynamic, and the wind pushes me on the freeway and even on the street at 50 mph. Yeah I’m not crazy lol 😂

I forgot to mention that my brother has a sick bike... A modified 2014 Yamaha FZ-09 I'll have to get him to write down everything it has, but the main mods that I know it has are... A full Akrapovic exhaust system with Header. A custom tune... Not sure the type? It has a K&N type of drop in air filter... I forget the brand. It has front and rear sprockets for better gearing and an upgraded chain. It has a lightweight, better flowing with more capacity, radiator that says FZ-09 on it. Custom lighter weight forged front and rear wheels. This is not a major mod, but we both have and love our Dunlop RoadSmart3 tires on our bikes. He also has a lot of cosmetic mods that look amazing. I'm sure I missed some performance mods lol... I'll list everything the next time I see him. Ttyl

the rs660 is so fun. the r7 is a bit clunkier with the power delivery i test rode both at cota and the rs660 was definitely the better choice, ergo wise, feel wise, and sound wise

Hopefully the r7 is geared a little taller than the mt07. Im borrowing a buddies mt07 and it’s definitely quick in the mid range but runs out of steam pretty quick

Hello, R7 is a great little bike and should be perfect entry level for the track and also ok on the road for twisty blasts. The RS660 on the other hand would be an awesome bike for the road and awesome on the track. Aprilia need to produce a Factory version. In the looks department the Aprilia wins by a mile, cos the R7 looks too R1/6 like and has less suspension tuning capabilities, yes it'll cost more new but the quality is right there with Aprilia.

if the RS660 was more reliable, it’d objectively be the better bike. being more expensive and less reliable tho doesn’t make it a great deal imo. I have an R7 and wouldn’t trade it for an RS660, reliability is king.

Sold my RS660 for a Yamaha R7. When I bought my RS660 and took ot for my first service 3 RS660's were in the shop for issues. And when I eas picking my bike up a Stars & Stripes was being delivered with issues. The RS660 is cool but most kf thise features you don't sven use. The R7 is far more reliable, much cheaper maintenance, much more available parts and overall the better daily rider.😂

Hey Tuck! Maybe you've answered this question a bunch of times before, but why 660 class, not 600 or even a litre? Many people say that it's not fun to ride such motorcycles and they're slow, at least after some time. Personally, I'm getting my first bike this year and already decided to purchase an RS660 that I'm planning to use for the next 4 years or so, especially, since I'm getting the restricted version for the first 2 seasons (I don't have a car license, in my country you need it for full moto license, or you need to have at least 2 years of restricted license). I think it's a great bike and I already love it, but I'm afraid that after some time it can become boring to ride and I'm not going to be able to keep up with my litre or 600 buddies ( Btw, I'm living in Eastern Europe, so the idea of getting a litre bike seems to be a bit silly, we just don't have roads like that and everything is always covered in speed cameras.

i have a aprila 125 2022 brand new for 5 months I know u cant really compare 125 to rs660 but the build quality and relialily for aprila is actually dog sht tbh

100 horsepower vs 75 no brainer as to the winner. Not sure why yamaha would build such a slow bike and call it a R7 Ducati 749r makes 120 HP 20years ago

I think it’s a pretty fair comparison , both bikes are raced against each other in the MotoAmerica twins cup.

R7 is trash... heavier, less torque, less horsepower, smaller tank, uglier.
