RR7618A NORTH SEA OIL THE DIVING RISKS

(3 May 1976) RR7618A NORTH SEA OIL THE DIVING RISKS
More than twenty divers have been killed in North Sea
oil operations over the last four years, working on
tasks more dangerous and more difficult than their
profession has ever encountered before. The casualties
have prompted the British government to create a national
diving standard and an agency now monitors diving schools
and awards certificates for approved courses. The
exploitation of North Sea oil has demanded new diving
techniques, especially saturation diving" in which divers
live and work under pressure for several weeks at a time.

Mine too, he’s sat in the back of the classroom in this video, just out of shot but there’s a closeup of his mate next to him, otherwise great footage of the back of his head haha

Wait, how do you get sucked into a pipeline if it is closed? And how is this the divers fault? I don't know much about diving but this doesn't sound right. Did they make him work on a live pipeline?

Hydraulic action creates suction as there is a differential pressure between pipe at surface and pipe at depth...

Exceprin the fact that is very dangerous the helium its a gas tha comes from uranium directly. Dont do it thre are rovs and one athmospherical diiving suit. Ill say tha rovs are quite enough to do the job! Thank you fellow divers. Best regards from Cluj Napoca Romania!
