I think Lupe’s hit harder, was more direct and more personal which in rap beef gets the nod. And almost always gets the win. As for wordplay, punchlines, flow, double entendres, multi-syllabic rhyme schemes and patterns etc, I think Royce takes all those categories. Also if Royce went first, I have a feeling he held back and was “testing the waters” and was more of a lyrical exercise for him. Similar to duppy freestyle vs story of addinon . Duppy was the better song, but story of addinon wins all day in “rap beef”

He won an insult contest but lost mechanically. Lupe has a Jayz cadence, not saying Jay can't rap but he doesn't exactly get complex with the rhyme schemes in the same way other lyricists do. He's more about wordplay and delivery than rhyme schemes and rhyme schemes is what made a rapper like Banks so lethal. Delivery and wordplay is what made a rapper like Jayz so lethal. I think Lupe can pull out a slightly more impressive flow than Jayz at his best and as far as going off he didn't at all in his diss. Lupe at his best would give Royce trouble at his best and we haven't seen the best from either. Mickey on the other hand probably thought his diss was his best work lol. Royce is one of my fav rappers of all time. I love Royce's approach with word play to make a song. Lupe overall was punching alot harder and staying on the point of battling Royce. So lupe wins because he was bn direct, but any of us in the comments can replicate a verse just as good or better. Royce was a little less direct, because that's how you start a round 1 for some people, but none of us can replicate what he wrote. Just not sure why lupe wins...

I feel like Lupe set the bait with an unofficial freestyle on IG LIVE. Knowing how Royce is; laid a bar festival on wax showcasing his lyrical prowl. Lupe responded, not too lyrical, but DIRECT. Only proving that in a battle you gotta go for the neck..not just lay bars out. Royce, we know you can rap, but this is a battle..should've gone wit a more direct approach. Lupe makes songs, dude can sing...you hear it in the intro, but dude has that fire in him

I fux with Royce but his track was like 15% diss 85% why my flow is great. Lupe's shit was way more direct. 100% diss. Even tho sonically Royce's sounds better, I gotta give it Lu. Royce is still one of my favorites and is probably the best aged rapper in the game.

Problem is his (Royce)flow is whack compared to someone like Chino XL even over a decade ago his flow is 100x this.... Suppose he's still better than over exaggerated cadence rappers of the modern era, like they need to over emphasise words for the fucking stupid... And I'm a big Royce fan (well till he went back to being Ems bitch, no issues i still rock the OG Bad meets Evil shit..)

The two disstracks are PERFECT to understand that Royce has zero idea what interesting and well written lyrics are. The rhymes are crazy but nothing is memorable, it jsut comes and goes. And you re left with nothing. Because its all just rapid fire gibberish that falls apart on closer examination, and is just kept together by alot of (excellent) rhyming. So yes... If we re counting how many syllables rhymed ... Royce won. But everybody knows who won. Just like everybody knew who the better lyricist is between the two. Lupe knew going into this. Royce knew. Lupe's was definitely tailor maid for Royce's casket.

Even though we got dope verses, I enjoyed when they had a podcast together more than this. I hate that they ended all of what they were building together.

I'm a bigger Royce fan than Lupe, but if you think Royce won this round you probably didn't understand what Lupe was saying. Royce was calling him a nerd with the title and Lupe flipped it. You might have to listen to Lupe's like three or four times the grasp the leathalness!
