watching that, especially the overhead shots makes me wish I kept my trainset -awesome viewing!
Excellent footage there Iain, especially the Pickering turntable shots
Great video, especially the overhead view. Looks like the drain in the bottom of the turntable pit needs a bit of clearing out. the pit is starting to look like a duckpond!
The overhead shot shows how they squeezed a lot, into a thin slice of land, on a bend.
Excellent footage as always.
Brilliant ! Thanks very much 👍

Those red light failed shows because didn’t take test on the road yet
Those turnstiles years ago, were really ahead of their time. Other than the humans pushing them, I was really impressed with the design. Thanks for this days video. Cheers mates! 🇬🇧👍🙂🇺🇸
I'm putting together a blog of my visit including my stills, could I use this video with the appropriate credit to whoever took it? It would be brilliant if I could.
Whoa, that was a good bit of shoehorning in!
Excellent coverage Iain
It’s a pity there isn’t a turntable at Grosmont, or Whitby for that matter, then there would be no need to run the locos in reverse half the time.

That is true, although turntables take quite a while to excavate the table pit and to install the table

Is this drone footage with over dubbed audio? Great shots.
Amazing that you can turn these heavy locos by pushing them! Q. What is the size of this turntable? thanks

55 feet, I think. It's long enough for an 9F but too short for an A4 to be turned without separating the tender
The best preserved railway in England by far
The aerial shots (especially) were great, but where did you get the fifty-foot ladder from? (Kidding!)
Is it me or was the headboard on back to front?

Yes. The train was Empty Coaching stick to Pickering. It was common practice in BR days to turn the headboard round when there were no passengers in the train this the crew followed the same principle. Lol
Why has that turntable got no drainage? All that water will damage the workings.
Hope they turn it before l it leaves for a change
Who thought Green was a better colour than LMS maroon?
That water needs draining out. It’s not going to do the bearing mechanism any good.
I did the 100th view!
