Tornado Gala Spring gala on the NYMR (2009)
North Yorkshire Moors Railway Spring Gala 2009 featuring A1 Class No. 60163 'Tornado'.
The gala was run over two weekend between Friday 1st May 2009 and Sunday 10th May 2009.
The video also contains footage of the Tornado photo charter at the NYMR on the 5th May 2009.
We also Tornado in 'Works Grey' at Darlington North Road, where the loco was built during August 2008, prior to the loco running its mainline trials.
We then see Tornado on its proving runs on the mainline followed by its first mainline rail tours.

The superb videography definitely enhanced the already-interesting subject matter, with good pre-planned placement of the camera for the best shots at good close and farther distances, the slow and steady pulls out from the scene at the right moments to give us more time to enjoy the view of the train passing, and a special mention goes to the pleasing footage at the bridges. I hope other train video creators will watch this and pick up a thing or two about how they could make their videos better. 🤗
I’m so glad they brought this beautiful machine back from the dead. Now for the P2, can’t wait to see her in action.
