This song is known as Army of the Nile, and has a bit of history. It was made to commemorate the British forces during the North African campaign. I am playing this song in band, and it isn't an easy piece, even whilst stationary. This is amazing that they managed to perform this piece so well, all whilst marching.

This is modelled on the first half of Commando training, with differences made due to the different nature of the RMBS job roles. The skills learned here are then refreshed each year, with intensive training serials before deployments. Many of the RMBS wear medals from Afghanistan, Iraq, Kosovo, Sierra Leone, Northern Ireland and beyond. During WWII in Italy, a British major and an American lieutenant were occupying the same fox hole while the German artillery was severely pounding their position. The American, who later wrote about it, admitted that he personally was really shaken up. When the shelling ended, he looked at the British major, and the Brit looked calmly about, and commented "Well, Jerry's had his little bit of hate." You gotta admire those guys!

A heart throbbing display of Marine precision, and musical and marching finesse. My fellow U.S. Marine buddy, always remembered the men of 41 Commando enroute to the Frozen Chosin, in the worse weather imaginable, breaking the ice each day so they could shave. They'd snap to and fall in like they were on a parade muster, before taking off on patrol into Chinese territory. The combined bands are a testimonial to their glorious battlefield history.

This band is GOOD...just watch and enjoy. Those drummers! Just wow!

Royal Marine Band are ok but will never be in the same class of the Scottish army pipers. The marine band have the luxury of having the music in front of them whilst pipers have to knock their pan off on in learning every note and grace note off by heart probably ten times the work. As a Piper myself I could walk into a band in no time knowing I had the music right in front of my eyes. Not only is the pipes a much more difficult lesson to master but learning tunes is another thing. Different league altogether

What a great performance by the Massed Bands of HM Royal Marines ……. probably the finest performance ever seen by this group of highly professional military musicians and drummers ….. the music is exemplary, the drill is faultless with perfectly straight lines/ranks and the "showmanship" is just outstanding, especially when the bands march onto Horseguards Parade and they split into FIVE separate bands, marching away from each other band. Faultless indeed.

One of the best things I've seen in my life, very uplifting. There is one tiny little mistake at 5.19 in when one of the drum corps raises their sticks when nobody else does (2nd row) - I don't care, but I bet they got some stick- pardon the pun, for that.
