As a Finn, can confirm that conscription is very much supported by the majority of Finns. Serving in the army truly brings the people together and there is a strong willingness to defend our country. Everyone has the basic skills to survive in difficult conditions. You can take a group of random men and throw them into the woods and they will have a jolly time with no problems for long times, almost any random group of people can form a basic fighting unit with basic skills. We value our independence. Willingness to defend your own country against a superior enemy is at 83% which is highest in Europe. History has thought us to take care of ourselves and we value keeping things under our own control. Si vis pacem, para bellum.

@@MissEldira pretty silly take, turn it around, we (im swedish) have had divides between rich and poor, i assume fins have had the same. Being in a group with others of other backgrounds make you realise that we are not that different from each other. Dosent matter how rich your father is or where he was born, we all freeze the same. I believe that wide conscription increase cohesion regardless of what you start with, Swedens current conscription is probably to narrow to have any large effect to that end but I'm guessing it will be expanded on.

Your new buddies on the other hand do not think they same as you do. This is not a divide between rich and poor, this is on genetic lines and those that are inwardly friendly and outwardly hostile like your new buddies are going to win in the genetic competition. @@AndreasLarsson-vo3om Yep, I agree. In my experience when conscripted we were all the same. Wearing green and having short haircuts. Your actual backround had zero meaning. Your value was based on performance and comradery within your team and unit. If you were a good guy pulling your own weight you were respected. It was kinda funny to realise how different we were once service ended and seeing everyone in civilian clothes the final day. Punk rockers, hiphoppers or suit guys and everything in between mixed up. 😁 All being buddies together and having a good time. In the army what mattered was purely based on what happened in between your ears and that is how everyone truly united. Rich, poor or anything else different in civilian world. @@MissEldira That's not how it's seen in Finland. Conscription has always been a uniting factor in Finnish society, military service is a place where young people from different backgrounds, including immigrants nowadays, meet. And it's clear that the aging nation needs skilled immigrants, it's simply statistics.

This has happened in Sweden too but over the years it hade drasticly reduced in numbers. Most of it happened during the cold war with the soviet union and the 2 airforces played abit of cat and mouse with eachother flying along the edge of the border and tested if they could sneak in. It happened even after there fall but the amount of times have steadily been going down over a long time. There are rumors however no side has confirm or deny that over the many years that Sweden actually shot down a Russian jet that couldent get away.

Having Finland as an ally is a great addition to NATO. My grandfather's brother served with the Swedish Voluntary Corps in Finland 1939 - 1940 and although he rarely said anything bout the war, WHEN the topic would come up, he would talk about the bravery of the Finns and ended up marrying a Finnish lady. Finland and Sweden have a lot of shared history. Finland was part of Sweden - or in other words, Sweden's Easternmost region - from around 1150 to 1809 after which it became an autonomous part of the Russian Empire .The two countries have been training together long before becoming NATO members. Great channel, I'm subscribing right away...

I where a Border Guard Jaeger and I can tell you that the border against Russia is mostly forest and bogs.. There aren't many roads at all, and it's nothing like it was in Ukraine.. They had these vast areas for tanks and other military vehicles to drive on... In Finland all roads/bridges are already prepared for explosives. That is actually a law that you must build these bridges so they are prepared to be blown to pieces... All our forest areas near where we believe the enemy could come from is also prepared. Have in mind that we have been prepared basically since 1944.. 🇬🇧🇺🇸🇺🇦🇮🇱🇸🇪🇳🇴🇩🇰🇫🇮💪🙏

Based on what we have seen in Ukraine, we have been prepared just for the right threaths. Their doctrire is just what we have assumed and our way of defensing is just the correct one. BTW its not a coinsidence where the reserve officer school is located. Or might be, but at least we take a good advantage of it. All army reserve officers have trained in the area what would the Russian main attacking direction. I, as an artillery reserve officer, have measured tens of positions already there. Well there will be no full US bases in Finland (or Sweden, as they will have the same agreement). Finland (and Sweden) will grant access to existing bases of the Finnish Defence Forces or the Finnish Border Guards. So, no new bases will be set up. If you are interested about the Defence Cooperation Agreement, I will post a link to a page where you can read the English version of it. It contains an annex where it lists all the military areas to where US will be granted access. I will post it to a comment to this so that YT will not remove it. heh, Russia has not transferred any troops to the border. So far, this has been only hot air, and only just that. In fact Russia has pulled up to 80% from the border bases and send them to Ukraine (where many units have been decimated). And they have not made any moves to replace them in Ukraine or here, at high north.

As a reservist from Finland the only dissapointment is that I had my service way too early. It would have been extremely cool to be able to train with NATO troops. I have been supporting Finland´s NATO membership since the 1990ies, so I think all of this is only a very good thing. And to get Sweden also, only more positive things. I´ve always said that if Russia would not have wanted Finland to join NATO, they should have not made it to be the last country on the Russian Western border that is not being attacked by Russia, does not have any Russian troops in it and was not in NATO. Additionally Finland is slowly (but surely) extending the mandatory service to women also. This year they are having a pilot program in a couple of the military districts, where also all women are required to attend the call-up day. Thought at the end of it, they can still opt out from service.

There was a pact made for the US to deploy at 15 Finnish bases; which isn't that much different. It's giving the US unlimited access (or unimpeded access) to those 15 bases + training grounds. We signed a similar pact in Sweden, and back in 2022 with Norway. Russia would have to build the largest naval fleet ever to even operate in the baltic sea now, as any ship in those waters will be surrounded by NATO, it forces them to have to use the north sea which has a huge border with Norway, where Himars launchers with the new Prism missiles that are replacing the ATACMS missiles, with a 500km range. couple that with the fact that the terrain in finland favors the defender to such a degree, once the US Bolsters Finland's air defenses with Patriot, THAAD and Aegis it will be nearly unassailable. It's a strategic and tactical blunder of such a degree that it will go down in history....literally making sweden who has been neutral since the goddamn rennesance era basically join the world's largest military alliance. Then we get access to all that cool tech that sweden develops I think the US should spend a large chunk of money in Finland and Sweden to bolster their manufactoring capacity which will directly help Ukraine and the Alliance. So that Sweden can build more Gripens, so that we can build more 155mm artillery and 233mm GMLRS and GLSBD for HIMARS launchers. Ukraine really should be getting the Gripen over the F-16, just due to how it can take off from dirt roads and only needs 3 enlisted and 1 officer for maintence, with their powerful pivoting AESA radars, that's the aircraft Ukraine needs to take it's skies back.

@@ExarchGaming It is the DCA what you are talking about? Easier to write DCA than "agreement" or "pact". Have you actually read it? So, there will be specifically designated areas for the US in the areas listed on the annex of the agreeement. The US will not get "full access"" to the whole areas. And it is not actually 15 bases but 15 military areas, in total. That list of 15 areas has, for example, 5 depots. I think Sweden and Finland have already had quite extensive military technology trade agreeements for a long time. Finland has not planned to purchase any new air defcen systems. Because for close range air defence Finland has a bunch of different, and deadly, ammunition based systems. On the missle side (for short range) it has ASRAD-R, Crotale and the familiar to all, Stinger. For medium range it is the NASAMS and for the long range Finland just bought the David´s Sling. But any Russian missile system anywhere close to the Finnish border will have a bad day if they start any schenanigan. Especially after Finland gets the F35. The F/A-18s have the AGM-158 JASSM now but the F35s will have the AGM-158B JASSM-ER. And the MLRS systems are going an upgrade and will get the designation M270A2 (in addition to one older Czech mapgrid clearing system).

There are no bases coming. This permission to use is therefore only practical when thinking about exercises, for example, because previously the USA was only allowed to use ports located in southern Finland, and the last time, for example, the exercise was in the north. It's a different thing to unload a ship and transport it less than 400 km than to transport it more than 1000 km from the south of Finland. The same applies to warehouses and others, it doesn't always make sense to ship e.g. arctic goods even back, which are only needed in winter in Lapland. Just practical stuff, nothing revolutionary.

The big change after Sweden and Finland is that Russia have considered all Baltic Sea a part of their territory. Russia have regularly used Swedish archipelago as a practice ground for their submarines. What happened was they park a number of ships and submarines on international waters. Then they send minisubs and scuba divers inside Swedish territory to practice. This way of operating is well known for the Swedish military. But you know. Use force to defend Swedish ground and bring Russian desist military personnel or equipment to the surface is a declaration of war. And well… Swedes outside NATO wouldn’t benefit from this. Rumours say not all Russian operations have been successful in the eyes of Putin. But the cleaning up afterwards has been done in silence. So in the light of this using the new nickname Nato Sea really makes Putin mad. And all of a sudden. They lost all their practice ground in the area. Where we really need to reinforce the defence now is the Swedish west coast. This for example Gothenburg is the 2nd biggest harbours in Europe when it comes to goods volumes. And that is really in the interest of all Europe to defend.

US will probably not get their own bases in Finland. Finland has though granted them access to several Finnish military bases and areas, which probably are those 14 you are talking about. It is still a very important thing for Finland, that we can and we will defend our own country. Nato is just an additional deterrence and full US bases here are currentlu unlikely. Everybody here knows we are well capable to defend ourselves, but the Nato gives the nuclear umbrella and additional security.

Like I said a few days ago when people where talking on a YT channel about sending troops to Ukraine. Why not just move like 500k soldiers up north to Finland and another 500k to the baltics, like Russia can't ignore that and would have to move their own closer reducing the amount they would be able to support the Ukraine war with. We can state it from the start that we are not going to invade and its only a training excercise for the logistics to move and support the equipment. Like who would lie about something like that so they would have to believe us, with some luck they panic and we have no other option than defend ourselves from their attack. We should mvoe around all NATO troops even to Alaska to make em sweat a bit, maybe a excercise in the pacific with Japan. They have been going on about NATO being this and that so like in all team sports, even without the ball you move around to make the opponent react and maybe make a mistake your team mate can use to their benefit.

Finland had mandatory service all the time, Sweden had a 10ish year break and are back to mandatory service. But dont forget, by law at least we Swedes are not allowed to leave the country, by law we will be forced in to the military defence if the age, health and pre-military training have been done. if you not you will be put in the civilian defence force, like firefighters, police, and other jobs. you can be moved from your privet job if Swedish gov think they need you somewhere else. and you cannot say no. you cannot say no neither of them. i heard some people complaining about Ukraine that the men cannot leave and are force to stay. Well yea, same law here. Ukraine is not the only one and i am pretty sure same is in other countries and those who complain should look what the law say in their country before any war starts.

Kaliningrad is a problem. But now after Sweden and Finland joining Nato we have an opportunety to grab that, and Imthink that would work because now it’s nolonger a strategic property of land for russian like it was during the. Old war. Also we have seen public uprisings against russia in Kaliningrad so it makes sence. By doing that you would also solve the HUGE problem withe the Sulvaki corridor.

But who's gonna "grab" Kaliningrad? Poland doesn't want it, Lithuania doesn't want it and Germany doesn't want it. Russia actually tried to give away Kaliningrad back in the 1990s but nobody was interested in it. In theory it's possible to establish Kaliningrad as an independent microstate but it would be an economic disaster zone. In 2021, before the sanctions against Russia, Kaliningrad imported goods for 652 million USD and only exported for 218 million USD. That's an insanely big negative trade balance for such a small region.

It has been far from given that the swed-Finn alliance would join nato. Sweden has been neutral for 200 years, through both world wars. The last war was when the Swedish empire fell and Finland was lost to Russia. I think it would’ve been better if we made a Nordic alliance without US. We were just a couple of years away from having our own nuclear arsenal and we would have three blocks in the world instead of two. It’s way too bipolar now.

I just looked at the first part, and no, Russia has only said that they will move troops to the Finnish border, but if you follow news from Finland, the opposite has actually occured. The Russian land bases bordering Finland are actually to a high degree emptied. There are some resources left, but very much has been moved since the start of the full sized Russian attack on Ukraine. Furthermore, it could be good to follow the news, or at least check before you make a video, if Sweden and Finland have joined Nato formally, which all people following regional Nato related news ought to know. Well, these points made me question if you actually fully know the subject you are making a video about, and hence I stopped watching your video. You probably are serious and have an at least partly relevant background, but perhaps you aren't orientated enough to make this specific video.

You are not a smart person, because Russia literally created 2 new military districts this year, it is literally 600,000 thousand soldiers. No one will transfer Armies from Ukraine. In Russia, unlike NATO countries, 80% of men have served and are considered to be in reserve. Therefore, Russia's mobilization resource is almost limitless. If you think that Russians can be scared, then look at the map. It seems like a military man but you live in dreams. When you put Nato bases in Finland, it will be automatically marked for nuclear strikes. Russia should not be scared by its pathetic troops who have never fired a weapon in their lives

Luk 17:27 They did eat, they drank, they married women, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noach entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Luk 17:28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; Luk 17:29 But the same day that Lot went out of Cedom Yahuah rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Luk 17:30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of A’dam is revealed. Luk 17:31 In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back. Luk 17:32 Remember Lot's woman. Luk 17:33 Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it. Luk 17:34 I say unto you, it shall come to pass that two shall be on a couch; one is received and the other forsaken; Luk 17:35 It shall come to pass that two shall be professing the Truth for the same; one is received and the other forsaken. Luk 17:36 It shall come to pass that two shall be in the field; one is received and the other forsaken. Luk 17:37 And they answered and said unto him, Where, Adonai? Hmm.. I'd say that presentation only looks at some more short term, & almost superficial changes in the region.. Which kind of makes sense, coming from a newspaper & a nation with somewhat short history & historical memory.. The more important results of Finlands & Swedens NATO accession I'd argue is, first, it allows for Finland & Swedens continuation of rebuilding their old bonds from back when they were one nation. Rebuilding those bonds strengthens both nations, both militarily & otherwise. At the same it also opens up for a considerabe strengthening of Nordic cooperation, possibly leading towads some form of Nordic union.. & possibly including the Baltic nations aswell..This is something that hasn't been a real possibility since 1523, 500 years ago..🧐 A development in that direction would have a considerable impact on politics in pretty much all shapes & forms, not only in that local area..🧐

Why should any NATO forces be deployed near the Finnish-Russian border? The border is properly guarded as it is, considering Putin's forces in the area have mostly been sent to Ukraine for cannon fodder. The Finnish Border Guards and Defence Forces are accustomed to operating in the special circumstances of this region, and they can adjust their strength as needed - but for NATO forces, there is still a lot to learn, though they are certainly most welcome to get trained in it. Vehicle-based surface-to-air systems are also welcome, but training and deployment are different things and need to be considered for the needs of each time.
