I’m shocked you all aren’t more informed. The news was out almost 24 hours ago that all the PR concerning a supposed award for the Netflix series were only PR pieces. The new public relations firm, WME, is earning their money for sure. The Netflix show didn’t make any lists for any sort of award.

Southpark should get an Emmy nomination and win the award actually because they were spot on about the skidmarkles

Sorry to sound picky but I don’t think everyone watched the Harkles’ Netflix atrocity. I - and many others - made a point of not watching it because we didn’t want to drive their ratings up. If the series wins any awards, it would just indicate that they were bought or “influenced” via their new PR team.

No it wasn't. LOL. It was a very tame little documentary. No violence or sex. Are you...ok? Perhaps it's just because a Black woman was involved? really search yourself for why an innocuous documentary that told us what we already knew (the RF is made up of emotionally damaged/stunted upper-class weirdos who don't hug and are so narcissist and status-obsessed they bow and curtsy in private). What's so disgraceful about that? We knew. We saw their tone-deaf, weird as hell, out-of-touch reaction to Diana's death. These people are weirdos and don't live in the real world.

The critics award is nothing. The big award, the Emmy, they were not nominated.

It was a family memoir. And the only reason you think it's different from any other story about a family is because deep down, you - like Richard - think the RF is above you. You think that they are special. You think they are more important than ordinary people. You think their status means they are somehow above being the subjects of a mundane, even very loving and forgiving, documentary. You are NOT beneath this family of weirdos, tax evaders, and pederasts. The minute you realize that, all this will seem amusing and not disgraceful at all.

I think Queen Elizabeth's attitude was that she never wanted to be seen as having to be propped up, especially by a man. She wanted to appear as a pillar of strength. It was obvious at the end of her life how important that was to her. She embodied Great Britain. I think it was also important as a young woman in that position in her 20's, to never look as though she was not in charge and capable.

She was an entitled old bint who was such an insecure, status-obsessed narcissist she made her family curtsy to her (how normal and healthy!) who famously never once hugged her grandchildren. Her last public act was typical of a privileged, rich sociopath - making sure her son didn't face the consequences of his pederasty by paying off the former trafficked-child-sex-slave who had sued him. You know who else pays off sex slaves? Pimps. Like Logan Roy, she probably felt that "no real person was involved". Tell me how it's different? It isn't. She was a bad person, useless, a terrible mother and a terrible monarch who sat by as her governments killed and tortured foreigners. The only useful thing she ever did was die, and give us all a stat holiday. Truth hurts, doesn't it? I agree she embodied her small-minded, class-and-status-obsessed, vaguely hysterical (the stiff upper-lip is a myth - the English are the most unhinged and reactive people on earth, while claiming they aren't) people and country. But that's not a compliment. Great Britain is a sad place where everything is broken and dirty and living standards are garbage. So good on her for that.

Wisteria - a vapid little social climber with zero personality and an eating disorder, so dead inside that I am no longer expecting her to have a public nervous breakdown - which I was, for years. (She was still a real person behind those dead eyes even a few years ago.) She's been turned by that institution into a frump in bad clothes with no personality, so meek she can't even criticize austerity or the government to push her signature charitable endeavour - helping children in some vague way where she shows up and people curtsy at her. But she married well, I'll say that.

I am an American & love the RF. But it is a bit tedious to hear criticism about the King & Prince William’s work on the hungry & homeless. The King is the Head of the Church of England & the Gospels are clear on doing what we can for the hungry & homeless. They are putting faith into action!

I’m neutral and I thought it was an excellent docuseries. I loved it all and it was very insightful … there was no hate but simply they answered questions in response to false claims from tabloids about them. They highlighted the reason they left and spoke well of Harry’s late grandmother. The ending was was very touching too ❤

People watched it for the historical importance and we love to hear what conversations go on behind the palace walls but just because it was sensationalized doesnt make it a good docuseries. It was mostly PR propaganda

That was the last straw. And the almost repressed laugh as she came up, with that sideways look at Harry-said all you need to know about this person. I cannot conceive of that level of mocking disrespect being ignored by the late Queen’s supposedly loving grandson. Both of them deserve to be ignored and forgotten.

if you create a business that is successful which is rare. works hard and long. weather the ups and down Does that make you greedy? If you have provided jobs and either a useful product or service. Paid your taxes what more is expected. If they do it willingly fine but they are not obligated or should not be guilted into giving.

Remember this is only a nomination at that. Not given out to the Sussex's yet if at all. Very light weight 3 year young tiny organization and not highly known or highly influential.

Politicians will run campaigns on social issues, but nothing ever gets done. I applaud the Royals for these initiatives. We will see positive results, which of course politicians won’t like because it will highlight their ineffectiveness, and their disingenuousness.

Obscure award

As an American, I've never heard of the Hollywood Critics Award. I suspect it's another 2nd or 3rd tier award the Sussexes have been collecting. In the U.S., Emmys are for TV, Oscars for films, Golden Globes (presented by the foreign press association). Aside from Tony awards for theatre, those are the only significant entertainment. Much like the Sussex pair, the others are 'meh'.

As she is British and not a southerner from the U.S., I think Catherine would obviously have to be a "Steel Rose." Also, the thing about these "hollywood/celebrity" awards is that now (and maybe always) they are bought and paid for....who is nominated, who wins...it's all just self-congratulatory nonsense. If that sounds cynical, it's because it is cynical.

The Monarch is the Head of State just as the President is the Head of State for America. Therefore, they must meet as equals.

Not really, one is born into his position has done that job for his entire life, the other one is there for 4 years.

Elgin just took liberties. When the Queen very unusually allowed her to travel on the Royal Train with her. When they arrived and a crowd greeted them she very rudely went in front of the Queen and took flowers and shook hands in the crowd.

Question - why would Andrew need a vacation? What job does he have that is so demanding that a holiday is required to refresh him? I don't say this in a mean way, just curiously. So many of us commoners work tremendously hard at difficult jobs (sometimes 2 jobs) to make ends meet and can only dream of going on holiday, so poor Andrew's being bumped from "his" holiday home (that he doesn't pay for) does not elicit much if any sympathy. Looks like he's had a rather lovely free ride from his mum all this time that he's loathe to relinquish. Andrew earned respect for his service in the Navy but what has he done in the decades since?

No awards for that disgraceful show.

American here. NOBODY in the US has ever heard of the Hollywood Critics Awards. I googled it, and it turns out that it's kind of a shady organization. I'm guessing that the Harkles got nominated because the organization needs some press. No other reputable Hollywood actor or director would brag publicly about getting a nomination from this organization. The real news is that the Harkle's got an Emmy snub. The Emmy's are the gold standard as far as TV awards go here in the States. They were completely shut out.

The King and President Biden are both elderly gentlemen, - don't make too much of one man leaning in and slightly touching the other one on the back.

I'm an American and feel Biden is too touchy feely. I think that behavior has been pointed out to him on more than one occassion and he stiil continues to do it.

Yes, a bit too "touchy-feely" and "pal-sy" but I think if you viewed the whole thing, some of the touching was to help with Biden's balance as they walked. I think the King was proceeding slowly just so Pres. Biden didn't take a dive. It was better than Biden taking his arm, for sure. Chuckle.

It's Biden's way of schmoozing people to get them to like him and vote for him. And it works - people vote for him despite the fact that he is an idiot and when angered, a very nasty jerk.

Nio one's heard of these awards.It's Netflix trying some damage control.I guess.

No one gives a rip about that award… if they even know of it. The Emmy snub was glorious and that’s the one that matters.

That award is in the Z list of awards. Either Netflix or thrmselves nominated them for $300 because they didnt get any Emmy nomination

That mocking of our culture in particular hardly even six months before her majesty the late Queen was finally in the final resting place only to be mocked by Meghan Merkel is unforgettable and unforgiveable; the most detestable conduct of Harry just sitting next to her smirked in her obnoxious behaviour. I will not forget that rudeness from Meghan Merkel a real rebellious princess as she stated in 2014 to 2016.

The story here in the States is that H&M bought one (worthless/unrecognized) award and did not receive nominations for any legitimate awards (Emmy, etc).

I think I speak for your loyal audience when I say - you guys have to give us more than 20 minutes a week. We’ll tolerate advertisements or commercials - we just want you guys to get into more in-depth coverage!

Let alone suggested that they subject us viewers to *more* commercials or ad reads (as other KZread channels utilize) if that’s what it takes. Given how much can happen in a week, discussion about major events can often be rushed or kept very surface-level. Many of us tune in because we get to hear tidbits and insight, from commentators we’ve grown to adore, that we can’t hear elsewhere.

American Presidents and their wives are a bit ignorant when it comes to our British Royal family, as we know Americans don't accept Royal titles. I think if these Presidents come to Britain to meet our Royal family then they should be more respectful and follow Royal protocol.

I don’t care if you are a president or just some common worker, when you visit another country you should follow their protocol. I know Joe Biden thinks he’s the most important man in the world, but for all the democrats in America he isn’t

Love your show!!! As an American, I'd like to point out that we are more outgoing than our British cousins. And, although I am not a Biden fan, I feel his touching King Charles was more an instinctual gesture of friendship, as this is a natural behavior for us. Love from the USA!

It is funny that people from other countries are talking about that award nomination and don’t realize it is not a big award…it’s from a small group of critics in Hollywood. The nominations came out the same day as the Emmy Awards…which are big awards given by the entire Television Academy. They were NOT nominated for an Emmy though Netflix campaigned for them to be. 😀.

Loosen up about all the formal rules. My guess is that those two men like each other and a hand on the back is a little sign of fondness for the king. It's American warmth, not an insult.
