Excellent and informative video, Teacher T! The device and the App bring benefits to riders, but it is certainly a good way for Royal Enfield to have an online survey on the use of the motorcycle, problems, and areas for improvement. I think it's good for both parties. Especially here in Brazil, it will be very interesting to have a tracker in case the motorcycle is stolen, but that's until the thieves discover how easy it is to turn off the equipment.

Still only available in India at the moment. But the app will remember last signal if some one does remove it. It may roll out across the world Brazil has the Meteor now,? 🙏

Would be excellent as long as they don't use the information to dispute warranty claims. Tracking break in engine data, prolonged high revs ect. springs to mind. After all, car companies, as you mentioned, already use them to track their fleets, not to mention Tesla and others.

Engine oil levels, and engine heat sprang to mind for me. I think it will be like the tripper. Good and bad. But at the moment I use the tripper a lot, and am getting on well with it after initially hating it. 🙏

Regarding the Wingman I honestly don't know what to think?? Part of me thinks it's great and part of me thinks I want a little more privacy. I guess it boils down to how much do I trust RE? And at this point in time I trust them quite a lot actually and I really admire Siddhartha Lal and what he's done for RE and the motorcycling community. Sorry that's the best answer I can give at the moment.

I think now we all carry a mobile phone in our pocket, there is no privacy for any of us any more. Wingman, or not. But it is one more piece of tech insurance companies can use to avoid paying out on claims. That is the fear of most at the moment. Yes, RE as a brand has become a market leader these last few years. Management is doing something right. As well as the designers. 🙏

For the usb charger, I do believe it is possible as there's a blank accessory plug inside the headlight assembly. As for Wingman, other owners have fitted them/ got them with the bike, hearing mixed reviews on it. Some say it is fine, and others say they get spammed with warnings. I currently plan not to fit it, maybe down the line once everything is understood.

Thanks mate very interesting. One thing on the Kwakka...liquid cooled engines will never have the character of air cooled! Enjoy your Super Meteor they are incredible motorcycles, don't get caught up in 'the grass is greener on the other side myth' just my tuppence worth 😀

I can confirm that the usb Meteor 350 socket does Indeed fit the Super Meteor 650, I have done this modification on my Super Meteor. There is a connection inside the headlight which is used. 👍🏻

Hello Teacher T, from Australia. Thank you for the heads up on Wingman, I would myself like to see how it operates in practice , as I make no bones in my personal opinion, as not be a willing participant in these data mining exercises. We are inundated with so called " voluntary " data collection processes, which is profitable for the Corporates to exploit. I think Royal Enfield, are following the same Corporate practices in this highly competitive arena. As you pointed out, the actual cost benefits are an unknown factor. If it was more in the realm of the dealership, being able to plug into the " bikes" data and historical log, fine, the rest , as to where , why , how and when, I would be seeking a contract as to the distribution of this data. Thank you, I enjoy your work.

Thanks John. Yes it’s all a bit scary, especially if an insurance company can access it to see what speed you were travelling. But a benefit is being able to use GPS via satellites to contact the grid ream without a phone signal. Maybe an advantage for Australia if you had an unexpected break down? I have been using it for a while now. Like the details like odo reading as I keep my on trip a or b, and distance average speed top speed is useful, also time for the trip with the option to merge the trips.

Thanks for your input. Do you think Royal Enfield plan to launch it outside of India? Because all the promotional videos are in English? And how many Km/l are you getting at the moment. Mine has increased to 26 km/l at the moment. 🙏

Media in USA are reporting that car companies already use these systems by default and have been caught out selling user identified data to insurance companies. Drivers are finding their insurance costs skyrocketing due to the data being used against them. A hard no from me for this Tech.

Wow. I didn’t consider that. In Thailand it’s the bike that is insured, not the rider. So any one can ride it. But only covered 3rd party. 🙏

@@Teacher-T-Thailandsame in the US with the vehicle being insured but the issue is the insurance companies perceived risk to the asset they are insuring from the vehicles usage based on GPS telemetry of the driver or drivers e.g. speed, rapid acceleration, rapid breaking, cornering speeds, GForce data etc all go to building a profile on the vehicles usage i.e. risk profile but that profile will be associated against the insurance owner who also as you point out might not even be the driver. How many parents for example insure cars and let their kids drive them. Think of what a teen driver in the car for only few minutes could do to your insurance rating. LOL

Couldn't agree less with the comments, Chinese bikes have been using this for a while 😅. Hey, if someone wants to watch my bike when I'm not around "I'm all in". Most people Im guessing ride 2-3000 mile a year, if your lucky what useful data can anyone gain from that?If you don't want it disconnect and free up the network 😮👍

My phone has all the GPS, and tracking functions that I need, and more than I use - oddly enough it is also a phone and can be used for emergencies. Privacy concerns, and reporting to Big Brother on insurance, warranty, or policing issues is a big no for me. Seems about as useful to the Rider as controlling my toaster with a phone.

It’s on,y launched and trialed in India at the moment. But because it uses satellites for communication, the range is limitless I guess. 🙏

I’m trying to like this but I see little advantage. Giving up your privacy and sharing locations is worth considering. I’ll pass.
