Royal Enfield Classic 350 | Caton to Borwick | pls read description

Ойын-сауық

Hello, welcome to what is essentially part three of our ride in the Forest of Bowland.
This is the return leg, where we leave Caton Moor Wind Farm, where we finished part two, and head for home. As I explain in the video, this was mainly to try the audio from a Zoom H1N, which I had placed in the right hand pocket of my jacket. Unfortunately, the audio was awful, so I haven't used it, but the return ride is still worth sharing. Clementine, my Royal Enfield Classic 350, had the opportunity to stretch her legs a bit, after the relatively low speeds in the previous video.
I hope you enjoy this ride, and please leave a comment.
Thanks for Watching

An interesting video today. Love the sound that the classics make when the engine is shut off. The best sounding single.!!

Thank you. Did you watch the previous one, the sound of the 350 thumping up steep inclines is a joy to behold 😎. Yes, it’s an almost reassuring sound, which makes one tingle……oh, and yes I am ever so slightly mad 😂

That was very good Ian, luved it. It’s brilliant when you get to a t junction, do I go left or right? and no bloody road signs; irritating or what. You were on top form with the banter bud, nice one. Clementine is running like a dream; those J series motors are awesome. Thanx for sharing Ian, ride safe my friend.

Ian, if you're happy, mate, we're happy! 👍 That's a nice little extension of your earlier ride, though I can relate to your comment about lack of direction signage. As an occasional visitor to the UK, I find it extremely frustrating to get to intersections that have no signage, have to guess which way to go and only find out after I'm a couple of hundred metres through the intersection and signage finally appears, that I'm on the right or wrong road. Why on earth the signage isn't shown in advance of the intersection is a source of mystery - or perhaps it's simply due to British idiosyncrasity!

Thanks Chris. They probably haven’t been replaced since being taken down during WW2 😂. Someone being given the task, probably weighed the signs in for scrap 😂

Morning Ian, another thing I have had reasonable success with is fasten a external mic ( with dead cat ) to your jacket belt in the small of your back ( out of the wind ) connected to the Zoom in your pocket, something else to experiment with 😂 All the best buddy 👍

Nice run Ian and the roads there seemed pretty quiet which is always nice apart from the odd idiot which you find everywhere .That long straight must have been a roman road and was probably in better condition when the romans used it 😉👌👍

Only notice a small break in the audio when your speed and the wind seemed to trigger the camera to compensate for it. 🤔😎

  • @ianhughesroyalenfield

    @ianhughesroyalenfield

Yes, I noticed it at about 60mph. As daft as it is, I think the “me facing” camera causes a bit of distortion at higher speeds. I hadn’t noticed it when it was in its previous position.

Definitely Simon. We lived on narrowboats for 8 years, always marina based, but always on the look out for a mooring like this. That said, it is a bit close to the road for us. Cheers

@@ianhughesroyalenfield My wife's parents had several narrowboats over many years. They'd go away all summer when they first retired. The one I went on was a bit small for me tho. Too narrow.

@simonchilli2088 too narrow 😂…..you get used to it. We had 3 over the 8 years we lived aboard. A lovely little 42ft, which my wife had before we got married….it was just a bit too small for both of us to live on. We then bought a 62ft traditional tug style, with vintage Rushton Hornsby twin cyl engine, a real old school feel. After we sold this we were going to go off in a motorhome, but my daughter fell pregnant, so we thought we ought to stick around a bit, so bought a doer upper 50ft. Sold that for quite a hefty profit, then went off in the motorhome, to start another chapter (ended up working for the National Trust in Snowdonia for two years) ! Happy Days.

You talk about the weather but didn't you see the latest report from the met office which tells us we've had the warmest spring since records begun in the 1880s. These nett zero/climate change people must think were all stupid. I've travelled those roads for years and it's years since they've seen any tarmac, an absolute disgrace.

Yes Ian, I did read about that BS. They forget that some of us haven’t totally lost our memories yet…….Grrrr 🤬. Re the roads, I think whichever political party actually made a promise to fix the roads, would win hands down, but non will commit to it. I put a link in the description, to that video I was talking about, the poor chap on his Triumph. Cheers
