I was born in Singapore due to my late fathers service at RAF Tengah and Selatar, I think, that was 1969. We moved around a lot but I do remember dad's last tour at RAF Waddington on the Vulcan, I'll never forget the soundtrack that accompanied these beauties. I served in the RAF for 12 years from 87 as a Ptr & Fnr, sadly all gone now including my trade. Good times, good people, (mostly)

Great video. Great RAF then and now. I had the privilege to serve 1956 - 1968, which included Treble One Squadron '56 - '59 (Black Arrows era), and tours in Singapore and Aden after that. Great days, great workmates.

I was a 16 year old kid at Akrotiri in 67. It just felt like one long holiday. Great times.

I spend some time there in the early 90s, I remember being amazed at first that the lads were starting work at about 5am, and knocking off by mid day. Didn't take long before I realised why...OMG, it gets a bit warm there in Summer LOL.

Amazing that a plane that looks as fast as the Gloster Javelin (When seen from the side) could be so slow! Looks like it should be easily supersonic......Except when seen in plan view.....Wow! Those wings are HUGE!

"And er, what is it all about Corporal?" Such a great film, reflections of a bygone era.

A great time to serve, but the pay was abysmal. Didn’t change until 68 &73

Fascinating but goodness did people REALLY speak like that? I mean I know they did cos I vaguely recall friends of my Grandad's sounding like that but still. Odd men.

Ah from the slick hair styles I would say late 1950s in sunny Cyprus.

The Vickers Valiant tanker at the beginning made their last flight in December 1964 before the fleet was retired in January 1964.

The Gloster Javelin was around 1956 until 1968, The Lightning came into front line service in 1960. Going from what Jonnnieunix says below about the Valiant retiring in January 64, that means it's got to be 1960- to January 1964.
