Jerry Jones was wrong for get rid of a legend and I wonder to this day Tom Landry family not speaking to Jerry Jones and put their feet in the stadium and at the end of Tom Landry life he say he was a New York Giants.

Proof that all of the money in the world can’t buy class and dignity. Jones and Johnson are still egotistical buffoons. Landry was the epitome of class and Christian dignity and I’m sure that he’s reaping the rewards of a life well lived.

Those people are idiots. The guy coached for 29 years with one team winning 2 superbowls. His first 6 years he went 25-53. That right there would have gotten anyone fired. His last three years he went 17-30. It was time to go, I mean 29 years is way to long. It looks like you're still upset eh robbie?

Jimmy Johnson is the one responsible for those 3 Super Bowls, not Jerry. Jerry fired the two greatest coaches in Cowboys history, Think about that. Sure Landry was past his prime and it was time to retire. But, still, Jerry Jones fired the 2 greatest coaches in Cowboys history. And that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to his horrible decision making. Yet here you are defending the buffoon.

This is a gem of an interview with coach. We have lost the Landrys in todays sports.

Landry, was an excellent coach and Jerry did him dirty . He was a cowboy thru and thru. My heroes have always been cowboys . Jeeze he got them to 5 bowl games won 2 .so he forgot more plays than Jerry ever knew. But God is good and his legacy lives on

The man was the pure embodiment of class, masculinity and professionalism. RIP

Belicheck has been coaching for almost 50 years. But what I find more impressive about Landry is that he coached from the times players had day jobs into the modern era. In fact, Landry revolutionized the modern game more than any coach, having created defensive formations and concepts still used today.

Belichick has been coaching for 32 years as a head coach (38 years total). Not talking being an assistant to defensive backs coach etc. I'm talking head coach and landry should have been fired years before his abysmal 3 win season his final year. Imagine not winning anything for 11 years in the NFL and still keeping your job. If anything, it was easier back then, football wasn't All year round like it is now. If you're going to made an ass out of yourself at least have the actual facts of Belichick as a head coach. Typical b00mer being old, outdated and ignorant.

When ESPN was a must watch and a good thing to see , how the mighty have fallen 😮now they r trash , sad to see the quality of the people working then and the garbage they have now passing themselves as sports journalists or experts 😮😢

Yes ! We'll said! After the firing of all the staff by Disney, things are not decided by who's the best at the job anymore.

One thing that caught my attention here. Back in 1990 Coach Landry said that Tex didn't know, but I've read elsewhere that Tex was neck deep in the negotiations with Jerry Jones. There's been a lot said about Tex colluding with Bum Bright to force Coach Landry out as well even before the idea of selling the team came up. It makes me wonder if Coach was kept that much in the dark that even after the dust settled he didn't know or if there is no substance to the stories I've read about Tex. As awful as Jerry has been Bum Bright certainly sounded like a bum in the literally since of the word as well.

I am sure those in the Dallas area knew and heard much more than the rest of the nation. I have always understood both Tex and Tom were left in the dark. It was well-known that Owner Bum Bright did not "prefer" Tom as the coach. He looked at the team strictly as an investment, not as a lover of football. I had also read that at the January 1989 Super Bowl that Jimmy Johnson was a guest of the Dallas Cowboys Box (with Tex and Gil etc.) for that game, which was in Miami. I understood that Tex was actually looking to Jimmy Johnson as a possible future coach as Tom was to coach for at least one more year, at least based on his contract and agreement with Tex. As we all know, things accelerated pretty quickly within the following 5 weeks.

My dad flew B-17s during WWII, so I wonder if he and Coach Landry ever met ( or his brother, since he was in B-17s, too ). When he had PCS orders to Guam, he drove the whole family to Dallas and took me to a Cowboys game. This was 1965 and I saw them at the Cotton Bowl. Been a fan ever since. #DC4L

When Landry and Tex left, the Cowboys were never the same, and yes, I know we won those 90`s Super Bowls but we lost our shine and class when they left, and we haven`t had it since then.

Correct the Cowboys were classless on the sidelines. Johnson & Switzer ran hooligan programs in college. And the Cowboys of the 90s were noted as much for their behavior off the field, as their play on the field. Id trade those 3 Super Bowls in a heartbeat, for Coach Landry to be given those 3 years he wanted to rebuild the Cowboys. And with Aikman, Irvin, Newton, Tuinei, Gogan, K Martin and Norton already on the roster. He would have surely done that.

When I was lucky enough to meet Coach Landry I was told him I could never be a fan any longer.

[gasps] Tom Landry's hat, and it's autographed. "To Berman's Dry Cleaning.

I was always a fan of Tom Landry as a 1st class football coach. When I heard he was a B-17 pilot during WW2, well, it would be difficult to say how much respect I had for the man. He's the kind of man we would all strive to be but hardly ever attain.

There is a video here on this channel about the Coach and his WWII service. The Greatest Generation was just that and always will be. For you new generation of fans, if you don 't know what that means, you better find out.

Bum Bright should of kept them informed. He was the owner and the one selling. Cowboys were losing over a million a month. He had to sell. Tex Schramm & Landry we're cold blooded when it came to getting rid of players over 30 years.

Careful who you worship Landry fans. Read some books on Tom. Wasn't all he was cracked up to be. Nobody is.
