His test consisted of demonstrating varies techniques from different attacks, for example: chokes, bear hugs, and strike attacks. After demonstrating his self defense techniques to Roy the second and final stage was to fight 14 rounds. Krav Maga is probably the most direct and lethal martial art there is.

people that are complaining about low sparring and fake attacks.. he was testing and had to demonstrate.. hes not trying to hurt his partner or anything. the last thing you want to do is hospitalize your teammate lol... if you guys actually take any martial art class, mma or krav maga class, you guys would understand how lethal these moves are

Yeah, you are right. I practise Krav Maga, and yes, these moves are lethal, but that's it's the concept of KM

I prefer the simplicity of IKMF myself, but as far as Krav Maga schools go (and there are LOTS, many REALLY bad) this is not bad, reminds me of Richard Douieb's approach...nothing wrong with the sparring, it's more about mental determination than techniques anyways...kudos to the young man...

I can definitely agree with that, but on the one hand you have to realize that this is a test for civilians, not police/military forces.

What is the form of Krav Maga here? Defence against choke from behind was different than IKMF guidelines?

when the heke am I going to get to use these picture perfect traps, grabs and throws in sparring sessions where you can mainly attack body? I trained this for almost two years and that was my biggest question that was never answered. Why am I practicing more and more complex hits, throws, and grabs but never use them in sparring as the levels go up. It's like half grab time, and half limited mma style kickboxing. Great cardio though! but this is all "deadly" and "lethal" if the opportunity is picture perfect. And if I can't get the groin for the perfectly place kick that's suppose to end the fight there is no contingency plan. No groin no krav maga (Simpsons reference) hahahah

I agree that it's good for training, but not for test from one level to another. In the test it must be MUCH more realistic, because it's KRAV MAGA, not a fooish aikido or not a kiokushin, where no punches in head. A deadly art needs to have a realistic test. I don't mean a real weapon, but at least there are have to be real, fast attacks. Am I not right?

In response to Pozitiv: "slow sparring and fake". If this was a typical test, it was several hours long. The sparring session was likely one of the last or the last part of the test. Moreover, you don't fight one person, you fight multiple opponents in succession. Everyone is completely gassed by this time. The control and technique are the main considerations. Think this is easy and fake? You may wish to try it and then let us know if you found it easy. I suspect you wouldn't. I've done six hour training sessions and two hour combat sessions. And yes, the combat sessions were near full contact. Not easy.

Im P5 and the problem with this its the same with ninjitsu, you cant do real sparring. So its a matter of luck what is going to happens if you some day you have to do it for real. But for defence against weapons KM is the best.

They teach you to kick the groin but why do they spar with a wide stance? They teach you to poke someone's eyes but why dont they atleast punch in the head?

  • @thinkmad

Believe me, they punch and kick the head. The wide stance maintains balance and gives you all available weapons... kicks from both legs, both arms.

not saying they would perform bad in a street fight but some techniques are just to show off and would get your ass kicked if performed in a street fight.

There are 15 levels, 5 practitioner, 5 graduated and 5 expert. In some places you are able to test 1 lvl for each year, that doesnt mean that you can do it in 15. If you fail in the test it will take long.
