In 1976 I found myself in the Sinai Field Mission, which was as staffed mainly by employees and E-Systems plus kids off the streets of Greenville Texas. We were housed in prefab Holiday Inn modules complete with running water and air conditioning that had been flown in on Galaxies. We’d while away our off hours listening to excellent stereo systems available via PX. I proselytized Zappa and challenged those cowboys to play me something better. That is where and when I was introduced to Asleep at the Wheel and Roy Buchanan.

I loved when the camera panned out and you got a full length shot of Roy. No bank of effects pedals and sound enhancing gizmos, not even a whammy bar on his guitar. Just pure feeling flowing through his fingers and into the strings. A true Master who was never appreciated as much as he should have been.

What a guitarist!!! Why don't we talk more about Roy Buchanan? He was an absolute magnificent player ...listened to that bleedin' tone!! Just a genius with an old telecaster and an amp...When Roy Buchanan plays, every note seems to have a meaning, there's no technical brilliance. He exudes such intensity and depth that you feel you're exploring the darkest recesses of his soul. Authentic would be the best word to describe his music. Each track is imbued with the guitarist's personality. He goes beyond the classic blues patterns to develop his own style. THANKS ! it's not that he's not known, it's that he's "wrong" known, like Zappa, people think they know,they heard about it without often having really listened...Keep on going ! PS :You should make a list of your favorites of Rory Gallagher and put it on your channel

Hello Rory, I'm so glad you enjoyed listening to another wonderful song by Roy Buchanan. His work has largely gone under the radar of the majority of the blues rock community. But I love the blues, it's one of my favorite genres of music. Here's another song, if interested. "Roy Buchanan - Wayfaring Pilgram" (by the channel: Roy Buchanan-Topic) --This instrumental track was released in 1974 on the album "In The Beginning" and it showcases Buchanan's exceptional guitar skills and soulful playing. Roy Buchanan was "The" legendary "Tele Player" he was a master at emoting the more vocally expressive way to play the blues. He had an uncanny ability to convey deep emotions while playing from his "Telecaster Guiter" his style of playing was soulful, raw, and evocative. His use of "pinch harmonics" (A technique for creating bell-like tones was groundbreaking. The Telecaster's twangy, expressive tones became synonymous with his signature sound and style of playing. He is known for being a pioneer of the Telecaster Guitar. I really enjoyed this one, and as always, I enjoyed rocking with you. Thanks for sharing.

How many guitarists do reckon wasted their money buying a Telecaster to sound like Roy. And then give up when they realized the notes Roy plays are not on their guitar

He's clearly a guitar genius, but I'll always prefer Gary Moore's version of this. Maybe, that's because Gary's is the one I heard first, and countless times since; but I can't imagine that being the case.
