Roy | Award Winning | Sci-Fi Short Film
Roy is a sci-fi drama short film about a robot mechanic holed away in a rundown barn, living in a world of rustic antiques melded with futuristic sensibilities. He is a man forgotten by society and spends his days tinkering at projects. That is until someone opens the door into his shop.
Roy is a story about compassion in the face of those affected by violence and despair. It explores the themes of how we relate to strangers and friends around us who have become bitter and jaded by the world.
Roy poses this question: how do we face those transformed by violence and angry at the world?

Loved the story, but it would have been better with a "CC" option...I even had my ear buds in and couldn't make out some of what was said :(

This film parallels the emotion I feel when my smartphone reaches 2% battery life and dies shortly thereafter.

@@Hiraghm I respectfully disagree. Self-sacrifice happens somewhere every day. It happens when you give your life for another or give up something you need to benefit the life of another. Value plays a part; but it is not the whole.
Beautiful story, and acting. It's the whole package. Can't wait to see more from your team.

God rest Leopold's soul, and bless you all who carry his memory. This deserves more views, likes, and subscriptions. Great work, I loved her being barefoot in the snow despite the heavy overcoat, reaaaaaaaally sold immediately that something was extremely wrong with this poor girl. An exciting episode.Almost without words, the two actors created memorable characters and did it very well. With such actors, the continuation of the event could be promising. Unforgivable if this the end of the story!

In the description it says Roy is a “robot mechanic” but does this mean he is a mechanic who repairs robots or that he is a robot that is also a mechanic? Fun to ponder.🤔😊

Ha, a Schindler! That name has a solid reputation to it. And a pretty famous movie. Well done.
I’m glad to see comments regarding the ability to understand the script since there is no transcript or CC. I guess it was good but I’m not willing to blast the volume above reasonable to try to understand it. There are just too many choices out there that observe common sense to bother with this. That’s my only criticism, which is really minor considering how easily it could be remedied, even retroactively. She did have remarkable, captivating eyes.

Speechless ✨ 😍.
a beautiful story, thank you for sharing. This is why I gave up Hollywood's endless stream of dull reboots years ago. Original stories by gifted storytellers is far more enjoyable and engaging.
*I'm going to transcribe this for people who can't make out what's being said ^^.* "Are you Roy?" "I am." "I'm falling apart and I need you to fix me." "How did this happen?" "What does it matter?" "I need to know what I'm repairing, okay?" "I'm Adella 4.8." "Take off the overcoat. Someone's shutting you down." "Not already... [crashing] can you temporarily fix my legs, or just give me a reboot on my core? Do something, will you?! [quiet whirring and beeping] I have minutes to live, and only my communications and memory are still active. Only my thoughts. [cranking sounds] Why even bother with me now? I have no reason to be fixed. [quiet whirs] I'm sorry. You have done nothing wrong, and yet I tried to kill you. My last action in life was to try to take someone's life. [quiet sobbing] Why are you helping me? I have nothing to give." [music] "You have a memory. You have emotion. You have a free mind." "But I'm dying. Forgive me." [music quiets, wind howls, then music swells back in] That's the end of the dialogue. ^^
That was exceptional work by everyone.
Excellent. Thank you

Bravo and encore. Thanks a lot for a riveting and emotionally intense short film. A thought just struck me: That the director used machine intelligence to demonstrate to us humans core essentials of what it means to be a person. Kinda like a 3d representation of a 4d object on a 2d surface. Anyhoo lets not ramble any further.

@@grandpacapricorn928 No her hair and makeup are not *done* She is a robot. The makeup is paint. The hair is some kind of wire net made to look like hair but is really never mussed. The nails are retractable tools/weapons. It's a _robot_ . It's designed. It has a sweet-appearing personality to throw you off the scent, until it's too late. Even the skin can be used against you. 1) It can wrap you up and suffocate you. 2) It can spit acid at you. 3) Touch it and it can electrocute you. 4) Secret Mode. This 7:44 minutes seemed like 30 seconds! I don't even know how to comment on this. It somehow seems bigger than it is, yet, like I said, passes in an instant. How can this video press so many buttons yet barely press the first one? Put it on a loop and watch it for a day...did I miss something? Or do I have to unfold it, one layer at a time?
Loved this

Without the explanation in the comments, I would have had no real idea what this was about. I didn't realize that Roy was even a robot from the film. I loved the setting and the cinematography, but the actual story was too threadbare.
