Netflix is killing the game when it comes to original movies. 'Roxanne, Roxanne' truly highlighted various underlining messages that need to be discussed from teenagers taking on adult responsibilities to older men preying on young girls. Phenomenal film and kudos to Netflix and Roxanne for this amazing film!

I met Roxanne Shante and MC Shan at a concert at the Hyatt in Oakland Ca 1984, I was 9 years old. She was so dope, she made THE REAL ROXANNE from UTFO cry on stage it was crazy. She has an Iconic voice and dope rap style, she paved the way for female rappers. She still looks good, I am happy she is finally getting recognized with a movie that will last till the test of time.

It's weird to me that white people shouldn't listen to black music. I grew up listening to what we now refer to as old school hip hop and rare groove and probably know more about it than the people making these comments. To me it is part of my culture, like it or not. Although there are racists in England, even they are not dumb enough to suggest that we shouldn't listen to each others music.

This movie came out of nowhere and did the most for me. I was not talking to my son for almost a month before this day. I had lunch with a friend and he told me that life was too short to be petty with my family. All I wanted was a date with my son and through a meeting with my friend who encouraged me to rectify my relationships that were broken to keep them sustained, I was able to practice forgiveness, patience and love. My birthday is next week and all I care about is spending time with my son.

Yo, please don't get me wrong. I love the movie but I'm one of the ones who thinks the movie should've been longer. The touring, The Krs-One beef, more Cold Chillin, and I feel like more of that added would have made this movie even more dope. Been a fan when I first heard her music (and other albums) going through my brother's records and tapes in like 89-1990 when I was 7 years old. After those moments I been a fan of Hip Hop ever since lol. This interview is dope.
