Big job for 1man! Admire your tenacity. Bought a classic aged 51 to discover the pleasure of doing even minor mechanics had gone! Non starting and other offensive gestures had become an annoyance! The body protested and varifocals made vision tricky too! Loved it in my 20s/30s, couldnt do enough!

Not the first time or the last I expect. Will get someone to help when it goes in to the nice fresh engine bay. 👍all the time I'm enjoying it and can do it I will. 😁

Thank you stu, you made my life seem a lot easier as im doing the same job on my p6 v8. Engine rebuild didnt take the box out but working alone at 67 on classic cars is not as easy as i remember. There have been times i thought what the hell am i doing then i realised its becaus i cant afford to pay to have it done !!!!!!!

I must admit that even at 48 it's not as easy as 20 years ago but all the time you can than you do. Plus I still enjoy doing it. 👍👍

Always a relief when they pop out, especially when you're doing it solo!

It was a relief and not as bad as I thought to remove. Having a decent crane helps though. 👍

I admire your tenacity ! I'm now of the age where I couldn't do any of this. I just want to get in and drive these days ! What amazes me though is that the BHP of a V8 3500 is only around 150. I drive a V6 Honda Legend 3500 which puts out 290 BHP ! That's almost double with two less cylinders. I'm guessing it's because of technology nowadays compared to the 1970's ? I had a V8 and that felt fast back in the day, but the Legend feels a lot faster.

Technology has definitely moved on. Some for the better some not so much. Legend is probably a lot more fuel efficient I would of thought too. 👍👍

@@stusoldcars4248 Well I can squeeze 30 on a motorway, but in town it drops to around 21. They are however extremely rare. I think the most I got out of my V8 was around 25 from memory.

just done one on my own , stripped the heads off it and dragged it out by hand through the radiator hole, put it back the same way and started it up the other day. Crank and bores were good got all the bits from rimmer bros ,cheap rebuild really

Great stuff. Hopefully mine should just be a clean up as was running fine with good oil pressure. 👍
