Routemaster 60 Finsbury Park 12th July 2014 HD

Celebrating the unveiling (at the Commercial Motor Show in September 1954) of RM1, the first Routemaster prototype, although it was to be another 17 months before it entered service. Although it was not a great success in terms of sales (fewer than 3,000 were built, and mostly for one customer), the Routemaster, over its incredible 40 year service life, went on to become one of the most iconic symbols of London, on a par with Big Ben and Tower Bridge! Now a highly desirable collector's item, many of those proud owners brought their cherished vehicles to Finsbury Park on the weekend of 12/13 July to join the celebration, which was organised by the Routemaster Association. Let us pay tribute to all the elbow grease and tins of polish, and to everyone who paid for the diesel fuel, that contributed to making this such a successful event.
