Roulette TV: Anthony Braxton

Музыка

Roulette TV is a cable access television program produced by the experimental music institution Roulette in New York City. Roulette TV captures the creative process of live performance, giving viewers a unique window into Roulette’s distinctive programming through in-depth artist-driven features including studio visits, performance footage, and interviews.
Anthony Braxton’s music is featured at the Tri-Centric Festival, including a world premiere concert reading of his opera, Trillium J.
The video includes the performance by Braxton’s Diamond Curtain Wall Trio with interactive electronics, his ensemble pieces with three simultaneous conductors and language music improvisations and his opera, Trillium J, both performed by the Tri-Centric Orchestra, and a 12-member vocal choir performing Braxton’s syntactical Ghost Trance Music.
Anthony Braxton has boldly redefined the boundaries of American music for more than 40 years. Drawing on lifelong influences such as jazz saxophonists, Warne Marsh and Albert Ayler, innovative American composers, John Cage and Charles Ives, and pioneering European Avant-Garde figures, Karlheinz Stockhausen and Iannis Xenakis, he created a unique musical system, with its own classifications and graphics-based language, which embraces a variety of traditions and genres while defying categorization of its own.
