I really like these videos. I am very new to writing poetry and so hearing your thoughts on poetry and reading the poems for myself is helpful. I feel like engaging in creative pursuits by intentionally being creative and taking in the creativity of others is nourishing for the soul.

I just wanted to quickly mention - in Sulfurlight's section, the poem 'Crescent' is about New Orleans (called 'Crescent City'; their hometown based on the intro) - so the first date refers to hurricane Katrina. Lots of the imagery involved is to do with New Orleans - levees, beads, the river, even the red-cup drinking. The whiskey too is part of a cocktail that's like a classic NOLA trope, I think. Sorry if you did know this, I just the got the impression you might not in your commentary. For me, knowing the context really made a lot of sense of the poem. I actually like the two parts (though agree about the tone of the second part). I think what's being implied - by the two sections and the dates as the pivot point - is the way that personal history intertwines with wider histories of place etc. The city (and its trials and tribulations) made the subject who they are, schooled them. Just something that jumped out. Really enjoying the video and analysis!
