Rough Country Rav4 Lift Kit Install

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Sup folks. I went with the RC lift kit due to the extra components you get (in comparison to other kits on the market) to keep everything as close to spec as possible.
I have a 2020 Rav4 Hybrid XLE.

Huge shoutout to @blk.yota.rav on Instagram. He helped answer a lot of questions for me about his experience with the RC lift.
/ blk.yota.rav
I know some folks have had issues with their RC kits but after 3 months, I have only had minimal vibrations around 17-20 mph. BUT after installing new tires recently, that vibration seems to be gone.
I also installed Godspeed rear adjustable toe arms to get my rear camber back in spec.
Coupled that with EZ cam bolts, and my front camber is also back in spec.
The only spec that can't be adjusted is the caster (at least with my setup) but it's not too much of a concern.
Besides caster, everything else (Alignment wise) is back in spec, which includes Toe and Camber for front and back.
I still wish there was a front subframe drop kit for the 5th Gen Ravs, but so far Traxda is only company that make those components. Sadly, they still refuse to sell those components separately and still require their whole lift kit to be purchased. These components would ultimately help get the front CV joints back into spec and ideally stop any axle binding or 'vibrations' while driving. As for now, I should be fine. No extreme vibrations that I am concerned about. I also only installed the RC lift up front and did NOT stack it with Eibach springs (in the front). I did however stack my Eibach springs with the RC lift in the rear.
Speaking of the rear, you'll notice I also installed Sumo Springs to help progressively support weight. They hold up really well and allow me to have a more cushioned ride when unloaded and a stiffer ride as I add more weight. That's one pro over a stiffer spring. But, in time, I may finally jump to a stiffer spring. For now, I'll stick with this setup since it's also my daily.
Any questions? Drop one or feel free to troll me ;)

How did you take care of the wiring for the hybrid system when you lower down the rear crossmember LP off-road does not make a lowering kit for the rear suspension because they don't have an extension for the wiring harness for the hybrid system .

I have a 2019 rav4, le, had installed a RC 2 and a half lift by a good off road shop a month ago, everything went well < looks great but because the 73100 kit didn't come with needed shims for the drive shaft support bearing , because the shaft support bearing is in stock placement I developed a shaft vibration at or near the support bearing , How do I know that its there ? well at 20km to 40km I feel the vibration in my seat , the sweet spot where its worse is 30km under torque, at no other time does it reveal itself.. the RC 73100 kit is well made , why wasn't the shaft bearing shims and longer bolts included with everything else ...? so of you install this equipment watch out for torque vibration,

I just bought a used prime and the dealer threw on new street tires. Going to get a spare set of wheels and off road tires that I’ll put on for adventures and then I’ll keep the other ones for the 95% might be a good way to maintain mpg then sacrifice it when needed. Spaseyota is looking cool though.

Only had vibration issues before alignment and new tires. After that the vibration at low speed was gone. My front bumper weight could be playing a part in weighing the front down just enough to further reduce any vibrations that I would otherwise have noticed.

Silly question? I just ordered a Rav 4 LE. I want to install a RC lift kit as well. Most everyone that I see "lifted" has a "Rake", meaning it not level and sits a little higher in the rear, compared. Is that something people prefer? Personally.. I want mine perfectly level.. Do you think I will need a levelling kit as well as the lift kit?

I recently lifted my 2022 Rav4 xle with RC kit and stacked with eibach springs in front and rear, I am experiencing similar vibrations/shimmy when accelerating in the 15-25mph range...what brand tire did you first purchase and what tires did you switch to that you believe removed vibrations? Do you believe that any of the added alignment components you installed also could have aided in removing vibrations? Your feedback would be appreciated.

I am experiencing the same thing I have a 2020 Toyota RAV4 adventure package I will drive and I added the roof country 2.5 inch lift and now at about 18 mph to about 28 mph from acceleration from moderate to harsh, I am experiencing a shimmy , i’ve done research and I’ve looked under the truck. The CV axles look actually not too bad at rest or under load now I’m wondering if maybe the driveshaft needs 1 inch spacers or 1 1/2 inch spacers on the center support bearing for the driveshaft can come down. Maybe possibly that could be the problem I’m not sure only research could find out.

  • @spaseyota

    @spaseyota

    10 ай бұрын

I have a hybrid so the suspension is dialed a little differently than your adventure. You probably have a higher lift up front than me and now you are experiencing axle bind. Try not to accelerate so fast and that will minimize the issue. I had the vibrations more intensely at first but they have dissipated now. I also take off from dead stops super slow. I’d recommend getting front subframe spacers for the front. Only company I know that makes them is Traxda.

@@spaseyota thank you I’ll look into it, I was doing research, I’m thinking about doing spacers for the front subframe and I also seen some 1” spacers for the center support bearing. But I feel like the transmissions is the problem here, if I manual select the gears on “S” and on a dead stop if I am in 8th gear ans start to go I don’t get that shimmy, could it be the transmission? Or maybe it is the axle binding up. Hmm. I wonder if they make better aftermarket axles for those

Cv axles are binding. Try accelerating slower. If you have an adventure trim, this issue is more profound. If you’ve stacked lift kits up front then you need to reduce to a single kit. Also consider getting subframe spacers, and motor mount spacers for the front. Which may require you purchase the Traxda lift kit which includes these parts.
