So funny! I was trying to find out if it was just my collie that made wookie noises when playing. I guess she’s not alone, it must be a collie thing!

Probably, my puppy does it too lol

So funny. I thought my sheltie girls were talkers until we got a smooth collie. There are noises that come out of that collie that sound like something from another planet.

Love the vocals on your collies. Mine use to be the chatterbox of the house. Sadly he has passed away and I miss him dearly.

Thanks for your kind words. I came upon the breed as a kid watching Lassie and always wanted a collie. He was such a sweet character and such a charmer. He knew when I wasn't feeling well and he would walk to me very quietly and sit by my side as to comfort me. I lost him during Covid in 2020 and it is still difficult. I look at KZread when I am feeling down to look at collie puppies and think of him. I agree if I do own another dog in my life it will be a collie. Thanks for your encouragement and kindness.

He is a complete character. A talker and makes us laugh out loud every day. The cats adore him. He is a blessing. Been great for my husband’s moral. You m gone for three nights a week for work and he was just diagnosed with Parkinson’s. So this boy Finn is good medicine for us all.

@@lizdg3892 My dog was a chatty Cathy as well. I really miss my dog, and my Smooth Collie was really was empathetic towards me and my huband. My husband and I miss him terribly. He really helped us get out in the sunshine for a walk and meet others with collies. We loved to sit in the park and people watch. It's been three years this May that we lost him. Its still hard without him. Count you lucky paws you still have somone to chat and a buddy to help you throughout the day.

Just like a collie. Gotta love them when they are having so much fun!!!!

I had two who loved to talk away when they were playing. One is still with me but at 14, she's pretty quiet and her new companion respects her senior status very well.

It reminds me of mine when he was young. Collies are the best dogs.

All of the collies I've had have totally done that - it's hilarious. They love to rough-house play.

Collies and Shelties are magnificent dogs. Sadly they grow old way to fast. Cherish every moment with them. Someday you will have wonderful bittersweet memories only.

The shop I bought my collie from called her "the singer." Her brother was also there but seemed relatively quiet. She routinely found new excuses to bark. I labeled her a barkaholic.

Hahaha. This is very normal for collie play - all the noise, open mouths, air snaps, etc. I have had 4 so far, not related, and they all have played like this.

Your life has to be spent with a brush in your hand.
