They're much more than black metal. I wouldn't even call it that. Most of their lyrics are religious and spiritual, but without any "black" undercurrent. Actually they're mystical-religious world-music/folk metal... ;-)

Rotting Christ plays METAL; just like Motorhead plays Rock & Roll

There's something special about this band. Not many people have it. Rotting christ exudes it through every pore. Also, I hope they keep this line up for a long time to come. These guys are tight as fuck.

RC are the band that would give it their all even for 2,3 drunk 80 year olds sitting drinking beer in a salloon in the dessert. And this is one important reason they are gods.

The best band and the pride of Greece!

Have beend to many Metal festival...but one thing is sure, Rotting Christ is the one band that is rocking every tour and every concert...a must see!

Can't believe I've missed RC for all my metal years. No more of missing true metal!

I think Theogonia is RC's best album. I must have listened to it a million times since 2007. They added a choir to this version Threnody here and it was a great touch. Thanks for everything RC. I offer my endless thanks to Greece for its philosophers and RC. Greetings from Turkey.

Their performance in İstanbul on last December was the last concert I went since covid. Their performance, energy and relation with the audience was really cool. Love these guys.

Love these guys. I wouldn’t even call them black metal any more, which isn’t a bad thing. It’s just black metal fusion. They always do their own thing, and stay ahead of the genre.

IKR? I read somewhere, that they where the first black metal band, that back in the 90's dared to use synth keys. Something that was imitated by other big bands of the genre, later. In order to be a pioneer in your craft, you have to dare to be different!

@@alphajames33 They weren't the first, but they were definitely among the first. Celtic Frost and Bathory (from the first wave of black metal) were already adding atmospheric keys and samples to their music. As for second wave bands, which I consider Rotting Christ a part of, Samael also had keys on their first album (mainly just interludes and instrumentals) Worship Him, was was back in '91. A lot of the Scandinavian bands wouldn't touch keys however and Rotting Christ definitely preceded most if not all the Norwegian bands in using keys.
