Rotation Guide for Rocket League

Ойындар

Rotation is one of the hardest skills to understand in Rocket League. This is a Rotation Guide. This video covers how to rotate in any game mode. Rotation can be a skill that takes you to higher ranks without much practice or change. However mastering rotation can take thousands of hours of play time to fully understand how you need to rotate and how rotation works most efficiently

Rotation poem:
If you don't know where to be
and you don't know where to go
make sure that you rotate
all the way to back post
Rotation can be tricky
Rotation can be hard
if you do not pay attention
you will bump into other cars
Running out of boost?
Are you too far away
Rotate over pads
so you can stay close to the play
ROTATION!

    Ughhh this whole vid went over your head didn’t it... the coverage zones are just like a visual for the vid to help better understand the concepts presented. You should know you and your teams general Coverage area. An easier way to think about it is split the field into a 3x2 grid and you don’t wanna be covering same zone as teammate, however the zone each person is covering is constantly changing

    People don’t understand how important this stuff is. Out of everything in the game outside of just general consistency, THIS positioning skill will be the number one thing determining your rank. Every jump I’ve made, from plat to diamond to high diamond to low champ etc has always been because I got better at being in the right place at the right time. That’s all it is. What’s so funny is the lower the rank the more to me people spend on shiny mechanics that do little to nothing to help gameplay besides look cool. You just don’t see air dribbles in 3s. But hell if you go to gold everyone is doing all kinds of crazy stuff. But then you just sit there and wait for them to finish their easy to read shenanigans and now you have a fast break and possession bc that guy has no boost (at higher levels that’s like a 75% chance of a goal and why no one does that bs except in cas). SAVE THIS VIDEO the man speaks truth. I always recommend Sunless’ WISaRL 2s and 3s rotation videos for the basics But this is a good 2nd watch for the basics. Plus there are some more advanced concepts in here too. Me like

  • @bwzxh6010

    @bwzxh6010

    Matt S frrr, things like air dribbles and fancy shit can be helpful but they’re just fuckaround, in the higher ranks you need to be quicker, and in the right position but everyone is thinking that if they want to get higher they have to air dribble when they don’t.. what the lower ranks don’t realise is that pros and champion players will practice air dribbles, double touches etc primarily for the car control not the skill itself, but nope mr goldilocks thinks that if he can score from the ceiling he’s a grand champ 😂

    Even with thiw i still believe that base mechanics ( realise i said base mechanics) are a little more important. Rotations cool and all but if you struggle to 50/50 and struggle to score and defend then it only goes so far whilst base mechanics can flat out carry you as you are much more reliable and a good player to say pass to. But we should not sttive to only have 1 side either

  • @bwzxh6010

    @bwzxh6010

    Dark Wolf they are equally important, knowing how to 50/50 and consistently shoot are good however a 50/50 is useless if you aren’t coming in from the right angle or spot etc

    If you do t see airdribbles in 3s then you not in a high rank. In 1700-1800 mmr I airdribble over people. It’s how good you are at doing it not so much just doing it for looks

  • @matts5247

    @matts5247

    4 жыл бұрын

    Dark Wolf that’s why I said outside of basic consistency. I mean if you can’t but the ball in an open net obviously you shouldn’t even worry about rotating. As for setting up plays to score and to clear, those basic mechanics revolve around rotation (and not just rotation, but general positioning as I mentioned) because it will be a hell of a lot easier to clear if you’re anticipating the play and set up so that if ball ends up getting to you you can easily turn it around without a threat to your back field. And on offense, same thing if you’re in the right place at the right time then your boy can you up an infield pass to shoot or throw off backboard for your other boy who if he’s IN POSITION can take advantage of. If you’re not there and you’re not there first it doesnt matter how good you are at anything else. And I’ll go as far as saying that speed is less important too. We’ve all been beaten by a team that within 10 seconds how you got matched with them going around the field like sloths but then you lose because there is just always some dude already there before you can even think about beating someone to the ball. In dropshot this is especially true which is great practice for being able to pass constantly at weird angles (small octagon shaped map) and keep redirecting until you have an opening without giving up possession. And repeat this over and over until you score. I’ve played guys where once they have possession no way anyone else is touching that ball.

  • @BallisticAero
    @BallisticAero4 жыл бұрын

    The visuals you give on spacing are groundbreaking for me and my team mate. Sometimes in duos we play almost flawlessly (given our max skill level) and then most games we struggle and couldn't figure out why. But comparing the scenarios given with our replays we noticed we weren't giving each other the right amount of spacing to maximize our coverage. Almost immediately we were getting scored on less and maintaining pressure for longer periods of time. I actually found it easier to keep pressure by spacing farther (within reason) versus trying to play at higher speeds which caused us to rotate around each other far too tightly. In sports I've always believed that the chemistry of a team can be good enough to beat the skill of a strong team, for example I grew up with the San Antonio Spurs from '02 to '16 and I think you can apply the concept of their spacing, ball movement, and most importantly off the ball movement to any sports game even RL. Cheers man thanks! And good luck on improving to all who are here

    Ealier today on September 30th 2020 I was playing with some friends in a tournament. I was doing ok in fact better than I expected but after reaching quarter finals both friends got VERY upset that I didn't know how to rotate in the most efficient way possible. One even said "I WONT play with you no more if you can't rotate." I was extremely scared by then of losing a good friend. I looked up how to rotate and this (I hope) will really help me. I know some of the problems with my rotations and this covered the rest. Just this being the first video on your channel I watched I'm already subscribing, liking, and being not big brain, but MASSIVE BRAIN. 3:16 At what rank does this potential passing play (meaning Virge pushing mid to get open for pass) become reliable? I'm C3 and 9/10 times I'd just withdraw and let him solo it and prepare to defend, because it's likely only gonna end up with a possession loss. And I can't count how many times have I intercepted such a pass attempt and scored. It's easy to read and if you fail you still have someone behind you, unlike them.

    This is where video's like this become a little iffy. Don't get me wrong, the video was superb and explained rotation probably as well as you possibly can, but I also can't help but feel that some of it is only really valid to the top 1% of players, who most likely already know this stuff. The comment towards the end where Virge said "team mates will catch on to your rotating and are more likely to join in with you as no one wants to be a ball chaser", oh how I wish that were true. I'm currently firmly in Champ 2 and feel like every game is as much a war of attrition with my team mates than it is the other team. Some days I just end up abandoning ranked matches as I get sick to death of trying to account for team mates with my movement only to have the same people cutting me off literally 10+ times a game, and then they have the audacity to point out my low score when the only reason my score is low is because i'm simply trying to cover their selfish playstyle all the time with me rarely touching the ball. If I feel this way in Champ 2 which I'm fairly sure is around the top 5% of players, then god knows what the other 95% of players are experiencing. Like I said great video, but can't help but feel like some of the comments surrounding team mates were made out of slight ignorance to how unaware or selfish 99% of the playerbase is.

    This was vague enough to actually be true. There is no exact one "right" rotation, there's only different players having to adapt to each other and the situation on the fly, and learning how to cover as many options as possible with the team in mind is important.

    I know this is an old video and you'll probably never see this, but you've done a heck of a job here. For anyone that is wondering, I feel personally that this video applies at almost any rank aside from high GC. I've been watching since I was legitimately a gold and a couple months into the game. I've always been a twos main but this still helped. I'm now C2 and still find this helpful.

    Virge, love your videos. I've been using your videos as a reference for new players learning the ins-n-outs of the game. Your explanation of the mechanics and the dive into detail (explaining the "why" you should do something) is very informative. Do you happen to have a video of attacking WITHOUT the ball? I understand it might be a complicated subject but if anyone can explain it, it would be you.
