From the moment she slipped off that cover and placed on her coat to her end she absorbed a presidential command, that, not for one second, she ever put down. She assumed authority, took it, and made sure, as much a she could possibly muster, to put the lives of the large groups of people first! I loved her.

@highlander723 she rigged an election. No she doesn't get points for pulling out at the last second. She authorized a genocidal war crime against the cylons. No, she doesn't get points because it failed. She supported forced labor, and child labor. She also illegally took office after new caprica was liberated. Instead of what should have happened, being the next member of succession of Baltar's cabinet taking office. Threatening his vice president with death if he didn't ABDICATE to her. If you think Roslyn wad a good president, I hope you never run for office. Separately, she is a great character. It's okay to love characters who are bad people.

Roslin has seen the deaths of 50 billion and the destruction of the government and now she must lead what remains of humanity to salvation with her intern and a handful of politcla journalists and assistants. That's a little more intense hahaha

Funnily, Babylon 5 took the same inspiration when they swore in President Clark. B5 though was a show on a budget, so it was presented in one camera angle ala a news broadcast. It goes to show how a good cinematographer and good actors can flesh out that image into something that is its own.

They left that in on purpose, she had just witnessed (or realized, i guess) the death of billions of people, including every single person who was higher up than her in the government. By swearing in, she accepted the responsibility for not only the refugee fleet but also accepted that she would be in constant danger for the rest of her life.
