thanks for the comment. user experience is best with HBL - but unfortunately, HBL is constantly impacted by the downtime. I have heard Meezan bank is better for app after that.

Assalam o alaikum wali bhai, NPC open kaise kerna hai, I opened my rda recently. Can I request through hbl mobile app. 2nd ye batain utility bills like say water/ power/gas ye tu monthly pay kertay hain, kiya mai one time apna consumer account no add ker sakta hoon HBL mobile app mai same as we are doing in UAE for our bill payments. Ya phir har bar mujhe apnay bills ke consumer ID fill kerna hogi.

Wasalam, you can easily set up all bills for monthly payment so u don’t have to enter every time. But HBL app sometimes have glitches - that’s need to be seen. For NPC, better apply through the RM - I haven’t used the web interface as it seems unreliable.

These are electronic certificates normally comes on email. In some banks, they are appearing in the electronic statements as well.

Wasalam, I know you can do from exchange company or your own bank account. I don’t think there is an issue even if you do through bank account of your friend. I would suggest, take the following measures: 1- transfer small amount as first transaction 2- do a PKR transaction and not USD. Hopefully it will go through.

I tried my Lesco bill which was already paid yesterday locally. Just to give a try, but in HBL mobile app it was showing unpaid. So question is if i can trust and pay bills online from rda and it will not create any unfortunate situation in coming months. And I have seen there will be small fee of 10 Rs service charge on bill payments.

I do pay all bill with RDA, and so far no complaints. In case of issue, u can contact your RM.

How to buy share / invest in international country like UK, china etc

Wali - quick question, i am from malaysia if i use money transfer apps like wise (transfer wise) or others e-remit etc, they are showing as interbank transfer to my RDA account in PKR. Would those be counted as remittance? or do you just need bank to bank?

anything coming into RDA would be considered as remittance - we normally use exchange houses in the UAE to remit and its perfectly fine.

@@WaliKhan_2k thanks for your response .. quick question again however if someone locally transfers you from HBL to HBL account as mentioned in your videos, it would not be allowed or considered as remittance. anybody can send me money locally into my RDA account and would that be counted as remittance? My issue is that when i see statement, there is a BAF account that transferred money into my BAF RDA while i used Wise (transfer wise APP) and used my ringgit account in Malaysia is linked to it. I need to be clear before a transfer a large account dont want to end marking this as a an issue later

Any bank should work. I have worked with HBL and MCB, both are OK. I have heard good things about Meezan bank as well.

That's for self only. You can have another account of your wife and deposit certain amount to get benefit of second free test.

It depends on your long term requirement and also on how much would you like to invest and the frequency of future investments too.

No direct option is possible. You can see for the money transfer from Pakistan to outside through exchange companies. But all the process might be expensive.

Hello, no, you can withdraw for sure and deposit at your will. The only thing is that you cannot deposit any funds into the RDA from within Pakistan. There is no limit of withdrawal that I know as such too. However, If you open the broker account and want to repatriate it's profit through RDA - I am not sure if that's possible as the broker will transfer to the local bank account and not RDA.

Salaam Sir. A quick question. I have opened RDA with HBL in USD (living in China). Upon returning to Pakistan, will I be able to withdraw the funds into a local bank account? Will I need to file a tax there? (my region is tax-free though), and since my funds will be in USD, which exchange rates will be used?

Once you complete 180 days in Pakistan, you are bound to declare all the assets and income.

What about Australian dollar. If I open for foreign currency than I have to select US $?

RDA for HBL requires to send money from an international bank account only, we can’t use exchange with better rates. There are hefty charges to send money to our own account looking at exchange rates and remittance charges.

Can I repatriate money to any of my overseas account ? or it can only be reptriated to the remitting account defined at the time of creating an RDA account ? As Bank Alfalah website says "the funds can only be repatriated into the customer’s own bank account shared at the time of account opening ".

I dont think there is any requirements to remit back into the same account. Haven't tried myself, but doesn't make sense.

It can happen with individual cases. I can recommend the following: 1 - send the email to highest authority in Meezan keeping in loop the SBP complaint email. 2- Take the screenshot of the same email and post on twitter tagging the bank and SBP. This will surely get someone coming to you.

And can you fund your rda from your own bank account in pakistan...

It takes some time and it comes through email as bank's systems are still not linked with SBP directly - You can check with your RM to expedite. Usually, its available within 24-48 hours.

@@WaliKhan_2k Sir, another thing for everyone's information. RDA to RDA A/C tranfers are not permissible. RDA PKR to USD/GBP is not possible either even to your own A/C.

This should not be an issue. Everyone I talked to around the world simply transfer the money to RDA as they use to for any account in Pakistan. How do you normally transfer to Pakistan?

Very informative video. I have a question, i wan to invest for five years but will i be able to reinvest the amount with profit again or this scheme is only for 5 years. Actually my plan is to move back to pakistan after 10 to 15 years and want to reinvest after the tenure is finished. Secondly, will i get the interest on my profit ? For example if i invest 1 million pkr and after 6 months i get profit of 50k. Then for the next 6 month period my profit will be calculated on 1 million or 1million 50 thousand ? Thanks

Thanks for the comment. Yes, you can reinvest as many times as you want, but the reinvestment will be considered separate investment with separate date (you can invest for 5 years as well). You can keep on investing even if you get back to Pakistan - the only thing would be that you might have to declare it in the tax returns after that.

How my RDA will be treated once I return permanently to Pakistan? Will it still be treated as RDA or converted to a local account. In second scenario, it will be very challenging as I have invested in PSX (and plan to hold for long term 10-15 years) using RDA in addition to INPC

If you return to Pakistan, the RDA will still remain the same way and your INPCs will always be there and you can even reinvest. Only issue would be that then you need to file the taxes and mention that amount too while filing taxes.

Sir, Please let me clarify that supposed i invest RDA Naya Pakistan Certificate 5 million for three years tenure and i apply for the same value any car on instalment at Lien based,,,,,so still shall i get the profit from my Naya Pakistan Certificate for three years?? yes, you will get the profit - but at the same time you will have to pay to bank markup for the car installment.

Wali bhai aik bat batayein mein ne 1mil invest kia 5 years k liay Rs 1,000,000 and then suppose I got profit of 55k after 6months right then If i want to reinvest that amount so would it be added to my current balance of investment that was 1mil ? or I have to buy another certificate for next 5 years? my concern is that if I keep investing the amount then after 5 years my initail investment would be matured that was 1mil and what ever I reinvested afterward would take another 6months or so to get matured. I hope you understand 😅

Every time you reinvest - it’s considered as a new investment and you will get a new certificate. It’s up to you how long you want to invest in - but I suggest to go for max tenure.

I had opened RDA a/c in USD with UBL. When I sent 1st remittance in USD from my bank a/c in Oman as a test, I paid $39 as remitting and intermediary bank charges. I sent $1,000 but only $985 was credited in my RDA a/c. Another $15 deducted from proceeds. Total $54 on remittance of $1,000. Thats huge! I suspect $15 are deducted by UBL. I am confused now whether to send more funds in USD to invest in NPC due to high charges. I eventually planned to send total $5k to invest in $ NPC. Did your RDA bank deducted any charges from proceeds? Pls advice dear.

Thanks for the comment. I have addressed this in my video, but here is the thing: No bank will confirm you about the corresponding bank charges because the transaction is routed from USA. However, there are certain banks combination which even did not incur any charges at all. I know SCB to SCB only incured 20 AED charge to a friend every time he sends money. For USD transactions, I only suggest to transfer anything in excess of 5K USD in one transaction every time - this way, you will have little impact from the transaction fee point of view. If you transfer small amounts, than keep investing in PKR instead as reinvesting will be a problem with USD as well.

i have question for you 1- if i invest in 3 year plan the profit I get every six month , so the tax will apply every six month profit or yearly profit?? 2- if i go back to pakistan then what will happen to this account can i reinvest the profit from pakistan??

You can open a new account in PKR if you want, but i believe existing account cannot be converted to other currency.

Wasalam, This will depend on the property investment - I cannot comment on this. However, with 10K USD, you cannot get any property in Pakistan.

To answer your question on housewife, yes they can. In sources mention husband. Then husband needs to provide salary and job certificates which you’ll need to sent to the bank. It worked for us and we didn’t open joint. It purely for wife. Both PKR & USD. Just make sure you inform your CRM manger.

Thanks for the comment - But that's the problem. I know women who don't want to even inform their families about their bank account OR they don't have any solid person as their male guardianship. The system should allow women whether working on not to open a simple bank account.

The transfer method should be the same with a regular account if you ever transferred any funds to any bank account in Pakistan. For USD, however, there might be some additional fees involved which you might have to check with your bank or exchange company whichever you choose to transfer from.

Dear Wali Khan, I have a question which has been bugging me for months but couldn’t figure it out with available information. Lets suppose I open a RDA, and currently I live in UK. Should I open it in GBP or PKR. Because my understanding it that when you send money to pakistani accounts through your banking channel, the conversion rate is very low and you get low value for your money, like for example if the open market rate is 1GBP = 236 PKR, the bank would convert it at rate of 215 PKR and hence the actual value that you get there in PKR is low as opposed to if you would have changed the same amount in a pakistani currency market. Is it possible that if one opens a GBP account in roshan digital account and you transfer GBP to your pakistani RDA and there in Pakistan you can withdraw that money in GBP and then go to local currency market and change it there for better value. To my knowledge you can do that if you open a Foreign Currency Account with a Pakistani Bank but is it possible to do that with RDA. I am confused so need your expert opinion on this.

I think you are referring to the open market and banking rates - nowadays there is not much difference, you need to double check this - I know for USD and AED, they are not having much difference. For GBP, it should be fine, only thing you might to check is the banking fees which might incur on each transaction - if not, then the next question if you want to repatriate the funds? - If yes, GBP might make sense, but otherwise PKR is better.

@@WaliKhan_2k Thanks for your prompt reply. Banks here in UK do charge for sending money internationally, for example, my bank charges 10 pounds for transactions upto 5000 pounds. I haven tried bank transfers for a long, long time, as I use moneygram which gives better conversion rates and is instant and hassle free and the other person can just pick up the money showing their ID and the transfer code. Now my other query is that if a RDA is opened in GBP, how would the person drawing that money in Pakistan do that. Would that withdrawl be in GBP or PKR. Because bank ATMs dont give you GBPs, they give you PKRso how that conversion at ATM would be done and what other charges would incur at that end. Or if that has to be done through cheque that would any branch honour that cheque. The information given on SBP site is very limited and its not clear.

You need to contact your RM for HBL as its not possible as of now to apply for NPC through app. Even if there is a way, it might not go to the relevant person quickly enough so better apply for it yourself through RM.

Only overseas - but if you are resident Pakistani with overseas declared assets, then you can too.

For USD transactions, I only suggest to transfer anything in excess of 5K USD in one transaction everytime - this way, you will have little impact from the transaction fee point of view.

@@WaliKhan_2k thanks for the prompt response. In such case would it be better if I request HBL to change the account from usd to aed. Then i can directly transfer money without incurring corresponding bank charges. I am basically planning to buy naya pakistan certificates (usd) via this rda account.

@@akashdeepsingghh just checked after you mentioned - yes, they have started it. But I still think the amount is routed from the US as other currencies list GBP are routed accordingly too. You need to confirm if the transfer is direct from UAE to Pakistan in case of AED from your RM of HBL.

If I open Roashan Digital Account and transfer money to this account from abroad. And I purchase some property let's say for 1 Million PKR, and after sometime if I sell the same for more or less amount let's say for 990 K or 1100 K . So how can I get that money back??

Hello, apparently this is possible if you buy the property through RDA. But to get more clarifications from your bank representative as the complete process is not mentioned anywhere yet.

I have another Question... Can I open a joint account (Roshan Digital Account), My wife and I, we both live in Canada same address and want to have a joint account in Pakistan, If so could you please explain the process, Much appreciated 🙂

Yes, very much possible - You have to go through the same process as the regular RDA.

If you have invested in USD, than the payout is also in USD - so you don't have to worry about the fluctuation.

Hello, its very simple - I transferred through my bank in UAE (Mashreq Bank) - Call your RM and tell them you want to transfer in USD, they should be able to provide you with process and lowest possible cost/fees.

You can open the USD and PKR account in same bank.

yes, very much possible.

Great video but its sounds more like publicity for HBL. A comparison of other banks will be helpful like I think Standard Chartered bank is good but have not tried yet. Also you have not mentioned difference between RDA checking and Saving account. Lastly my concern is always how secure my financial information is when it goes into the hands of people who work at the bank ? its not hidden any more that bank employees were involved in leaking the information to kidnappers and robbers . is there a way to make sure information is in secure hands.

I can only do that if the need arises, but a friend of mine already did successfully.

I opened up an AED RDA account with Bank Alfalah. When i transferred from my UAE HSBC account, the money was not received. On inquiring, ive been told by Alfalah that UAE bank dont allow to transfer in AED to pakistan banks. I asked whats the point of allowing me to open an AED account, they said that from anywhere in the world you can transfer into AED account. They said if i open a USD account, i would be able to transfer from HSBC UAE AED account to my RDA USD account. Can you please advise if this is correct information and is there a better way of transferring money from UAE banks to RDA foreign currency account

I negotiate with bank before transferring to USD account. There is a workaround - Open PKR account with Al Falah and send remittance to PKR and then transfer amount from PKR to USD Al Falah - This is tested by a few people and works well.

in one year, 10,500 - 1050 = 9450/- after 1 year for 1 year investment.

I have not done the repatriation myself - but if I will do, I will do for a large sum as I am afraid there will be small fees for transaction too.

Sorry for the confusion created. For 3 years and 5 years, the profit is paid out every 6 months. For the other tenures, the profit is only paid at maturity of certificates.
