I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your advice and this video! I’m putting in an entirely new new front garden with Iceberg and At Last roses in my plan. What you shared about getting the crown 1-2 inches below ground is something I hadn’t heard before and is going to help them out immensely. Thank you!

You mentioned watering your rose bush once a week; however, you share with us the drip emitter ‘volume’ (1GPH, 2GPH, etc) and the run time? I’m still educating myself on this very oddly poor Colorado soil. We had spent a number of years amending and mulching our soil, returning it to fantastic health, at our prior house in California, so I’ve taken on the task once again in Colorado. Could you do a future video where you show us various soil amendments, and which ones are appropriate for specific soils? Also, I believe there is an overuse of landscape fabric, placed on the soil, with loads of gorilla-grass type mulch piled on top. I have found that it prevents the mulch from decomposing and gradually enriching the soil. The rainwater also doesn’t penetrate as easily. I had removed the landscape material from around my plantings this past spring, and the plants are the healthiest I’ve seen them since moving to Colorado 5 years ago.

I mostly use 1 gph emitters. My drip irrigation is run by a smart sprinkler controller. We've had so much rain this summer that I don't think my drip line has actually run. Soil amendment video is a good idea. I agree with your disdain for landscape fabric. Welcome to Colorado. I hope that you find everyone as friendly here as I have. Thanks for watching.

Sadly, my beer belly is real and real beer would just make it worse.
