I just watched all of your videos! This is a great resource for front range gardeners. You shared some great ideas for shrubs. I would love to see information on perennials for the front range - esp those with low water requirements.

Great information. We’ve recently moved to the Front Range from Virginia, where it is lush and humid and ANYTHING will grow without any more than a few waterings when initially planted and then rainfall will take it from there. We moved onto a property with a lot of overgrown and poorly placed shrubs and plants. I’m still in the process of just identifying them so I can “repair “ or replace them where needed. My landscape design is less formal, so I don't know much about boxwoods. Thanks for watching.

I live in southern co and I am looking for a good evergreen 🌲 to create a hedge, something to substitute a Emerald Arborvitae type. What would you recommend other than juniper?

Pinyon pines might work.

I just lost several shrubs to some gnawing voles, including serviceberry and butterfly bushes. First time this has happened in 19 years! Any ideas on how to keep this from happening? Would burying hardware cloth work? I tried dried cayenne pepper and live trapping to no avail.

I had a cat that rid the neighborhood of voles. That doesn't work for everyone. I'll see if I can find some other ideas.

@@FrontRangeGardener -- Thanks for the link! Yeah, I think that, along with the grasshoppers, it was just one of those years where the local population exploded. (And the fact that a couple of nearby fields were recently bulldozed for construction probably didn't help, either.)
