Rory McIlroy Teaches You Two Different Bunker Shots | TaylorMade Golf
Спорт
Team TaylorMade's Rory McIlroy teaches you how to hit two different bunker shots using his Milled Grind 3 wedge from TaylorMade. He hits a high lofty floater to attack those tricky pins as well as a more standard shot that releases towards the pin. He takes you through swing thoughts and technique as well as his mindset when taking on these two types of shots.

These videos are never long enough
Thanks Rory but I’ve already got 2 bunker shots - I call them The Chunk and The Skull

I did the latter in my most recent round 😭
That actually just helped me a lot thanks guys
Thanks Rory!!!!
You could probably putt it out of that particular bunker if you hit it hard enough up the slope
That’s what rakes are for. Raking out the ball and hitting from the grass 😅😂
My top 1
Not even a fan but his technique is the best I’ve ever tried.
It still amazes me how Rory and others like Fleetwood tilt the club so much😂😂 it's almost flat basically using the last two grooves at the top of the club crazy.
He should get some putter tips
The hand wedge is the best option
🔥🔥🔥🔥
They both landed in similar spot?
Do you actually hit the ball? Or does the sand throw the ball out of the bunker?

Hit behind the ball, so hitting the sand to lift the ball out.

once you thin a few, you'll get it
Seems a 60 wedge?
My problem for me is when the face is that open I can’t help but imagine it’s just going to hard shank right. It just looks completely unnatural to me. Then when I swing I attempt to close the face

try to just think of hiting with the heel, not the club head

With a high lofted wedge, when you open the face, the loft of the club points more up than to the right. It's the reason good players can hit bunker shots with an open face and a square stance. You don't have to keep the face open, you can allow it to close during the swing. Just feel like you are throwing the clubhead past your hands - it feels like a casting motion, but it exposes the bounce and allow the club to glide through the sand.
For god’s sake stop asking tour players to describe how they hit shots, and just film them hitting them. They don’t have any idea how they’re doing what they’re doing, nor should they. Just throw them some balls, and ask them to do tricks; stop asking the dogs to explain the tricks. It’s ALWAYS awful.

Rory is a fantastic golfer, but a poor teacher. And that’s fine - teaching is it’s own skill, and not one Rory is practiced at. Maybe don't put your athletes in positions they can't shine at, TaylorMade!
2 1/2 minute video. He doesn’t teach anything lmao
