In this animation we will explain the basic principles of roots blowers, which are used in cars.
Contents
1) Roots blower of the Bugatti Type 35
2) Roots blower rotors (twisted lobes vs. straight lobes)
3) Suction side and pressure side
4) Muscle cars and souped-up sports cars
5) Additional intercooler
6) Compressed air
7) Difference to a suction engine

I subbed a long time ago because your explanations and animations are spot-on. Probably the easiest videos to learn how things work.
Excellent. This is the most accurate visual representation that I’ve found to help explain positive displacement superchargers.
Excellent video, animation & explanation. Special respect to the engineers who invented the "Blower" over a century ago!
The Roots brothers brought me here. This is a superb animation. Thank you
Thomas, es usted un experto en la materia!
iv watched a lot of cgi/cad videos on youtube. this might be the best production iv seen. thank you.

Amazing animations.
Really needed it, Thanks 🙋♂️
This was exactly the introduction I needed to learn how/why superchargers work! Now I want one on my Tacoma.

Beautiful! Thank you!
Hope you will keep doing your amazing work . Bring knowledge to the world :)
Excellent!
Superb animation.
I work at Roots building these and this is a good video explaining how they work.

Thanks sir for another video
I always like ur explaining and ur vids. Bless u, sir.

Nice keep it up 😉😉
Outstanding video. Interesting topic? Check. Well animated? Check. Cool camera work? Good background music? Well narrated? Check, check, and check. Good one, Thomas!
very cool
Well explained

Great, just woooooooooowww!🔥🔥🔥
I have been watching his videos for a long time now. His videos helped me a lot to understand engineering concepts than any book I have read so far. Animations are beyond amazing!!

I don't get it. Budack/atkinson engine tries to lower the air intake then this one tries to pump more air. What effect does it do?
Can anything be done to the blower to increase the amount of air it pushes
What's the diff between this and twin screw?
What's the name of the background music in this video?
bom vídeo
Hi, what is the name of the music used?
What animation, 3d modeling program do you use? I'm graduating college and loving the 3DS max aspect of modeling, mental ray or vray, with key shot renderings. Whats a typical salary for doing stuff you do if i may ask? Also, great tutorial, instructional vids, helps me when i open up my supercharger to change out the isolator and re-lube the seals where the 2 rotors are attached too.

Does a roots supercharger become the single source of air flow by eliminating a regular air intake? or is the supercharger and addition to the regular air intake?
@RegulerShowTV

Fernando Arzate a roots type will entirely replace the normal intake manifold to make room for the intercooler.
Are Supercharger motors gas-killers and do they much cost to build in a car? Aswell its a awesome video!

I was today years old when I learned that the air goes around the outside of the supercharger. I always thought it got squeezed between the blades and I was very confused how that setup is supposed to move any amount of air. But now it makes way more sense.
can we know what programme are u using ? :)

You forget that twisted lobes are used because they provide consistent air flow

They didn't actually come up with the roots style blower. It was used on 2 stroke diesel engines long before it was used on a gasoline engine

When you sent the liquid through the supercharger the angle made the rotors look like figit spinner's
Why does the air go around, and not on the inside of the rotors?
@krismoe31
7 жыл бұрын
Frederik Vestergaard there is no space for the air to occupy on the inside. On the outside the rotors move the air to the outlet and the "collapsing" of space force the air out of the housing

Can you reduce the frequency of "Support this channel" pop up to only three times in a video. It's kinda distracting. At start, middle and end of video. Love your videos!
