@@hannahbg1852 there is enough evidence for me to believe it was Gaster who corrupted him. Gaster is very Present throughout Deltarune, amd the fact that Seam mentioned Jevil meeting a "Strange Man" not "The Knight". Plus i believe it is hinted that Seam x Jevil may even be canon. I'm not saying it is, just Seam saying "If I wasn't forced to lock him up, would I have found a little more purpose in my life?" seems to hint that the ship may be canon, and we know Toby when it comes to gay ships so i wouldn't be surprised if it is.

@@hannahbg1852 we don't know if Seam is that much older than Jevil. They have very different personalities. For all we know, Jevil could be older. Their personalities don't determine their age. I definetly know that some older people can be like Jevil, while some others can be like Seam around the same age range. As for Jevil's insanity, we can even say he completely disregards his age because he knows he is just code, and not real. Seam misses him, and that is definitely evident. The way he changes when you first mention him, at first he doesn't care, or take interest in anything, but when you mention Jevil, he completely changes the way he acts.

@@hannahbg1852 Whether their relationship was strictly platonic or not, it is hinted that they used to be very close. Jevil wasn't always insane, you know. And who knows, just because someone's lost their mind, doesn't mean they won't be able to love. I'm fine either way with them being just good friends or something more. Maybe we'll get to learn more about their relationship in later chapters. Afterall, we've only got the first chapter to go off of for the time being. It's fine by me that you don't ship them, but please dont give the people who do ship them grief.
