I know this comment is four years old. But I have to put my 2 cents in anyway. Criticism is how we learn and grow in all ways. Especially in making stuff like this. Minor stuff can break a production. I know that from experience. That said, this was a pretty fun ride of a proof of concept. I hope these guys and gals keep going
I understand the acting isn’t gonna be top notch with these short films but that doesn’t stop me from enjoying the film , I honestly love the cheesiness of some of these films , I actually enjoy it more than most new horror films that come out . Sure was now that u mentioned it. Plus i really didn't like the way the attendant kept calling the young man "Boy"...he just kept calling him that like with a capital 'B'...yeah i noticed it. The movie wasn't all that bad...acting coulda been better but I've seen worse.
Should call this movie “Don’t Split Up” - rule 1 of horror movies man, don’t go off alone! Some really nice cinematography, lighting and sound. The editing was really nice towards the end. You got all the technical skills down, you need to get a better script thats on par with your tech skills. The plot was just too cliche and predictable. The acting was so-so but did seem to get much better as the film progressed - maybe everyone settled down and got more comfortable in front of the camera. Maybe next time try shooting some of the action stuff first because there’s less talking and trying to act natural. Use their adrenaline for the high adrenaline scenes. Then once the actors get comfortable, do the ‘boring’ talking scenes, they may be more relaxed and natural at this point. I do appreciate this wasn’t a ‘found footage’ film too so thanks for that - nice job. Thanks for posting.

sheryl BUTLER THANK YOU!! Someone else noticed, other than me! I thought, ok maybe it’s a first for them. But acting, has to come natural, and you act as natural as you can, to play a character. But the whole time I was watching this, 1. All I could focus on, were that dudes tribal tattoos, thinking 🤔 are they the real thing, or just for the camera... either one, they’re shocking! Just like his poor acting 🤦🏻♀️ 2. They start off with him, having a major sook, about having to pass his grades, and I’m thinking 🤔 again... Bro! You need to man up, and act like a man! Even the dude, who’s playing a homosexual guy, is acting more manly than this dude! Whimpering, like a sick puppy. Honestly made me want to puke 🤢 🤮 But. On a serious note. I wanted to stop, no sooner had I started. But, you know when the acting is that forced, and false, you begin to watch. I’m only in 5 minutes. I reckon I’ll be out, looking for another good short, in about, another three minutes. Shorts, just like any major film, has to grab your full attention. Mines very limited. So. It’s got to be a good one, from the get go, or, I’m outski! I’m just glad someone else noticed 💯🤞🏻🙏🏼

That's one of the many things I love about music. You can change it up a little an make your own, make it unique. Along with numbers I think music can be a universal language. Perhaps one day even a intergalactic language. LoL Perhaps...
Out of all the comments I read no one addresses the "boy" comment. Why in almost every horror movie when someone stops at the gas station the attendant always has to be racist or use racist comments? Why does that even have to be included in this short and every other movie over and over again? We need to get past this.... But I digress 🤐

Good production values. BUT:- They looked too old to be students. He wanted to film a documentary, so why did they conduct a seance instead? It’s always “after midnight”, at any time of day. They didn’t need to unlock the chain to enter the room, they could just have stepped over it. A hotel bedroom with a glass panelled door - really? Why did they go there at night anyway?

In Greenland, this song is known by the name of Kipisarnarlunga Asasannut, which means To My Dear Missed Ones. It is about somebody, who had to leave his hometown for education. Greenland is a very big place, and back then, only a few folks left their safe environment for a higher education. In the 1950s, almost ALL folks went to Denmark to study. I saw every scary movie combined here. 1. Creepy gas station guy. 2. Warning sheriff. 3. "I feel evil" girl. 4. Typical zombie ghost? 5. Children singing? Why? 6. Room 13! Oooh!*Yawn* Okay, doing a documentary. Give plain detail. Simple, 1943 Girl dies at Chesterfield Hotel body never found. 1942. Lily Mason, Singer traveling with troupe. no criminal behavior just a nice girl in show circuit. Go to town and talk about the story. A waitress says Lily's sister lives in town. Part of same trope. 97yr old Judy Mason. She tells you she never looked for her sister. Didn't care after she stole her fiance. Both actually vanished! Good riddance. Investigation leads to cottage after info found at hotel from friend with psychic abilities finds a letter behind a painting. Go to with old music: "Don't sit under the apple tree" (*related to that era.) Kids find Lily and Jonathan at the cottage... mummified. Fragile Judy meets them there. She tells her story. Then tells grand son to take them to the pond. Get rid of them. But, the ghost of Lily and Johnathan kills Judy.

I think the ambiance was good. The hotel looked authentic. The acting was way better than some shorts i have seen trust me. It doesnt always come naturally thats why actors take classes to work on their craft. I did notice a few mess ups in the dialogue but meh. The ghost i wouldnt have gone for the typical nightgown messy blonde. I would have had her in clothes from the time period she died but yes disheveled ,more dark eyes and smudged lipstick, bloody etc like she put up a fight before she was killed. The lighting was decent in the hotel. But watch transitioning from scene to scene it was abit too choppy. But hey i liked it i think there should be a part two.

The opening scenes were simply amazing! I've only watched the beginning so far but it impressed me so much I had to comment before finishing the film lol. Well done!

@@Directorraul dude, so personal responses. I feel ya brah. Just kidding, only not!
Well I’m gonna be honest I did not find their acting awful I Personally thought they were really good.. it’s not a Hollywood movie at the end of the day, Maybe one day they will be or producers etc! Fabulous effect for novices, it’s a Yes off me 😁

Surprisingly watchable addition to the genre. It manages to include almost every cliché in the book. The course of the story, predictable. The goals set by the filmmaker are basic scare stuff, achieved with little effort or originality. It produces easily attained jolts such as the basic jump shot and the standard creepy kids flash. And yet I watch it and embrace and enjoy the predictability, The acting was not as bad as others have made it out to be, more like method acting on a very relaxed scale .

Hey Janani thanks for your feedback we shots this short film almost 4 years now I was still learning on outing together a cast and crew myself. We shot this in a day with zero money for noting.
OK acting, but waaay too dark, even for mood. Plus, the gas station scene was not good. It was immediately recognizable as an historic prop (with the push button for history next to the door and the scenic attraction sign above it). Otherwise, ok

so many issues: why was the electricity still on? why was it so damn dark you could hardly see anything even in the hallway with the overhead light? how did the cop get there so quickly? why did the guy who called the cop say they were in the woods/he didn’t know where they were? why did the cop say they wanted fresh eyes to get clues but to stay out of room 13 (presumably where the clues would be)? I could go on and on... the premise could potentially be promising, especially since it was based on a true story (I doubt anything to do with the Scooby Doo crew was true), but it needs a lot of work

Raul Colon you are welcome - I didn’t expect you to read that or i would have been less of an ass about it. you are definitely talented and most of what i listed was just nit-picking; I do think this is a good basis for a movie. I, too, believe you will keep getting better - and your positive response to a critique is a big reason why. I’m looking forward to seeing even bigger and better things from you! ❤️
