Sunfyre crying literally made me cry this episode. I know the war is about dragons v dragons but it’s so sad 😭
Rhaenys returned because regardless of the ambush, the order from her queen and the original intention was to secure rooks rest and stop criston cole's advance. she could've easily fled on several occasions but that would mean effectively giving up the crownlands and maybe the war at this point, so se took her chances and decided to fight. she already beat aegon and she saw how ruthless aemond was, so in a sense dhe was hoping she could end the whole war for rhaenyra here once and for all,. In a sense she knew the danger she was in so you could say she was effectively commiting suicide, but she also knew what fleeing would mean for rhaenyras war effort, so she stayed and fought... say what you wil about rhaenys but if she was the queen she seemed the kind to take on the battle herself rather than send people to do the fighting for her, something we see in rhaenyra too, which is why she stands by her

Finally, someone acknowledged how crucial it is to stay or flee that would effectively showcase how the blacks are determined despite being outnumbered in the army, and 2 v 1 dragon fight. Don't get me wrong, fleeing is not cowardice but this is what heroes and heroines do.

I mean the little harm she could cause to Vhagar was a win. It was worth trying to at least incapacitate Vhagar. She did made sense going back to chase him and try to do as much to it as possible, even at the cost of her life, which we see she realizes its about to happen.

“Princess Rhaenys made no attempt to flee. With a glad cry and a crack of her whip, she turned Meleys toward the foe.” - Fire & Blood. Rhaenys Targaryen and her dragon Meleys not backing down and bravely facing Vhagar. Princess Rhaenys could have escaped If she wanted to. Meleys is faster than Vhagar and Caraxes. Rhaenys chose to stay because she saw and she knew she had the chance to injure Vhagar and somewhat incapacitate her and Aemond to fight in the future even at the expense of her and Meleys life.
@andalilbitqueer
13 күн бұрын
that quote works a bit less here, because in the book Vhagar and Sunfyre fought a coordinated attack, so "she made no attempt to flee" shows her bravery. In the show, she fought Sunfyre first, took him down, and then had to choose whether she would battle Vhagar or not, which I think makes her last stand a little bit less impactful.

As a book reader and diehard hater of later seasons of GoT due to bad writing I'm gonna say - many book fans are just sad loosers who cry "bad writing" whenever something doesn't play out like their headcanon. It's known in this fanbase... Don't listen to these people.
@dnocturn84
13 күн бұрын
Ok, the vast majority might truely be haters due to their "headcanon". But it's not just that. I'm a fan of the books, actually assumed Danys demise and her end (did not expect Bran to become king though). I even liked many of the showriters choices (like skipping Lady Stoneheart, or fake Arya and many more "distracting" sidequests by GRRM), but they did really screw up the later seasons - not just because of "headcanon" issues. Sandsnakes - purely wasted idea. Euron Greyjoy (and missing Victarion) not worth even introducing him. Dialoges? Flat, too many stupid one-liners, sometimes purely fan-service. Plot? Characters warping around Westeros, among many other issues. Technical side? Long Night a mess of darkness, no strategy, non-logical battle, totally forgotten Dothraki losses. Battle of the Bastards equally bad. Ramsays army slowly walking shields-up around Johns, to surround them? WTF? Bells that now ring for a city to surrender? While it was established, that they never mean surrender previously. Then they claimed to not have enough time and budget to do some of the important moments - but gave us 10 minutes of Jamie and Tyrion talking about their stone-mashing stupid cousin? I am thankful, that they finished the show, but later seasons are getting worse and worse. In a technical perspective, in a logical way, how events unfold and lore is getting screwed, in a screenwriters perspective and so on. It may not be horrible, but it is mediocre at best. Sorry.

@@SaiyanSerenityV I get that. As an adaptation I don't like it either. Diddle&Dumb's changes were insults to the books back then already and cutting out so much of the fantasy elements... But I view early GoT seasons as their own story and as for that it's still absolutely brilliant. It's just not what the books are. This? Fuck! Ryan Condall knows this world and you can feel it! This is what ASOIAF actually is! As an adaptation of George's world this is definitely better then GoT.
You didn't need to be a book reader to know Rhaenys was dying this season but damn I really wasn't expecting it this early, thought it would be an episode 7 or 8 moment. Heartbreaking stuff watching the looks exchanged between Rhaenys and Meleys. Really wish she dipped because Eve Best has done an amazing job playing the role. Not really because nobody would know who she is it’s been a while and when she was spotted she was wearing gowns and jewels at least this costume covered her head and body so much harder to recognise not to mention many Targaryen’s actually became septon’s at this time so nobody would put 2 and 2 together if they saw her hair colour.
As Maelys cast a final glance at Rhaenys, essentially bidding farewell, I found myself deeply moved. Regardless of one's allegiance, such moments evoke genuine sadness.
The concoction that Alys gave Daemon was Weirwood sap, it's what Bran consumes to enhance his Greenseer powers. He drank it because he had just seen her eat some and then add hot water to it. In the books, it is said that she appears younger than she really is, but according to the showrunner, Ryan Condel, she is 400 years old.
Those of us who have read the book know the outcome of people and the war, know not to get attached to characters but its hard. Rhaenys and Meleys RIP. And Daemon is at the wrong place with a guilty conscience. A cursed haunted place with a Weirwood tree. You noticed he woke up in front of it last episode. Not to mention the bed he is sleeping on is made of Weirwood. So close to ending Crispy Cole, Lord of Projection

Alicent didn’t say “to put yourself in danger.” She coldly said “do nothing” in answer to the question of what he could do to be helpful. She essentially told him he was worthless.
Since you asked, the brew given to Alicent in this episode is referred to as Moon Tea in the books, with menstruation being referred to as having one’s Moon’s Blood. The ingredients mentioned in the book include tansy, wormwood and pennyroyal, all of which could bring on a miscarriage in real life, and should definitely be avoided by pregnant women. In the primary series of Game of Thrones, Lysa Arryn was forced to drink it by her father when she became pregnant by Petyr Baelish as an unmarried, young girl. It resulted in both lasting physical and mental damage for Lysa. I would imagine that if taken right away, as more of a preventative, the physical damage is minimal to unlikely.
I think she knew she was on a kamikaze mission. She was the one til now saying never send in the dragons because it’s a nuclear option. She decided that’s the only option left and took it upon herself to do this showing Rhaenyra this is what they have to do. I love the exchanged look of Meleys and her knowing it was the end and thanks for all the memories type of look. I guess Aegon shouldn’t have humiliated Aemond last episode. I feel that he’s still alive but in bad shape because they would’ve shown him dead. Sad to see her and her dragon go. It was truly heartbreaking

The Reds couldn't send more than one dragon because then Dragonstone would be unguarded. Keep in mind Rhaenyra's dragon is mid-sized while Jace's and Baela's are relatively small (smaller than Aegon's). With Daemon gone, sending Rhaenys was the only real option.

The thing i love about this series is how multi-faceted the antagonists are, they have elements that make you like them, believe they'd be good people if they weren't surrounded by so much bloodlust. Except Cole, fuck that guy
They believed Vhegar was guarding Kings Landing but Cole and Aemond knew due to the proximity to Dragonstone, they blacks would have to make moves. To Rhaenys and Meyles credit, they took Vhegar to the ground. She just made the critical mistake of not suspecting that sneak attack. 😢😢😢

11:36 they did not know of the pull out way yet
In season 1, Rhaenys said she wouldn’t leave Meleys when she was escaping King’s Landing. The Queen Who Never Was lived fearlessly, and died amidst Fire and Blood.
Rhaenys wanted to make sure she does everything she can this time, she was the first one to get blamed for not ending the greens when she had the chance. This was her second and a more "proper" chance, since it's already a war.
I love Cody's commentary, hilarious... Been watching you guys from GOT ... And I watched the show 6 years ago
King Viserys the Peaceful kinda had a point about keeping the realm together and not wanting to ride dragons
It HAD to be Rhaenys and Meleys. People are crying…yes I did as well but at the end of the day She redeemed herself because she could have ended it before it began. Also she was counseling Rhaenyra the entire time advising her to hold back from the attack. She died a Queen though. Her death just changed the game. And she was trying to push Corlys to name a successor as well because she KNEW that he is gonna be setting out to avenge her leaving Driftmark Throne vulnerable.
And see Valyrians who have properly bonded with their Dragon, can FEEL each other... When VHAGAR took out Meleys Rhaenys could feel Meleys' Agony... So in a way they BOTH DIED at the same time.
I loved the scenes with the dragons but I also hated the scenes with the dragons. Rhaenys and Meleys made me cry but I loved seeing Aegon and Sunfyre bond for a brief second. I felt so bad for the dragons. Vhagar is a old and nasty girl. It was also great to see Jace actually be a real character, he wants revenge for his brother and I don't blame him. I almost feel bad for Aegon but Alicent is 100% right, he should listen to Otto and her because they have the experience and Otto is very smart.
If she’s dead he better be dead too. But did y’all see how Aemond just walked away 😂😂
I really love that the show made the dragon's fighting as sad as they did. On paper dragon's fighting each other sounds badass, and then you see the reality and you realize how horrific it really is.
12:01 I choked on my own saliva 😂😂😂
Aemond really put team 💚 in a terrible position know Aegon and Sunfyre are Hurt which means he and Dearon have to face 12 dragons

@@musaad2864if you don't know then aegon is not actually died. Sunfyre Is also still alive you can hear voices. But the thing is he maybe in bed for till the end of this season. Might get well soon cause in books he is the one who killed rhaeneyra. But still they can mess around this just like they did in game of thrones last season
If Rhaenyra sent out more dragons with Rhaenys it would have left Dragonstone defenseless, strategically sending Meleys was the best choice since she's the second largest dragon the blacks have after Caraxes. Also, the blacks didn't know Vhagar left king's Landing, she's the only thing that guards the city against Rhaenyra and if she knew that Aemond had left the city she'd have been able to take the capital. Cole knew what he was doing, he won this won, sort of.
Rhaenys wanted a dragonrider's death, like her daughter. I love that detail. RIP
People spent Aegon's whole life trying to get him on the throne...and didn't think to prepare him for the job.
The sarcasm? I love yall💀❤️
oscar and grover tully lol the sesame street/jim henson reference cracked me up
since i watched the episode i needed your reaction
We were all bridgette at the end of the episode, we don't want to WAIT a whole week !!
“Sleep in “ 🤣🤣🤣yeah we all know the damage vhagar does once she shows up
Rook's end garrison only had 100 men, Cole had 15 times that.
Ohhhh this was a good one. Not just the obvious spectacle but the way they built up to it and laid down the groundwork beforehand.
"why cant multiple of us go" - yes! that would be the right thing to do
The last stare :(
Cole acting surprised by the devastation of dragons fighting is ridiculous he should have known what they were bringing to the world with this war
There is a large subset of book readers, who will just call anything that didn't happen in the books "bad writing", and you shouldn't listen to them at all. Its really funny actually to see how book readers, and non-book readers percieve the show. As someone who has read all the books myself, I tend to agree with the non book-readers that this season has been peak!
A Dragon does not bow and neither shall I. Rhaenys Targaryen. In the books it was trap devised by Criston Cole two against one. The Battle started between Sunfyre and Meleys until Daemon and Vhagar came from above. Rhaenys was a warrior through and through and she died for the cause she wholeheartedly believed in. Also what makes it even more heartbreaking is that once upon a time Meleys and Vhagar were once besties in a sense. She was Queen Alyssa's dragon and Vhagar was her Husbands Baelon. They flew all the time together and spent lots of time flying.
