Roof Vent Fan Installation | Wired And Powered The Simple Way
Installing a roof vent fan in my van and wiring and powering the van the simple and easy way. Powered by the Jackery Explorer 440 (CLICK SHOW MORE FOR DISCOUNT CODE)... I chose to install the vent fan above my kitchen because it made sense to be able to kick the fan on while i was cooking and i plan on adding pop out back windows to my van in the future so when they are open the full will pull air in through the back windows on warm evenings causing a small breeze over the bed while i sleep. AND it looks good in the middle of the roof giving me good access storage space to anything on the roof if i decide to add a roof rack and solar later on. The Jackery Explorer 440 is a simple and easy way to power your whole #vanlife #vanbuild #fordE250conversionvan

12:50 is the electric hook up part. This is what I'm here for. This is so much simpler than what most people do.
"...for people who want to keep it super easy, super simple..." 🙋🏼♀️ That's for me! Thank you!
Youve got a great additude ...the world needs more people like you..
bless you this video just saved my van build
You have answered SOOOOO many issues and questions I had and I KNOW I can make this build happen!
Already have aJackery 1000 to power my fridge .... solar 140W on roof to charge Jackery ...I just ordered a Maxairfan to replace the plain 14x14 vent that has fallen apart ...the solar wires I routed through the vent ...so will run the 12V to Jackery & wire it to cig outlet! ...I figured this out myself ...& stoked to see your install validating my decision! Love your channel & loves to Cruze ...I'm a Boxer lover ....bully breeds with smooshed faces are AWESOME!
On this episode of pimp my van Disco films Chrome installing a roof vent like a boss.
Nice job! If anyone else is going to install a new fan that's a great way to do it. Just one thing I would recommend is making a catch from a couple trash bags and letting the metal shavings fall into it. Sure helps to keep them from getting all over the place. Don't forget to caulk all the edges and screws after it's in. I'd recommend boat life caulking it's flexible and obviously really water proof. But as you see if you take a little time and think it through you can do a lot of mod's on your own and know exactly how things are put in and wired up. I'm impressed with the install Chrome! You even made sure the location was kick ass! Now you can do more van life cooking videos 😂 Happy travels! Beeps.
Can confirm Jackery batteries are baller!!!
8:45 Gah Canadians are so nice! Also this was one of the more helpful videos on install even with the missing steps
You are a fearless warrior! Great job, city guy!
Aaaaaaah I'm so excited I found this video! I knew there had to be a simpler way, wire-free way to power the roof fan. I'm sold on thr Jackery!
Amazing job Chrome!!! Again you made living the van life simple. It was a tutorial video done in Chrome fashion!! Phew...I need a beer!
I just went on to Amazon and bought the Jackery 440 with your Promo Code. This will come in handy this summer.
hay chrome did you watch my video on how i install roof fans only you did it exactly how i do drilling pilot hole up from the inside :) good job by the way
Thanks Chrome. I never saw anyone show cutting the trim. I think I can do a vent fan. I see you chose the kitchen, makes sense. Pretty funny, the lady running down the road to check you out. Hugs to Disco Bear.
Hi Chrome, thanks for sharing your time, and info on installing a fan, be safe traveling
Great job chrome and Disco
I think that was the most stress free roof vent fan installation non tutorial video I've seen so far! Lol
You rocked that job. Write MaxWeirdo on it.
Now that you have a roof vent, you just need solar and you'll have all the things you were "suppose" to have before starting van life. 😄 #sarcasm Cause obvs you have been happily living without a roof vent for awhile, and ended up with a free one by waiting over a year. Taking your channel as an inspiration to continue living happily in my (mini)van and take the chances to upgrade as they come.
Weather looks good there it's freezing here snow everywhere I was on the island for 5 years I'm coming back this summer
Thanks Chrome You made it look easy to in stall a roof vent . I will have to invest in one and replace the fan in my camper . 😉🙏✌💞🐶💞👍👌😊
Thanks, mate. My needs are super simple. Just gotta get some air moving in my rig. Don't need a whole setup.
Caveman Grows Up.! Great Job on install. Who needs a Step-by-Step.? We can see what you did. I Gotta Get Me a JACKERY.!!! You could even get a Second One if you needed to. I LOVE SIMPLICITY.! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
You installed the fan, hooray, I was amazed how thin the metal actually was. Nice job Chrome!
Jackery 440 is on my list of things for my van. Just seems simple to power things off of that instead of having to wire the entire van with things. Plus its MOBILE!!!!!!!! Brilliant!!!!!!!! Ok, Have a great day my friend. 2 Thumbs up! Grind on!
Good job Chrome !!!
Super informative. This is exactly what I plan to do to my chevy express as I plan for my new vanlife. I love the “keep it simple” plan. My personal thought is “I would rather do things than have things”. But, the Jackery charger and a vent fan are two things I must have!
Oh finally you got one AWSOME! I just got 2 fantastic fans myself. Van shamus seamus
OMG 😳 I’d have an absolute Coronary if I even thought about cutting a hole 🕳 in the roof of my Van 🚐😳🤣🤦🏻♀️🥺😁. You did an amazing job Chrome 👍🚐😎
I am in the middle of my van build and haven’t hardly documented anything lol 😆 I feel you on that part 👌🏻

This video is EXTREMELY useful to me. The whole video. And seeing your roof groove/channels gooped with the sealer told me the only last thing I needed to know too. THANK YOU for sharing this video with us!
Just bought the same fan for my van, and also have my Jackery1000 to power it. This video made me really stoked on my decision, thanks!
Some young guy alot of his van build in a Home Depot parking lot! Perfe t location since he needed alot and they didnt mind since he was buying so much!
Yep, I'm the kind of person who wants to keep it simple. This is the battery for me.
Thank you for making this video one less thing to freak out about oh my goodness how easy I didn't think about putting a DC connector on it.
Thank you so much really needed this!
The DiscoChromobile is poppin'! Your home is sic man! Great job! 😄👍
Oh my you really have the most practical ideas . I as a woman planning this van life makes me more think that it is possible to start like what you did in the beginning of your vanlife story .thank you for sharing your practical ideas ... hope one day when I start and visit Canada as well , meet and greet you a warm hello ..👍
Looks good Chrome!
Thank you so much for this video! I've looked at so many videos that just show how to install but not how to wire!! Especially if you have a simple setup with the jackery system, so again thank you!!!
Orale not bad Chrome! City boy is a handy man after all! Hey just put van City/van life sticker on your new vent
Thanks for Sharing, Chrome!
Uh oh....where did Disco go? Missed his cute face in this one. Great job on the cutout.

I don’t think Disco is very good with tools & I’m sure hated the sound of the jigsaw cutting the metal of the roof. Poor little guy.
Great job.
Nice, I'm planning to do a similar thing. Could you comment (or show/link a video) of the fans (black/white) wiring, to the black and red wiring (that goes to the electric power station) what you used and how they are joined ? Thank you!

AWESOME!! Home Improvement and Cooking with Chrome... Lol.. Way to go Chrome. 😎👌 I'm guessing Disco The Boss is napping?.. Haha😊.. Great video and thanks for sharing ✌️😎..
LMAO! The warning that you would forget to film some of it, then you made it look like you would not forget, and then "bam!" You jumped to the end, That was so funny. It looked really good and great location.
That was very helpful! I think I'm going to "Jack" up my van. It's just so easy that way. Thank you.
I’m glad things are working out for you man. I have followed you since day one of moving in your van in one day. Ever since then, I moved in my truck (I needed a 4 wheel drive, which I know you are now contemplating). I also went to Vancouver during Christmas after your video with your daughter and the second suspension bridge visit. I went to that bridge and explored Vancouver. I got lost so many times, mainly because I didn’t have cell service there. Totally inspiring stuff Chrome. Keep it up, I know you are killing it on KZread too! Living your best life, but doing what you love in the process.
Great job with the install, im impressed seems you have said your not much of a builder type.👍
#LiveYourPassion Luv you Chrome and Disco !! Normal Sucks !! Weirdos Unite !! 😎 ❤️
Good placement. Good install and charging!
Thank u for the jackery info.✌️❤️🙏🏽
I'm proud for you and proud of you Brother. It looks great!
Hi, great help... I've been stressing over the power source for my Nissan van.
I got a jackery 500 💪🏼
I love your channel. You’ve made our van build so much easier
I guess this important even here in PNW, it's the answer to condensation !
Your fan looks awesome, can't wait for the cabinets I bet it will look so good. 👍
Awesome, thanks!!
Now that’s awesome!!! Good job Chrome!!!👠🚌👠
Nice job!
Thank you soooo much, that's exactly what i was looking , thanks to make it understandable for anyone.
Awesome man, that portable battery device has changed the way I think about van builds! And hello from Devon, UK! Graham.
Great video 💯
That was a ballsy thing to do & U succeeded 💪 Way to go Chrome! Van looks like a great white shark now from the side shot. Very cool. Stay weird.
Haha side of the road install! Awesome! I installed my maxxaire fan in a national forest in California a couple years ago! Pack it in pack it out and it's no big deal.
Great job! I was to scared to cut a hole in my van. So I paid someone a lot of money to do it. You made it look easy.
High Chrome in Disco got my jackery 240 the other day and I love it I ran my TV for three-plus hours and only use 50% of the battery charge my iPhone and only use 37% I love this thing I'm hoping the solar pad will go on sale soon
Good job, Chrome. I had my fingers crossed for you the whole time.👍😁
That vent will come in hand on bean and cheese burrito night. 😆
Looks great, and you dont need much power, even better, take care ...
Looks good!! Thanks my friend!
Awesome job on the fan job Love your simplicity outlook to van life / as it should be Thanks for sharing all your work and finished product....Enjoy the fan
Fan looks good! Can’t wait until you have the LED lights and everything done and plugged into that 440 to see how well it holds up. I’m seriously thinking of going this same route. Safe travels & much love to you, Disco, & our Weirdo Fam
Good job buddy! I think both of you Will greatly appreciate thé New addition this Summer on hot nights
You made installing a roof fan so easy! You may not be a how-to kind of guy but you did a great job showing us how you did it. Thanks Chrome. Love your videos as always. Hugs to Disco!
Hey there I really appreciate your tutorial because I had no idea how to rig the power. That’s pretty basic for it to just run off my solar inverter generator. Dude many thanks!
Great video
I live in Missouri and sometimes we get heat up to 102 in the summer and really cold in the winter..
Great Job, thanks for sharing, Love you guys 😍
I might have to get a jackery... going to do solo van trips. I want to keep the van like a van, so modular interior. His would be perfect for it I think!

Hey Amanda! You can still use a fan just make a wooden window mount for it and it will be fine moving air inside. And you don't have to make any changes to the van. You can also make your cabinets fit the sides and just have a set of braces top and bottom to keep them in place. And the upper braces are great for adding LED lights. They are right where you need them over the counter's. Hit me up in Discord if you need any help with the design.

@@Makeitbymandy I'm trying to figure out if I should get that, or a secondary battery for my inverter. It runs off the van battery now, so I have to have the van running for big stuff. I wanna make sure I can run my vitamix for smoothies lol

Awesome Vid bro ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🏴 Glasgow Scotland.Looking fwd to using ours with MaxxAir +CoolBox+USB charging of devices all together
Great learning experience Chrome, especially the thought process behind the set-up. Thanks for the stickers, received them last week!
I'm digging that blues track
Nicely done, Chrome. Clear, succinct, easy. Beautifully filmed. What more could we ask? Thanks..
I was considering wiring it to a normal plug, but the lighter is a great idea, cause then it doesn't use one of the outlets. Love the power demonstration. Thanks!

I had a mini freak out, I wired it to a lighter plug, then it stopped working after about 30 seconds. After 3 hours of troubleshooting on the fan I realized I blew the fuse inside the lighter plug. Works like a charm with a new fuse!
You did a great job! Actually the tutorial was good too!
Good job Chrome. I would have got the Maxx hair fan too. 👍🏼😊
Nice spot
Congrats dude! KISS
great job on this vent/fan process. i think you deserve an increase through Jackery. i hope they make you $$$ and thumbs-up!
great job.love the fan! disco be happy too.nice cool nights!
Love the Jackery.... 440 is Awesome... will do all your power for your van it's nice
Nice job ... it's about time
Glad u got the MaxxAir! A number of folks have said it’s sturdier and more versatile than the Fantastic Fan. Can’t wait to see how you like it! Ps: I had a thought for your concern over doing more cooking and getting goober on the ceiling fabric...how about a simple sheet of plexiglas to put on the wall/ceiling near where you cook so that you can still enjoy your decor, but you can wipe it clean easily after cooking?

What is especially nice is it doesn’t need a bulky rain cover. The cover is built in.
