The host is hilarious. “Oh Wow”. He’s absolutely bloody clueless. He asks them who has the best safety game which is effectively tactical nous and then after they answer, he proceeds to ask them who has the best knowledge and table IQ. Snooker really is one of those games where you need to play it to have a real understanding. It’s not enough to watch it on a screen because you can’t appreciate the pressure on particular shots or the skill required. I have played for 15 years and know a number of the players on the tour. You would be amazed how good some of these blokes are in practice. There are players in practice who can play as well as the likes of O’Sullivan, Higgins and Trump do on TV. A few examples I have seen play incredible snooker are Rob Milkins and Mark Davis. Obviously it’s about doing it on the main stage and that’s what separates the top boys from the rest.

Yeah, he's asking two questions which are the same in one sentence? There's simply zero standard to be a Eurosport presenter and there appears to be no dress code either. I do appreciate it when both the presenter and the guests make an effort as it's not too much to ask now, is it? The BBC is better but not as good as it has been in the past. It's clear that they're trying to appeal to this brainwashed lost generation of morons.

the standard wasn't as high when he was playing and he's already admitted that as has Steve Davis. the standard got really high when the class of 92 came along. Now in order for Ronnie or John Higgins to win, they have to play top quality with the likes of Selby, 4 times world champion, Robertson, a world champion along with Trump. Mark Allen, Williams Roberts, Ding, Selby, Kiran Wilson. All of these players were as good as if not better than Davis at the top of his game. I would say Hendry would not have liked to have played Trump, Selby, Higgins, Ronnie, Robertson, Williams and Bracel at the top of their games. These players make centuries every fourth visit to the table now for the season. The standard is so high now that they stopped giving out big prize money for the 147s. The answer is that Hendry and Davis were brilliant at their prime but they'd never have won so much with the players that I mentioned if they were around at the same time as them.

Memories are short. Snooker has changed enormously with the superfast cloths, heated tables and the perfectly spherical balls and potting and screwing back is so easy in comparison they forget that the old guys in the 70s were real masters of safety play way beyond anything you see today. John Pullman particularly was essentially a billiards player and his safety play was really exceptional as was Ray Reardon and John Spencer (I remember Spencer needing 7 snookers and getting them). Any one of them was better at safety play than anyone today. Big fan of Steve Davis but Stephen Hendry would never have missed that black. Hendry had the best temperament which is why he won more world titles. Davis's positional play was exceptional. The reason he was considered boring is he hardly ever lost the cue ball and so many of his pots looked easy. White used to spray the cue ball all over the place and consequently often had to do something really exceptional to keep going but of course, you can only do that so many times and that's why he always lost the world championship. Ronnie is the greatest talent. To paraphrase Guardiola, 'He sits at the table alone' but he still lost to Hendry in the day because of temperament. I mean, find a video of the great Joe Davis playing. Watch the ball bobble along and see how quickly it stops after he hits it. There was no way anyone was going to screw back down the table on that cloth, plus the bias on the cloth was way more important because the pile was a lot longer. They just didn't have the range of shots open to them and getting even 40 was a major challenge so naturally, they had to be good at safety play. Steve Davis is a bit before those three guys talking, and he grew up playing on those awful old tables which is why his cue ball control was so good. His safety play was excellent but I'll bet if they'd asked him he'd have picked one of the guys I mentioned at the beginning as the best because he actually played against them when they were great.

People forget that although Hendry has dropped down on the all time list of centuries made, when he was in his pomp there were far fewer tournaments, maybe only 6/7 a season so to make nearly 800 centuries was an incredible feat!

Ronnie can't play those shots from distance, he's never even attempted them. Alex Higgins and Spencer, Jimmy and Trump were the greatest at screw back from distance, Spencer and Higgins were doing them the full length of the table and back up to the blue spot on old 1970s tables with heavier cloths and balls. That's cuemanship - Ronnie doesn't have that.

This was very cringey . They all knew what this segment was about but it looked so awkward and you could tell the pros just wanted it to end . The last bit was especially embarrassing . I like radzi, good listener , genuinely wants to learn about the sport but he’s just too young and inexperienced with snooker , hence his questions and reactions . I miss the days of past Eurosport presenters. They had good banter with pundits and players

For long pots it's Williams, Robertson,Trump and Hendry. Safety is Davis and Selby. Temperament is Williams, Selby and Hendry. Breakbuilding has to be Ronnie, Trump and Hendry. Power is Trump. Creativity? Hendry, Bracelet and O'Sullivan. For showmanship you could have Ronnie, White, Alex Higgins or Trump. Jimmy is the forgotten man in all of these categories but he was an amazing player in his prime. I would certainly nominate him in the flair and showmanship category. Overall? Ronnie, Hendry, Selby and Higgins but who knows where Trump will feature once he has finished his career. He's certainly knocking on the door of greatness.

He was statistically the best ranked offensive player of 2023 for instance.

Mark Williams safety play? The guy was known for throwing away games because his safety was so average. Best safety player would have to go to the obvious players like Mark Selby and Stephen Hendry in their prime. Mark Williams does not have the best temperament as if he did, he wouldn't have choked in so many quarter, semi and finals The best players of their era was Steve Davis, Steven Hendry, , John Higgins but Ronnie is the master of them all having one 41 ranking tournaments. You've got to throw in Mark Selby too, he's got four world championships a nightmare for any opponent because of his temperament, his safety game and his all round game. Trump needs a better mentality and temperament as the lack of these traits is what's preventing him from winning more triple crowns.
