Yup focus calibration - it’s because the lens doesn’t have a hard stop on the focus wheel. Yes, use “set start/end point manually”

Yeah I tried making sure it was tight and mounted correctly, but it would still slip. So I had to enter the end points manually.

For real! I'm not sure how it's SUPPOSED to work, but it works just fine if it lets you turn the knob and move the focus lol.

I dealt with the same issue while trying to calibrate my lens for the RS3 Pro lidar system. Solved the over rotating by adding a rubber band between the lens and focus motor to bind the motor closer to the gear ring. Problem solved. Probably means that the focus motor is not mounted properly to my rig.

Dude, I have the same problem with Lidar right now! I also added a rubber band on the lens to help with the motor rotation, but after it finished the wheel on the motor did not want to spin when I was supposed to focus the camera at 1m and 4m distance. It almost feel like it locks itself at that point. Any chance you know what's the problem? Any kind of help would be much appreciated!

Well, the calibration requires that the focus motor does not slip. The Focus Motor (2022) does have more torque, so tougher to not slip. The idea is that when motor runs long enough to reach the limit of the lens, the lens would stop or resist the motor from turning, therefore calibrate it's limit at that point, then it would travel to the opposite end, stop and set its limit there.

Yeah I tried tightening everything beforehand and making them as tight as possible, but it would keep doing that. There didn't seem to be a way to make it not happen.

Issue is - Canon lenses don't have the "hard stop" on focus, you can still spin the focus ring pass the infinity

Great Video Seth, I had the exact same “remote enable” issue on the R5 and found the solution after a lot of work with Mr Google , I also have an R7 and it has that same “Remote enable” option . What I’ve noticed though is that if you put the camera back in “Photo” mode then that menu item defaults to “disable” . I’ve also been singularly unable to get the gimbal with “three trigger pulls” to reliable rotate to selfie mode. If you assign the M button to “take photo” it doesn’t work, if you change the camera mode to “photo” it doesn’t 😂work , probably because “remote” is now disabled ! If you use a cable the camera has to be in photo mode, the M button takes a picture but I don’t see the indication that its focused but I do on the Red button and of course a few other functions work withe the cable like setting the dial to ISO . Apart from those quirks it all seems pretty functional (as with you my first gimbal apart from the OM 4 for my phone) , I did get the briefcase handle with a SmallRig grip that seems to make a hell of a difference to holding the RS3 as its handle is quite short so with a camera out in front it has a surprising amount of leverage on my older arms. (I’m retired). Kept it up you deserve more subs, count me in as a measure of solidarity from a channel smaller than yours😀

Thanks so much! Appreciate the comment and connecting with another creator :) Yeah I got the extra handle grip with the pro combo and I always use it. It's nice having a handle on the side or stacked on top of each other. That's crazy about all those modes haha. I think I tried taking a photo and couldn't figure it out, but I'm also never going to take a photo while it's on my gimbal so I didn't try too hard 😂 I love this thing so much for the locking feature and the ease of use. It is really nice. And really nice with the raveneye as well. The setup is awesome.

When you’ve got a AF-lens you can enable the AFmode on the lens and disable it on the body. Then select dial focus on your rs3 (of course bt has to be connected). This way you don’t need a separate focus motor and you’re able to focus manually. It works with my Sony A7s III, I see no reason that it wouldn’t with a Canon. (One can adjust dial speed as wel).

Literally just purchased it for my eos r as well, but one cool thing I noticed, is if you are using the compatible lens, you can literally just use the usb c cable to pull focus without the motor. just make sure the dial is on the right setting

What?! Dude, thanks! I was about to return the RS3 to get the RS3 combo just for the focus motor. I connected with the usb-c cable the canon eos R with a sigma lense with EF-RF converter, and the dial focus works on the gimbal now. 🤯

You missed a step, put the lens support on the baseplate, and manually set the focus endpoints because this lens is AF lens with no hard stops.

Very true, I didn't figure that out until after using it. And a friend of mine explained that difference between lenses with hard stops and lenses like these that don't.

Bro I wished I should've seen this video like 3 days ago, cause I was going crazy with the same issues. I don't know if the KZreadrs out there are too much of a pro cause most of them don't explain these simple things. I had to check about 25 videos to make my sony work via Bluetooth and then how to connect the raven eye ( since I have the rs3pro) plus the focus motor. I'm a gimbal beginner so maybe for other people is easy but for me, I wished DJI had more instructions... The only issue I'm having right now is that when I put the raven eye with the cables the focus motor belt gets stuck with all those cables in the middle of the way. Like you said is just annoying, now I understand why people hate gimbals lolol

Oh man I’m so sorry! Haha. Yeah DJI has ZERO instructions and not many people will just explain the simple ways of how to use the dang thing. Try turning the cords around, and also look for extra ports on both sides of the raveneye! I was also confused about that at first but figured it out.

But don’t be discouraged, the rs3 is actually really sick and so helpful in how we use gimbals today. It’s the only reason I even got a gimbal.

Nice explanation! But not all the problems are solved for me. To use focus motor by rotation the dial on RS3 I think I have to use the cable plugged into the camera and into the RS3. But, on this condition, the bluetooth is disable and I can´t use the record button on RS3. Do you realize it? Help me, please. How can I use record button on RS3 and the same time use the dial to change ISO speed or focus motor or change aperture on the camera? Thanks!

Make sur the usb c cable from the focus motor is put in the middle one of the ports of the gimbals ! Maybe that can help if it was not done like this before :)

@@hatim_the_carguy Oh dang that sucks. I'm not really sure :/ As long as the cords are connected properly and the battery is charged, I don't see why it wouldn't work. I'd try messing with it when you aren't shooting and see what happens. Double check all your settings and see if you can change something. Make sure everything is in manual mode. As far as the end points, I'm also not sure. I'd say experiment with it on your off time and maybe make your own youtube video about it so you can help other people haha.

@@gamingnj9645 I think maybe make sure that the focus motor settings are turned off. It might also need to be connected through USB-C cable to work properly with that. Maybe try that out.
