This is not the most extreme car chase scene. Many many more movies have more spectacular crashes, higher speeds and insane stunts. But the magic of this car chase is that it does not exceed the limits of "real". It feels so real (without impossible stunts) so that you can feel Driver's fear when they drive in the opposite direction, even the broken bumpers feel like a big deal. Thats why its so awesome.

You have to remember that its slightly easier of the chasing car, as the path has mostly been cleared by the BMW. The driver of the car being chased has more factors to take into account in order to maintain speed - the chasing car merely has to hang on to the rear end of its quarry. This would negate any power difference between the two cars.

Too true, much easier to chase especially at night. Flat out on narrow country roads in Jersey 1980's able to stay with a Golf GTI in a rented Metro! On the other hand overtaken by TVR Tuscan and similar that just are gone. Most impressive were two motorbikes heading north on M23 that passed an 80mph cruise as if parked...must have been going 180 the second one threw up huge rooster tail of dust cutting over to hard shoulder to avoid jostling traffic.....most impressive...no number plates as a wise precaution.

The TWO main car chases in the movie (there’s a shorter but nonetheless very impressive multiple car chase earlier in the movie) really wowed me back when it first screened… The amount of skilful car control in this sequence is impressive in itself, but one also has to appreciate the immense amount of planning & coordination required, to involve so many cars & drivers & to safely synchronise the sequences where the two cars are driving against the traffic flow, for example… Also, I have never understood why Public Authorities willingly grant permits for such dangerous stunts on their public roads & especially in built up areas… particularly in confined places such as road tunnels, where damage to the structures is inevitable with some of the high speed crash stunts… Film makers are not the most public spirited of people; they only care about getting the spectacular sequences that will garner praise from audiences & film critics… & they don’t usually care who gets injured & what gets broken or trashed in order to achieve that. Yes - they will have costly insurance to cover many of the risks, but one can be sure that a lot of under the table schmoozing, promises of tickets to the Premiere & other such “unofficial inducements” to the relevant officials take place, to increase the chances of being granted the relevant permits… as well as the largely hollow claim that the locality will gain potentially lucrative publicity, by being prominently featured in the Movie… 🥱
@domedwards5256

Sometimes people just want to be part of the glamour, and the fact is films can bring a lot of money to local governments. Becoming a place known to be hostile to making movies not only takes away potential revenue, but it also takes away A LOT of free publicity. Paris is the most visited city on Earth for modern tourism, and there is directly linked to the romance and myth exported by popular culture, especially movies.

One of my FAVOURITE chase scenes! Love the way they made it just a raw chase with no musik ,real cars sounds. Its just great. And Scorionreptyle, Peugots are great cars and I would say it would have had the upper hand in this chase due to the fact that its lightweight, smaller engine which revs higher than the bimmers bigger inline 6 and allows it to manouver in the city alot easier.

Ahhhhhh gli anni 90!!! Che bei tempi!!! 👍👍👍
@domedwards5256

Saw this on the movie theaters, was blown away. Great movie great cars. The D2 s8 was awesome as well.
Pro tip: next time you do crazy car chasing stuff, don't forget to constantly flash your high beam lights!!! Otherwise: no chance!

If anyone's wondering that's not really an M5, it's a 535i with an M5 badge on the back. I mean they used various BMWs while filming this chase, an M5 might have been one of the cars they used for some shots, but mostly I believe it's a 535i with M5 badges.
