I loved this video! Such a wonderful tour. The church with the Apostles is quite beautiful. I could look in there for hours. The martyr deaths so interesting and so sad to know. The "live skinning" is too horrific to comprehend. The church with the stair, was the sculpture outside Jesus with Judas betraying with a kiss? Thank you so much for sharing this. The sky and clouds were. Just beautiful ttlhat day.🥰🥰

Thanks for the beautiful comments my friend. Yes, the statues on the right portrayed Judas Iscariot betraying Jesus with a kiss. And the ones on the left depicted Pontius Pilate declaring Jesus sinless before handing him over to be crucified. I'm sorry I didn't caption the statues. I hope you have a beautiful day

Went into 1 of the tourist trap cafes you walked by nearing the Colosseum where they refused to let us order at the bar and charged more than double at the table. Most people dont know that this church is the official seat of the Pope, it is not St.Peters. This church is much, much older than St.Peter.

St John’s is the cathedral of the city of Rome. The pope is the bishop. The large chair that you passed is the seat of the bishop. His throne or Cathedra. That’s how we get the word Cathedral. Until the building of the new St Peter’s and Vatican City in the 16th century, this is where the papacy resided. I believe in the Acts of the Apostles after Judas’ death an election was held an Mathias became the 12th apostle. I never heard of him being replaced by Paul.

I’ve been here numerous times and somehow never climbed the steps. It’s interesting that while I fully realize the stairs themselves and most of the relics in the chapel they arrive at are of questionable provenance the devotion and faith they inspire is not. I can celebrate the sacrifice Christ made or that the various relics celebrate without needing them to be the actual stair or actual piece of the cross etc.

Why? Christ never visited Rome, never went to any Italian territory. Did not speak, read or write Latin, Christ most likely spoke Aramaic, spoke and wrote Hebrew and probably understood some Greek which was pretty common all over the eastern med in that time frame. For Mithra-Catholics, Rome/Vatican is their Mecca but for true Christians, Rome and the Vatican mean nothing other than thats where the butchers of Christ came from

Unfortunately, there are people there are many people there who take advantage of the generosity and charity of others. People like this old lady strategically position themselves at religious sites and pose as beggars etc. I myself encountered this 'poor lady' shaking her tin cup and asking for money at the Santa Scala in June when I was there. I was quite taken in, but was wary also. But I decided to give her the bread in my bag that I had brought along for snacks. To my surprise, she looked at me with disgust and said very flatly 'thank you' twice with her hands gesturing me to stop and that she was not interested. Later on, I happened to meet a nun who shared that she never gives money to the beggars in Rome because most of them are part of syndicates who beg for money then collect it all and use it for their own purposes. She also said she's more than willing to give them food or help them out if they need a place to stay etc. But all she's encountered so far are people who just want money only and not any other help.. Even the nuns we stayed with regrettably warned us about pickpockets and beggars and how sad it was about how things were like this..
