I love this! My family on my grandfather's side is from Fiuggi. These videos are so great for people to visit parts of the world they may not ever get to visit, especially our ancestors home towns. I try to imagine them in older times walking the streets and living their lives

Been there, such a beautiful uphill town, known for its famous fiuggi water, to wonder it is just a small town but with five stars grand hotel, it's true many rich people staying there to have their thermal water teraphy, proven and highly recommended by the physicians. Thank you for featuring it.

For those asking why I didn't film the river, I wasn't allowed to go film inside because of privacy, as many people were naked in the spa receiving thermal water therapy. Also I'm sorry for the heavy breathing. The medieval village is on top of the mountain and I was climbing all the stairs for 30 minutes to experience life like the locals. I should've included background music to silence the breathing

Fiuggi is a lovely town not far from my villa in the same region. Unfortunately, I don’t get to enjoy it much as I do not live in Italy. However, as I see how many steps there are, it is not for the elderly. I saw that woman with a cane going up the stairs and felt so bad for her. Maybe I will come back to visit someday.

Do you know what the bottles are setting by the doorway? This is truly fascinating seeing this beautiful town! It's just breathtaking! It was so quiet in through the areas you walked. The bottles by the doorways contain common water from the home faucet. The reason to place them outside is the popular belief that it is useful to keep cats away and avoid that they piss by the door.

The distance is about 70km. About an hour drive. Sorry I couldn't go inside where the river is located. It's well protected and you have to pay to go inside for a spa and drink from the source

Hahaha you're absolutely right. Climbing those stairs everyday can really keep you fit. And most villages in Italy are built on top of the mountains. That is how they were able to defend against invading enemies in medieval times.

Does the old have drinking water,sanitation(toilets),electricity, and gas??Trim people must have inhabitated the old lots of steps .what industry did they have? New.city is open,lots of trees sutiable for retirement living..as usual no baby carriages..

John I am italian, those places do have electricity, heat systems, sewers,there is italian and european laws imposing these thing. People still.live there because italians but i can say europeans do have a strong feel of belonging to their homeland. The villages without basic services were abandoned in the 50's and there are some italian website of ghosthunters and hikers showing those villages.they usually were built really on the top or the mountainside,with one access road large just for a cart. In the appennines villages are high in the hills and modern factories are in the valley,in the alps both residential and productivity zones are in the valley usually 1000m above sea level. Travelling I was surprised about these elderly still living in a place where you have to do steps everyday but they are trained since childhood so they have muscles. Of course if they get sick or too old they arrange for hospice or living with sons in a modern place.
