Romany Polka at a Moscow Ball
Danced at the 2016 Trianon Historical Dance Festival, Moscow. Choreographed by Richard Powers, following original 19th century steps and prototypes of polka choreographies. Cellarius, D'Albert, Durang and others choreographed long polka sequences like this one. Music is "Romany Life" by Victor Herbert, from a 19th century opera. A written description of Romany Polka is here: socialdance.stanford.edu/Sylla...

@@aeromodeller1 Так всегда - дамы хотели бы танцевать, а кавалеров раз! два! и обчелся! Следует приходить на бал со своим кавалером!😃
The first shoot, where this beautiful girl with electric blue roses in her head and her dance partner get the the first turn(?) wrong and then she laughts is so beautiful, it always makes me smile. Pss: sorry for my english, It's not my first lenguage

I went back to see that. Made me smile too!
I can't stop grinning, and I'm an introvert, so it's really quite strange for me. I think this was the little push I needed to try historical sewing.
That couple with the lady in pink is fantastic
The woman in the yellow and blue dress at 0:09 is absolutely gorgeous. She is beautiful, and her dress and hair makes everything 10x better!!!! I also like the orange 1840s dress 0:34 with the white trim. I love this video so much
This is so lovely.
It's nice to see some friends from the French association "Carnet de Bals" 😊.
Magical. Who is the blonde dancer? With his partner they are amazing.

Look for historical reenactment groups that do balls, or historical sites that have open dance nights.
Ok who is throwing everyone off?! LoL. Cute but I feel like they're almost bumping into one another! Cute!
Great job! Can I use par of this video for a documentary?
